I heard of bounties and I'm yet to properly know how it works, but aside from the bounties program are there any other medium of earning here?
There may be a bounty campaign that goes beyond the usual waste of time, but I would answer your question this way:
You are more likely to make more money if you sit on a street and play an instrument than in most bounty campaigns. And I would really love to be a moderator here one day
I love the flexibility that the job gives.
How long will that take?
Moderators can be global or just assigned to their local board, and the decision is made by the admin. Members of each local board can nominate someone for moderator, and there are of course some criteria. Here is what the admin says on the subject :
Report history is the most important consideration for a moderator candidate. Over the forum's many years, relatively "newbie" members with good report histories have consistently done much better as mods than veteran, well-respected members with poor report histories. That said, not all reports are equal, so a simple report count doesn't tell the whole story. Also, in addition to report histories, it's necessary to consider factors such as the ability of the candidate to be neutral, their trustworthiness, etc. It's also nice to choose a moderator who people generally already trust/respect, but sometimes this is outweighed by other factors.
If a poll is created, I will not completely ignore the results, but I will also not use it as a primary influence. I'm more interested in arguments people have for or against certain candidates.
If you really want to be a moderator one day I think you're wrong to admit publicly that you want to do it obviously because it's a paid job - not because you care about the forum. Regardless of your intentions and desires, the question is are you ready to invest a lot of time in this forum, or are you just another in a series of casual passers-by?
