Leading Crypto Sports Betting & Casino Platform
Can someone recommend a site to start trading altcoins? I'm looking for one that is trusted and has a good variety of coins.

I would recommend poloniex or bittrex, these two are very reliable exchange since then both platform had never been involve in any issue or controversies so it is safe to start trading for a newbie.

It looks like most of you are recommending Polonex and Bittrex so I'll look at those when I get a chance. Thank you all for the great advice. Anymore words of wisdom will be appreciated.

Another good feature on CRYPTOPIA is the the Minimum Trade amount is .00000500 Sats:  http://imgur.com/a/vWxfR & .00002000 Sats for Alts.

that only makes cryptopia a good place for newbies to start trading while risking so small amounts of bitcoin. and it makes it a learning place but not really much of a real big players exchange service.
It had included on the worst exchange site, too many dead coins won't become a good place for the small trader. I may think if bittrex was being better placed than it. Even for a small trader it can give more guarantee for newbies.

however I like the idea of being able to trade altcoins with altcoins too, in other words being able to trade some random altcoin with XMR or LTC directly and have these two as your base currency. but sadly it is not much popular as the volumes show.

Only Poloniex!

"only" poloniex is risky. The past should have told us, that it is never good, when an exchange gets too big and holds too many coins. See MtGox, see cryptsy. The problem is, until something happens, it's best to be on these exchanges for the reasons mentioned: Best liquidity, generally good service, not riddled with shitcoins and fake pumps, stuff like that.
my thoughts exactly.. never bet on a single horse.

I'm just always using yobit for trading alt coins because I find it very easy to use and even though we all know what is their flaws about their poor customer service when someone complains.
Still I'm keep on using it from the start because I find it quite good.

Yobit is good like in my signature but honestly even i am a signature member they have worst support.. unlike other trading exchange.. if you are care for support you go to poloniex never had any issue in that trading site.. the other site are bittrex and cryptopia those i already tested it and they are still active as of now i have some altcoin in those site because i spread my own altcoin to trade..

Don't trust cryptsy that was an old exchange site was hack before so better to stay away from that site..

Cryptsy?
This site scammed a lot of people! https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cryptsy-stopping-withdraw-locking-accounts-without-notifying-users-class-action-1173703
And it doesn't exist anymore... Months ago it happened.

Liquidity is a factor to consider when choosing which exchange to trade your altcoins. You don't want to face a situation where you can't sell your coins at a good price. Poloniex and bittrex are the best place to trade as both have good volume. The rest of the exchanges are not really worth it unless you are trading with a small amount of BTC.

Exactly that.
people are always amused with those 1000% pump in yobit but they are always fake.
0 volume pump made by bots trading with itself.

you buy the coin, you think you're rich but you cant sell the coins because of the zero liquidity.

Can someone recommend a site to start trading altcoins? I'm looking for one that is trusted and has a good variety of coins.

I'd recommend you the yobit website, their aupport ia a little bad but they have a ton of alt-coins and adding new one as soon as they are published/announced. There may be some other webaited but I know about this one that has a vast variety of alt-coins.

I looked at their site (Yobit) and it's a little confusing, not very user friendly. If their support is shaky then I might stay away from that one.

Stay away from yobit. Too many shitcoins there, too much stuff you don't need and their site design is cancer.

Poloniex and Bittrex are fine.

There are things like c-cex, bleutrade, southexchange and whatnot, but I would only register there if you wanted to get a specific altcoin that you'll only get there.
Would recommend  Poloniex, especially Bittrex. These two is easy to use and user friendly. These two has smaller fee compared to other trading sites such as Yobit that has very high fee.

Can someone recommend a site to start trading altcoins? I'm looking for one that is trusted and has a good variety of coins.

I recommend CRYPTOPIA. It is an excellent exchange and has a large variety of ALT coins. You can also mine for free on their Mineshaft. The community is friendly & inclusive. When you check it out and if you'd like use my referral link :

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Register?referrer=globaltrader

Say hello when you sign up, I go by Globaltrader there.

best of luck.

the question is
a site to start trading altcoins?
the answer is Topia

You can start trading based markets Doge Uno LTC and more.
Excellent way to practice trading in these micro markets, you won't make money but you also wont loose money.

Trading BTC based markets for a n00b could be costly $$$

I started at Yobit since they have almost all various coins at exchange even those low volumes and considered as dead. And their free coins options really hooked me up.

But while Im progressing in the world of altcoin trading I realized that this exchange is really not recommended in terms of serious trading so months later I switched to CCEX and Poloniex which already build a good name now in the world of altcoin exchanges.

I suggest you Bittrex for beginning, and when you have enough balls Poloniex Cheesy

Lol. Bittrex is not for beginner. It is just like polo. They have nearly equal of trading volume of alt coin. In fact, bittrex is a trusted site. I suggest ccex if you want a user friendly exchange. Is easy to unferstand and use. Thanks

Poloniex and Bittrex are the "must-have". They are big, they have very good volumes, the chance to find scam or dying coins there is small.
For variation, for "smaller" coins that didn't get to the bigger exchanges, Cryptopia and C-Cex are also pretty fine (just the volumes are usually boring).

Poloniex and Bittrex would be my suggestions, Bittrex is a bit more straight forward and great for getting used to trading altcoins, a nice user interface on the web, their mobile site is a bit annoying but they do have a nice variety of altcoins.

Yobit is okay I suppose and they do add almost all coins after they launch which can be a good things sometimes but it is a bit messy.
