Better start now so they'll notice. I'd be tweeting and requesting them myself.  Smiley
There is no hurry, if we target January 2018.

If someone is near their HQ better pitch it in to their employees.  Grin
AFAIK, Pieter Wuille is a former Googler employee and Matt Corallo was a Google intern.

So, does anyone here have the expertise to create a Bitcoin Doodle?

I seriously doubt that...

Very bad idea.  The blockchain will be flooded with noobs all wanting to know and understand about Bitcoin.  Fees and transaction times will skyrocket.

Miners will be happy.  Everyone else... not so much.

Are you stoned? Why would we want to turn away new adopters? Every new person buying bitcoins are good for the price and also good for

merchants looking for customers that wants to pay with bitcoins. There are tons of people out there who are willing to educate and help

noobers, because they are beneficial to us all.  Roll Eyes

This is the best idea you can imagine for getting more people to find out about using bitcoin and not just saying "What is a bitcoin!" that I have heard from watching people on the news asking about how to pay their ransomware to get control of their computers back by paying with them instead.
It's a shame that these people have to find out about bitcoin in this sort of way. By getting scammed by hackers.

just a small chance google will make some advertisement to bitcoin as they are not stating any standpoint on digital currency. I think they are only using paypal as there main payment option online but if a signaturer campaign will push thru then I will sign so that we can have more exposure on bitcoin the more the merrier Smiley

Very good idea, I support this, the doodles are cool and im sure there's nothing particularly interesting in January 3 that would be better than Bitcoin's Genesis day. But I doubt it will happen since I don't see Google being supportive of Bitcoin. I have seen some good videos of Google about Bitcoin but im sure that is from their geeks deppartment making content, not sure if they would expose Bitcoin into the frontpage of the internet (that's pretty much Google nowadays)

Me too, this is awesome opportunity for people to find out about bitcoins, today almost every person in this world open google at least once per day, and some of us hundred times. I agree that internet is google nowadays, they are in almost every aspect of the network and maybe we can see one day bitcoin and google to be good friends. If google give support to bitcoin that will mean a lot to this community. If bitcoin plan to become mainstream one day, then bitcoin will need to have google support.

Google having more than a billion people using it's services and specially the search engine daily, I can not imagine that they'll do such advertising for us with a community little as less than half a million Smiley. just remember that we don't need many people getting involved with mining and stuff we just need as many people to simply buy and hold bitcoins lol too many miners means increased difficulty, however is a good thing but what is most needed for people to trust and start using bitcoin as regular currency.
But it is not just for the community but for a decentralized currency that it is as a whole. Grin
This exposure will be good not just for the ones holding any bitcoin but for the world economy for years to come. Smiley

If there was either a very well done doodle included with the request, something on par with what google would normally do, then they might be a bit more open to the option, but for now it's really 50/50. Enough people asking might get their attention, but knowing google there are no guarantees for anything.

Aw crap I didn't know it was so soon or I would have suggested it earlier to them. Idk how long it takes for them to make a doodle and Ido if they give a crap about bitcoins. It's always 300 year old dead weirdos that invented stuff. Wood see ding, I made a stick with a rock on the end of it and no one gave me a damn doodle. I think I was the first to do it.

This would be a great idea to make bitcoin more prevalent to the mass market that they appeal too.
I would like to think this should be requested in a form of a petition and presented to google. Grin

This is what is so frustrating about bitcoin at the moment. It can't really scale, which means that what should be fantastic advertising for BTc may kill it.

we all can request google through social sites or for Bitcoin doodle but I think Google will listen voice of small crowed. Bitcoin users are very less and if all users request to Google than probably it can allow Bitcoin doodle.

It would be very interesting, worth trying to contact Google about this. However the possibility of this happening in near future is highly unlikely, as Google doesn't really have a stance regarding Bitcoin and if we have to guess one, we could say Google is kind of a competitor.

Back from the Dead!

I think we can try to suggest it to them by emailing them ([email protected]) but there's no gurantee that it could get accepted right away because they receive tons of requests daily.

Tweeting at https://twitter.com/Google or https://twitter.com/ryangermick may have stronger effect.

Tweeting will be a better idea than emailing. Success in getting a genesis doodle might attract more attention to bitcoin, and thus help further in a more stable price increase. Also this might help in mass adoption Smiley

A great idea to commemorate the first transaction in the network. Also, if someone here could create such doodles then we can as well send them the designs that we might come across. Idk if such a thing would work or if it is already in the works since even the not-so-significant events had been in the Google homepage for quite a time now. I guess it's worth a shot, and is really a great idea to advertise.
