Not sure if that actually is possible (billions of data. Where are they going to be stored to make it truly decentralized?). And do we really need a decentralized social media network? I am just wondering how fucked up the whole network would be if there was no moderation of the contents being posted or anything.

Lol, don't (read never) expect Facebook to go "decentralized". Facebook needs your data in order to make billions. Mark would be the last guy to think about making a decentralized social media network.

Absolutely not happening! IMO, Mark already likes how he has people's data/information and making it decentralized puts the companies out of his hands. Like, imagine throwing it all to decentralization. I doubt that!

Yes, of course we could not expect Facebook or similar social media platform to go decentralized and be powered by the blockchain technology...and even Jack Dorsey's Twitter will not do it. But there is that possibility that Mark will be creating another entity and will be experimenting with this idea soon...maybe because he feel that if this is the future of socmed then he should be its pioneer. Anyway, this is just an speculation nothing can be sure yet but there is now no question that the future of social media can be with blockchain technology.

Imo, there's no actual correlation between some major social platforms going down and Bitcoin spiking, it's probably just an attempt to draw attention to Bitcoin and use it to get more traffic to their website.

There are already some attempts to create message and chat applications using lightning network such as https://www.getjuggernaut.com/ ( I never used such services, just mentioned because it is possible)

This app run in bitcoin lightning network. Should né interesting, but I never tried.

Yes, it is definitely possible. If these things happen, then a new face will come to social media. People will get more freedom in their social lives. They didn't have to worry about being stolen and selling their data. People have more security and people can control their own data. And these things will come very soon. And I think Marvin Zuckerberg might be introducing these things very soon. And I heard on the news that Mark Zuckerberg is thinking about the digital metaverse. Then it might be possible to have a blockchain social platform. I am really excited about this.
