You answer a very lengthy post yet you failed to answer exactly to the simple question. Analysis part is already given since you will not use indicators without analyzing the data it provides.

Bollinger bands and EMA lines with longer time interval is perfect for a long term trend analysis for your investment. Actually, most of the indicators can be use on same purpose if you will just a long time frame for your charts. Long term investment is very easy to analyze since you will just need to find a coin that is performing good in long term before it got dump without any major issue behind.

Investment with trading there is a difference in implementation. If you choose to invest, then in theory you don't really need indicators. You just buy regularly when the price is considered cheap.
Usually, indicators are needed by traders to analyze prices such as technical indicators suggested in every article about trading.
Those of you who choose to invest long term, maybe the DCA pattern can be used.
-snip-
The DCA pattern needs to be done correctly, reading the market and how the trend will continue.
Without analyzing, it is impossible to see the potential for the right entry.

Long-term investment with DCA is less taxing on the mind.
We just need to buy and target the top price, quite simple.

But it is really necessary to analyze first, learn how the market works, and start entering.
All indicators used for trading are the best, depending on who is using them.

For long term investment, it is necessary to do a lot of research and determine which crypto currency is the best to invest in. That's the hard part. You will need to analyze price histories, review the whitepaper of cryptocurrencies to assess a specific area in the market and try to take government regulations and the like into account. You can prioritize two different options when investing. The first is to invest in cryptocurrencies with a certain history and the second is to prefer cryptocurrencies that have just entered the market, which you think can increase in value quite quickly. The second option involves many risks. I don't think there is much need for technical indicators in long term investments and i can recommend that the important thing is to calculate the cycle at the right times and invest accordingly.
I can say that the most important indicator of long term investment in crypto markets is the estimation of the time between the beginning and the end of the halving time and starting investments with the beginning of bear markets. If you don't have a weak hand and have a successful Hodl time, i’m sure you will see the benefits of your long term investment at the next halving time. There are many indicators for short term trades but the only indicator i would recommend for long term investment would be Hodl.

From a cyclical perspective, now could be the best indicator to buy as bitcoin's price action is still under $30,000.

For crypto, it's the 4-year cycle based on the bitcoin halving that serves me as the best indicator and it never failed so far. Bitcoin remains the main investment focus but it's not and to diversify and pick some of the altcoins of your taste as long you DYOR and invest what you can afford to lose. Outside of crypto, it's mostly on the fundamentals of the assets like stocks, foreign currencies, real estate, and many more.

Real estate is my best pick outside of crypto because of how small my country is and yet we have a huge population so basically the demand is overflowing over the fixed supply.

If you invest for the long term, it will be quite easy. As long as you buy bitcoin at a price lower than the old ATH and still below your sell target then you can buy at any time. Because we won't be able to invest by buying once and we will buy bitcoin every time we have money. So as long as the bitcoin price stays below the old ATH, that's an indicator you can buy.

Market cycle investing is a wise investment method and if it gives you good returns. You do not have to change your strategy or copy from others because each person will have their own strategy, maybe that strategy works for them but it may not be right for you.

Indicators are very useful in trading but in investment or those of you who are considering for the long term, then the four-year cycle is the best indicator, buy when the price starts to fall when it reaches the latest ATH and keep saving or keep buying if you have enough money to come back sold about a year after the last halving, so far it has been quite profitable for the holders, indeed some time ago after the halving it was predicted that the price would reach over $100K but that was not achieved but the four-year cycle was still achieved as usual, and because you have made investments based on that cycle, it is the best because trades are often not according to analysis even though you have used many indicators because many things can affect the market.

There is no single best indicator that you should adopt over the long term - but I think the best advice is to buy the dip and then hold it. You know that bitcoin has lost more than half of its value to ATH - so buy it while it's still as low as it is today.

I'm not insisting on continuing to use the indicator if I plan to hold bitcoin long term - but I just need to try to stick to the first plan and adjust my accumulation strategy accordingly. So if you don't want to bother with finding the right indicators - then just take advantage of your current opportunity to buy as much as you can afford to lose.

A massive bear market is an indicator that you should buy and hold bitcoin if you want to hold it for a long time.

Another is bitcoin halving. After bitcoin halving, the price will go up that halving year and the following year most likely.
Actually what you just said concerning holding bitcoin during the bearish season is the best option but some of the investors or beginners doesn't differentiate the difference between long term investment and short-term investment during bearish season and bullish season, I know quite well that bitcoin price do get appreciated when you hold for long time and especially when you purchase bitcoin during the falling time and hold, some people doesn't believe that holding have it's advantages and mostly the people that always been in rush to sell out their coin is people that have not understand the procedures of bitcoin.

The biggest indicator for now is the approach of Halving. Other than that, you need to look at the loops. At the same time, I can say that Bitcoin never loses in the long run. If you have the strength to hold Bitcoin for the long term, you don't need to look for another indicator.

Other than these, I can't find any indicator that will lead us to the conclusion. Because there are many different news every day. What is good today may be bad tomorrow.

You failed to mention what asset you want to hold for the long term in your comment,  but since this is Bitcoin speculation board I will make my analysis based on Bitcoin and just like the first member that comments rightly said,  the best indicator to buy bitcoin for long term holding is when the price is at discount level,  and that is low price.

Let's say when Bitcoin was below 20k price that was a good time to buy and be able to hold for long term goals.
Sorry, I forgot to mention what asset I was talking about, but you have guessed right. I invest in bitcoin for the long term, so my focus on this topic is about good indicators for investing in bitcoin.

You made the right choice by investing in Bitcoin and choosing bitcoin for the long-term investment goal,  this is the best choice when it comes to assets for long-term potential because Bitcoin has proven over time to be the most sustainable asset class for long-term holding and this is what has motivated many of us into holding bitcoin and choosing it for the long term goals.

Most especially anyone that bought below the 20k region most especially those that bought bitcoin at $15k when the bottom low was hit the last time.

I know that no indicator is perfect, but after reading some of your opinions I should be able to gather a few things that I can consider so that my investment plan for the long term is really well managed.

Target the dip and invest, hodl and wait till after halving to know what will come forth after your long time hold, by then, bullrun is the main target of everyone investing on a long run, it's not too late for such time now.

So far I've only invested on a cyclical basis, but I'd love to get your experience into consideration for my future investment plans.

I would have like to introduce you with DCA method but since you're going long and big probably, you can set a time frame for your buy and hold at once, you can ever loose as log as you invested now because we are still on the dip.

There are no indicators like many people say for long-term investment, I don't know what you mean by indicators that can analyze into the future? But I think it's difficult and there can't be a more accurate indicator.

You intend to invest long-term of course in bitcoin, right?
See how the history of bitcoin travel is able on its way back to its peak again? Then see what happens after the halving event occurs, maybe many people can say it is a bullish trend, therefore you don't need any indicators in bitcoin investment while prices are still low, then do your strategy whether by DCA or lumpsum.

Why do you need an indicator if you will invest long term. You don’t need any major buy signal to purchased tokens while you can use DCA method to safely enter since your goal will long term. You are decided to trust the project that’s why you will go long term or else you should just invest short term.

Simply browse the chart and use a ling time frame so that you can see what project is down a lot from all time high and stay at the bottom until now. Make sure to use fundamental analysis to backup your technical analysis to make sure that you are not buying a dead project.

You don't need indicators for long term investment. All you have to have is a target at what price you want to sell your coins. If your coin is bitcoin, you must be clear in determining your target selling price, and if it reaches your selling price, you better sell it immediately, especially if it is the new ATH price for bitcoin. When it reaches the peak price, the bitcoin price will definitely experience a correction, and often we see the price immediately drop to the lowest price again and will be there for some time. That's what I do for long term investing in bitcoin, so I don't think too much about the volatile price it is right now.

Not really sure what you mean, but if you are really holding bitcoin for a long term or at least one cycle (4 years), then all you have to do is to buy specially at bear market. You don't need to wait when to buy, no need to time the lowest low or bottom price because no one can see that.

All you have to do is to just buy as much as you can in years regardless of what the price will be and then HODL and then like what others did, wait for the bull run and then sell and make profits.

There is no need for any indicators in long-term investment, for example you invested in bitcoin ATH before $69K and the current price is $30K half ATH from the previous price, if you believe in the 4-year cycle then at $30K it is time to enter with your investment, while many speculators that the upcoming ATH is more than $100K.

Indicators are more precise on trading, but long-term investment is quite simple buy, then HODL.

This.

I was just thinking about the same thing.

I invest for the long term and I don't look at indicators. I look at the essential properties of Bitcoin and its history, which makes me think that the price will continue to rise more and more during the following cycles. Therefore, at what price I can buy now is not so important. I do DCA and that's it. But even if I had a lump sum to invest for the long term, holding it for a couple of cycles, I would invest it today at the price it is, because trying to get it right if the price goes up or down a bit is not going to make a significant difference in profitability, and you can always be wrong.

Go for basic or core indicators that are common now.
Because I can see a lot of traders are just using these basics indicators for aged or since they are trading.
You just need to master it and know when and where to use it.
Because me, that's also what I am using, I am not fan on some indicators that will just make your chart messy.

There are no accurate long term indicators. I assumed the 200 WMA was a rock solid indicator because it predicted the last 3-4 bottoms. Then when it appeared as support back in 2022, it broke thru.

Same is true for any other long term indicators that have 100% win rate. They might have predicted 3-4 times in the past but it’s not enough history for it to be accurate long term.

Simply there are no accurate long term indicators.
