Tell him you'll commit to bulk orders,  make  ice cream coupons with at least 10 or more ice creams on a coupon and he can clip the coupon when you come through until it's accumulated and buy another coupon when you done.

Thank you everyone for trying to help me!!

Actually I was disappointed because you didn't include my advice  Grin  If your friends still refuse it, and since your country is Italy, then you can discuss it with some Italiano guys here, maybe they will be first customers for you.

why would you ever want to spend btc on ice cream ,

that is crazy to me, i consider btc something of value , like gold,

not everyone may feel the same

Well I think you can't blame what other people want with their bitcoin. You can buy a gold to investment, but buy ice cream in summer with your bitcoin, sounds not bad to me. Not everyone may feel the same, then I think not everyone like gold too.

You could argue that it would be a nice gimmick to bring in more customers, you could suggest a bitcoin day where people paying in cryptos get a 10% discount or something like that. But tbh unless there are a lot of people who want to use it, it is unlikely wort the effort for the ice cream shop to take them.

Create a simple website for him, so people can preorder ice-cream online and pickup at his shop. Bitcoin over the counter will not interest your friend because it's more work for the same income. The website with bitcoin will bring more business with no credit card fees. Play to bitcoin's strength.

This might work. Your friend can do this at night when he is at home. When the online shop takes off, he could diverse and sell other stuff in the winter, not just ice-cream.

Does he accept anything other than cash?

No, just cash

So, cash works just fine for that kind of transactions, why should he start to accept anything other than that?

Well if you work in your friend ice-cream shop, then you can tell him that you will manage the bitcoin payment, and your friend will do the rest. You must know if there is many bitcoin user or not in your area, and you need to promote your ice cream with cheaper price in bitcoin. Just show your friend how bitcoin working in his shop. The result depends on your effort to do that.

It is summer time and I like to eat fresh made ice-cream every day. The owner is my old friend. I had some attempts to convince him to accept bitcoins but there is no way to convince him. He is just a strong mainstreamer. Did you have similar situations or were you able to convince anybody to accept bitcoin.
I promise if my local shop starts to accept because of the argument you suggested, I will tip you!
The best thing you can do is that start from yourself, means lure him by gifting few bitcoins, once he came to know its value, he may give talks to you to know more about Bitcoin digital currency, grasp that opportunity explain about the advantages of digital currency and convince him to accept the bitcoin payment for buying fresh n creamy ice cream everyday.

Your country may be your worst enemy
I wouldn't do that. Don't get me wrong I love BTC, but nothing beats cash for small routine, over the counter, transactions. I'm always surprised to see so many people paying cheap little items with a credit card. No trace, no record. I suggest you try to convince an used car dealer, that would be more appropriate.

I don't know how "big" is this ice cream business but I guess its pretty small so I don't think that your friend will have time to bother wit btc (at least not now). Also people buying such unimportant things like ice cream (although very yummy Wink) won't bother to pay with btc anyhow. We are still too early for Bitcoin to become common currency.

It have a very high time to globally accept as money and use for daily work.

The best way to convince them would be to just demonstrate it actually working, since there's been a lot of people in the media deliberately trying to scare people away from cryptocurrencies. After that, leave them to their own device, they either will adopt it or they won't and that's their choice.

As long as you don't go around giving Bitcoiners an evangelical reputation then it should all go fine, what I would do to show him you're being legit and not trying to con him is pay for an ice cream in fiat and give him the equivalent in Bitcoin so he can test it when he's at home or something.

The easiest way to convince him probably is:
  • Give him $50 (or any amount you think makes sense) in cash.
  • Give him your BTC address(es) so he asks any buyer to pay to you.
  • Once he reaches $50 or close to it go and give him more cash.
  • Make everything easy for him: create a QR code with the address, a way to easily convert USD to BTC, a way to confirm the payment was made, everything he needs.
If everything goes well eventually he may want to keep the bitcoins himself. Otherwise it's also a nice way for you to buy the coins.

There's a project for an app to do this easily. I saw the YouTube video but I can't find it now.
