OP, sorry but how did you find that person's post and distribute your 11 sMerit today?
the post was made early last month. and its position is in the middle of the thread.
just my assumption, you are trying to help the account to rank up faster by giving Merit.
I sincerely doubt that he read all the posts in that thread, and that there is some kind of connection between @Gallar and @BRINIRHA, whether they are alt accounts or just friends is a question that maybe someone will know (find the answer).
OP. I hope you at least revisit the topics you've created and answer questions like this one. because I also want to know why you intend to send me 1 sMerit which ended in error to sended 11 sMerit. where did you find me. because if you just shut up and don't explain. this will only misunderstand others. because even I'm pretty sure that I do not know you in the real world and in cyberspace.

but I hope you OP is not pressured and just answer casually.
I've also looked at your post history and found in your first post on this forum that you suffer from a disease that I don't know if it's neurological or physical or mental illness or something like that. so I hope you OP are fine and just answer casually and relax.
BRINIRHA received 11 merit for a post that doesn't deserve to receive merit. This was the first mistake. If BRINIRHA sends 5 merit to Gallar just because he/she has received 11 merit mistakenly, it would be the second mistake.
As things stand, it seems that the exchange of merits did take place, which makes the whole thing even more interesting Roll Eyes

I sent sMerit after reading this suggestion and I think this suggestion I can take well.
Many beautiful words, but it would be more honest to return at least 5 merits. Instead, you create a post with 1000 letters. You won't break the forum rules if you act more honorably. I showed an example in this thread.
Otherwise, your “thank you” looks very false and hypocritical Grin Grin Grin

I don't know if it turns out that about this Merit there are special rules or even a ban on abuse.

I'll read about the Merit rules more thoroughly after replying to this.

I'm just a little happy because I received a lot of Merit in the pumpkin contest. And I want to try to distribute it at least one Merit. because it will be a good experience for the first time for me.

because at that time I already had 22 Merits so it didn't matter if my Merit was reduced by one and I had 21 remaining.

I also started looking for the target account that I would send. I went to the beginner and help board.

and found a topic about Merit and you @Brinirha made a post on that topic which is this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.61232100 .

And you @Brinirha said in the post that you have a birthday this month.

I am the most easily carried away person. sometimes feelings are always my priority.

so I also think it would be good if you received Merit from me on a special month for you.

and i think i should post Merit in your other post which is worthy and good or qualified to be awarded Merit.

I also went to your profile @Brinirha and saw your latest post and on the second page I found your post which I sent Merit.
because for me the post is pretty good.

but i made a mistake. the first maybe because I'm online using a cellphone.

because I don't have a pc at the moment.

so sometimes the keyboard qwerty on my cellphone often appears late. my phone is a little slow to respond.
maybe the memory load is too heavy.

initially i removed 0. and next i typed 1. i believe it was one time. and my mistake is that I don't zoom in or zoom in on my cellphone display. and doesn't check first if it's true 1 or double 1. I just clicked send.

while loading the page. I just realized that it was 11. I tried to cancel the loading process but it was too late.

I panicked. because my Merit must be a little left.

and trying to find a cancel button or something. i guess it will be unwound like Unlike on FB. but I didn't find it.

I also rushed to ask for help by asking here. about whether or not it is possible to cancel the shipment.

because I see my Merit is still 22 and it hasn't decreased so I think it's a sign that the Merit is still in the process of sending and I still have time to cancel.

but it turns out I misunderstood. after I read the replies on this topic just now. I just found out that there is such a thing as SMerit and Merit. and it turned out to be two different things.

and now I know that my Merit is not decreasing and the one that is decreasing is SMerit.

so I'm fine as long as my Merit doesn't decrease.

So I don't want to spoil your best moment of the month with my mistakes.

I'm sorry it was my fault you got involved with this and I also thank you for trying to help me by sending me your Merit. but you don't have to because I didn't ask for it and it's not your fault. but my mistake but you already did so i appreciate that..

I also thank @hosseinimr93 who also sent me Merit. and also to @theymos who also sent me merit.

I thank everyone who has helped answer my question.
Some even browsed my post history to find out about the history of the disease I was experiencing.
and it touched me. and I thank you.

Maybe I'm a person who gets carried away easily. so have written at length.

and I hope this problem ends here. and I'm sorry for making this fuss and I hope this topic can be locked by moderators.

or maybe I'll try to figure out how to lock it myself. although I'm not sure if I can find a way.

I will learn from this mistake I have made.

Thank you to all of you.

I'm trying to learn to send Merit for the first time. I originally wanted to send 1 merit. but instead I made the mistake of sending 11 Merits. can I cancel the delivery of the Merit? and how to do it?

Thank you
Unfortunately you can't and i don't know if there will be an update for it in the future at least to give us 5 minutes to change the number if there a mistake has been made and it's something many people here did before not just you. That's going to be cool as when editing our posts on the next 5 minutes of posting it the post won't show as it's edited.
For now just double check before sending merites to anyone. Especially new accounts as you might be accused of merit abuse

But I was expecting the error to be different. 10 merits is more likely to be erroneously sent than 11. The merit box has by default a number 0 inside it. If you click the box, the number 0 won't disappear or at least automatically highlighted so that it would be replaced by the number you want to put.

It is possible to make a mistake of sending 11 merits instead of 1. I have seen a related post some time ago but I can't find it now.  But I don't actually know how that happens, maybe it could be a bug.
The merit mistake I have made more than once is, when I'm on mobile and send merit. If I refresh the page the action will happen for the second time, sending exactly the same amount of merits for the second time.

Lovesmayfamilis gave op a very nice suggestion...kudos for being bold always.

unfortunately, when the smerit is sent, it can't be canceled, theymos still doesn't provide that feature here. so in the future you have to be more careful because you can't cancel it when it's been sent.

sMerit can't be cancelled or reversed, similar like Bitcoin transaction.
That's not true at all:
Merit ain't no immutable cryptocurrency!
In this case, I don't think it will be changed. Don't worry about it, I've made bigger mistakes (sending 40 instead of 4).
lol how lucky that recipient is.

Wow... I'm sure the receiver of your smerit will be very happy about this lucky mistake.  But on the contrary, an already sent smerit can't be canceled, because that's the way it has been programmed, which is why it's always good to be extremely careful while sending this smerit. Because with what I can see on your profile, you have received 40 merits so far, which means you must have been gifted 20 smerits, of which if you are to minus the 11 you just mistakenly sent today, you should be left with 9 smerits. So it's still a good sum ofr you to judiciously use it wisely

Merit exchange? Is there any evidence that they are alternative accounts? I agree with you that the mistake was on the part of the OP and lessons need to be learned. But we see that this is important for the OP; maybe he has a nervous breakdown; I read his post history.

The error appears to be genuine because it was his first time sending out his smerit; however, as you have stated, the OP has learned from his mistake.
Many people are reluctant to read rules line by line, which may be the cause of the error because the forum has made it clear and understandable that all merit sent cannot be reversed, but perhaps the OP's mind is far as he is about to send out his first merit.

Once you click the send button of merits there's no chance it can be reversed,

still, it is just a mistake and not a merit abuse, another tip once you send the merit don't try to reload the page because you can make another send of the number of merits.

I don't think this is a big problem. The OP already sending merit with the actual number was a mistake. I know the concern is that this is seen as Merit abuse.
some people have experienced this, no problem. but what becomes unnatural is the return made. even though Merit recipients had already earned merit and happened to go up in rank straight away. a return of merit to the sender is not necessary.

this looks like a debt of gratitude because it has helped rank up.
but somehow everything happened. those who get merit have been promoted, I congratulate you. and the one who sent the merit also got it back. I hope there are no disappointments.
I just hope they're not alt accounts.

But generally speaking, if I send you 10 merit and tell you "I sent 10 merit to you and now I don't have any smerit. Can you please send me 5 merit?", it would be still merit exchange.
Merit exchange is not rarely seen on the forum.

Assumption:

You can apply to be a merit source and get attraction of other users who will naturally or shadily exchange merit with you. It's hard or easy to judge a merit exchange based on how quality that merited posts are and the frequency of backscratching between two users or between a merit source and their local users.

If the merited posts are not too good quality but still receiving merits, and the frequency is high, that is merit exchange.
If the merited posts are good in quality, it is good to not consider it as merit exchange.

My motto is "Your total earned merit does not tell others who you are and your qualitative contribution, but your post quality does."

"can sending smerit be cancelled?"
Short answer: No it can not, its a one way street!

Long answer: For starters, there is a difference between merit and smerit, merit can not e transferred to another user while smerit is transferable/ sendable.

It's the smerit that is needed to offset an increase in merit which in turn allows one to rank up while merit on the other hand does not decrease but only goes up per smerit received. For more information on how the merit system works check the following thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-new-rank-requirements-2818350

I am currently suffering from a disease called OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) My daily life is often stressful because there are always strange thoughts, things that I fear, and being forced to do things that I don't want to do. That's why I'm often stressed and the way I treat stress is by exercising, listening to music, chatting and don't forget to Allah SWT.

Therefore, I simply suggested what I would do in such a case when a person wants to return what was mistakenly given. We have the right to give our merits to whomever we want, right?

I see the bug has been fixed. This will be a lesson for the OP.

lol sorry the transaction cannot be reversed. The recipient will be very happy tho so don’t worry about it. If that’s all your smerits then it’s going to hurt a little bit. I have a similar experience when I was a newbie, I made the mistake of reloading the merit page and sending merit twice to the same person. I also made the meriting the wrong user who made a post just above the one I wanted to merit at the time.

Mistakes do happen. We do not have to see everyone as trying to break the rules of this forum. If you have mistakenly sent merit to a different account than the one you planned to you will understand what happened with the op that you can also mistakenly send 2 digits merits instead of 1. It is painful when that happens as we know you can not undo it. It is the luck of the account that received it.

I'm trying to learn to send Merit for the first time. I originally wanted to send 1 merit. but instead I made the mistake of sending 11 Merits. can I cancel the delivery of the Merit? and how to do it?

Thank you
this is the first time I have obtained Merit with a flustered feeling. should i be happy or not. because it turns out you sent it wrong.

before finding this post of yours. I feel happy but with a little confusion. because I saw my post that you gave Merit it turned out to be a post with mediocre quality. so if it's valued at 11 merit I'm a bit confused. then i think positive i.e. i think this person is just generous and wants to help. but then i visited/viewed your profile. and it turns out that you even only have 22 Merits. which means the 11 Merits you have given me is the total sMerit you have. I immediately felt even more confused when I saw this. after that I see your post history. and finally found your latest post on this one.
and now I really don't know what to say to you. But I have to thank you with all my heart for your good intentions intending to send me 1 Merit. Even if you end up making mistakes. You must be having a hard time now that you don't have any more sMerits you can send. but your mistake has helped me by accident. so I will still sincerely thank you. Hopefully next time you can be more careful. because this kind of thing can actually damage the reputation if done intentionally and consciously. not only you will be harmed but myself can be involved. so next time you have to be more careful.
Once again I thank you for your good intentions. but the sMerit that you have sent cannot be returned. but I don't mind if I have to send a number of Merits with the same total. but I'm afraid it would violate the Merit rules in this forum. unless there is a moderator or staff that allows it.
I also think that you do not know about the reputation on this forum.
so please study more carefully.
