I do not think there is any technology that can steal Bitcoin? Unless it is an internet device that is infected with a virus. How else can you lose information?

The role of bitcoin mixer is also to make bitcoin transactions anonymous. Besides, how can anyone identify a stolen bitcoin? If some has 10 bitcoins in his wallet, out of which 2 are stolen bitcoins and he decides to send you 1 bitcoin, how do you know whether the 1 bitcoin sent to you is a stolen bitcoin?

I think it can happen to anyone using bitcoin, and we have to be careful using bitcoin so we can not mix coin stolen coin.

If I can received a stolen bitcoin I don't accept it because it is not mind. I feel too much pity of the owner of that Bitcoin.

Hi. For people that use bitcoin mixers to mix their bitcoins, is it possible that somebody may actaully end up with stolen bitcoins? So in this case, using a bitcoin mixer could be far worse. For example if these stolen bitcoins are being tracked, then is it possible legit users using a mixing service, could end up with stolen bitcoins? If so, is there any way to prevent this or to find out if you have received stolen coins?

As we all know, mixing service was created to clean our coins so if there will be audits to our portfolio we are safe from any legalities. If your coin is being mixed then that is already an assurance that when you receive it back it's already clean. There's no way that you can receive any stolen coins from a mixing service unless this mixing service is really doing some tricks on you. Don't be paranoid about if for they are made to clean your coins.

Interest Ask.
In fact, bitcoin coins do not have an identifier (number) as on the US dollar.

Therefore, I believe that it is impossible to trace the stolen bitcoins to you

The question is.. how do you define 'stolen bitcoins' ?

Bitcoins do only exist as UTXO's assigned to public keys on the blockchain.

Now, imagine the following case:
Eve does steal 1 BTC from Alice's address (A). She creates a transaction sending the whole bitcoin to her address (E) (ignoring fees).
She is obviously in posession of the 'stolen bitcoin'.

(A) 1BTC     --->     (E) 1BTC

Now Eve already has 2 BTC on another address (E2). She decides to send her whole 3 BTC to 3 people: Bob (B), Carol (C) and Dave (D).
On a technical level this means that 2 inputs (2+1 btc) create 3 outputs (1+1+1 btc).

                       (B) 1BTC
(E) 1BTC   --->     (C) 1BTC
(E) 2BTC   --->     (D) 1BTC

Who does now own the 'stolen bitcoin' ? Bob, Carol or Dave ?
-> You simply can't say. Because inputs are 'destroyed' and new outputs are 'created'. You can't derive the 'origin' from an UTXO.

Now imagine Bob, Carol and Dave are all going to spend their BTC into two further outputs (0.5 BTC each). It is completely impossible to tell which 2 of these 6 outputs 'are made of stolen BTC'.
The more transactions there are, the more confusing it will get when trying to identify the 'origin'. And that is basically what a mixer does.

Look at Chipmixer FAQ for example. Once you have deposited you get a 'chip' which you can merge or split into bigger/smaller chips.
Each chip does represent a private key with a balance of a multiple of 0.001. After you have done as much splitting/merging as you wish, you can withdraw your balance.

Hello!!
What is a bitcoin mixer ?
What's taht thing? Never heard about that !  Undecided Undecided
Simple answer, Bitcoin mixer will make your transaction more anonymous and it will hard to track. Example is Chipmixer.

Thank you! I'll check this out.
Then I understand more the topic of this thread!!
I guess it's really difficult to say : THIS bitcoin was stolen.

once because the BTC can be divided 0.000000000x
second because you can't tag a bitcoin!

You could very well end up with stolen coins, and they could very well be tracked to you. Any investigator worth their salt, however, won't assume that just because you came into possession of them means you're the thief. There are going to be a lot of factors involved, like how the mixer works, could they have access to the mixer's logs, etc. Worst case scenario, probably, is you get tracked down and questioned.

For as long as you're not doing anything shady with mixers, you shouldn't have anything to fear in the least.

I don’t think that till now it is possible to receive your stolen bitcoins because the most characteristic features of bitcoin transactions is that it Keeps transactions very safe and confidential and does not involve any third party seizure so it like next to impossible to trace the stolen bitcoin, I can’t predict the future that whether in future such type of mixer could be made or not but fro now it is impossible to trace stolen bitcoin and if you know something that can help to trace the stolen bitcoin then let me know.

I thought mixers are needed to hide addresses of where coins go from and where come to. I have heard that a user who sends his coins through mixer never can be trucked. Am I wrong?

You are not wrong on your idea. Mixers are made to hide the taint of the coins that you received or to just obfuscate it so that no one could trace it. Once your coins entered into a mixing service, they would fully replace it with coins that came off clean or has other taints in it to cut off the previous connections of the coins to you. In essence, it is untraceable since the coins you will be receiving came from many inputs that are hard to track. So yeah, mixers are pretty damn safe.

Yes, there's a lot people using bitcoin mixer service. So, that usually happen, but i think you no need to worry about it, because it will end up with clean bitcoin.
If so, is there any way to prevent this or to find out if you have received stolen coins?

I think you're worried about the taint of the coins you might be receiving from a mixer. AFAIK, these mixers already have their own set of clean coins ready to be disposed once a user decided to utilize their service. Also, I think you will not be receiving a whole chunk of coins from a single input but rather from many inputs, hence the term "mixing". You should not worry about it because even though your coins are linked to a crime, they can't accuse you for doing anything since money also change hands everyday, so does bitcoins.

IMO though, tainted coins should be accepted as is since it's not your fault to receive such, and if the original owner of those coins have to get it back, it will destroy bitcoin's integrity as a currency since everyone can just claim that they're hacked and receive their money immediately.

I don't use bitcoin mixers but as far as I know mixers such as ChipMixer create their chips themselves (with their own funds before giving it to you) so I don't think you can end up with stolen bitcoins.
And even if you end up with stolen bitcoins using other mixers it would be really hard to track them when it lands on your hands.
