It will be a great opportunity if one can create a forum for this. The growth and popularity of cryptocurrency may be extremely in the future that even uneducated men and women in rural areas and villages in many developing countries of the world may love to be part of the crypto can the process to make crypto offline class work.

Y'all, I'm all for spreading the knowledge of crypto to the less privileged in developing nations. But you know what, I ain't so sure that in-person classes are the way to do it. The thing with face-to-face classes is they might not be as bang up-to-date as the interweb, which is forever changing and getting better. Not only that, it could be a tough ask to find teachers who live in the boondocks that know enough about crypto to educate others. Don't get me wrong though, I still believe offline classes could be a success with the right tactics. Maybe we could blend it up a bit, you know, with a mix of virtual and in-person sessions. Either way, we gotta ensure that the schooling of cryptocurrency is open to all.

Operating crypto without the use of Internet will be very useful thing to all of the individuals who desires to be a part of bitcoin but I don't think that it will be possible because in present age everything is possible because of Internet. Without Internet the popularity of bitcoin will not be possible as all the socials media are possible because of Internet.

Yes it is difficult for those people who lives in villages to be a part of bitcoin  because there is no such facilities of interest or those areas where Internet is available so the quality of Internet is so weak that it cannot operate the system quickly. The fact is that transaction of bitcoin and investment cannot be possible without Internet may be in future there originates some technologies where it can be possible but it will take longer time to happen.

Before now, just the rich have access to a computer for browsing and remembered going to cyber cafes to access the internet for browsing but when there was an improvement in technology and we have different types of browsing phones and apps life became easier. I came to know about the Bitcoin forum because I have access to the internet but with advancements in technology we can get to a stage using codes on our phone and following the instructions to get the Bitcoin wallet and buying and selling.

I suppose it depends highly on hardware. Many areas in the world don't have stable mobile networks, so there are not much possibilities for internet infrastructure, though fiat money is being used everywhere, and fiat money is actually produced using technologically advanced equipment (paper and paint should be of high quality, many picture details and watersigns need to be performed with high accuracy etc). The same is true for bank cards. So there is a way for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to become useful in areas with low network coverage: it may be something like mass produced e-wallets with displays (nowadays there are enough technogy resources to start mass production of these things, just in the way fiat money is produced). And, transactions go offline until there is a way to join global network for any of the devices in the area, then data is uploaded and added to the main blockchain.

And the truth is that Bitcoin will never exist without the internet. Mr. Satoshi can't make this great technology without the internet running through it. In fact, it was created because he knows that the internet will spread globally and it becomes useful to many lives.
Just think about it, we are in the Internet era and if it is gone, Bitcoin will go as well. And so all online businesses will say goodbye for this is not applicable anymore, even ATM machines - nobody use cards anymore in this case.

In the end it's still need an internet connection, it's impossible if Bitcoin transaction can be made without internet.

There's digital currencies that transact without using the internet. But in Bitcoin case, I think it wouldn't be applicable with its live changing of value from time to time which can't affect many of its transaction. With internet you can be updated to any news to Bitcoin. Its like converting currencies in fiat money, where they only rely on fixed value than to its live value. For example dollar, if they've seen its value in the morning to $1= 50PHP then that would be the value til evening. But if we based on the live value of it, it might became $1= 55PHP later on.

I think nowadays most people already have at least one cellphone and internet cost is cheap enough, many places already have free public wifi that you can use, but it might compromise your privacy and security.

Having connection to internet is cheap, load your cellular data cost like $1 here in my country. Which is good for like a week. The convenience the internet gives since everywhere you can do some trading and investing as long as you have internet.

The problem is that most Bitcoin transactions will need an internet connection to work, so this will be exactly difficult to do without any internet. This is also an advanced technology, which is why not all people are aware, interested in, and also understand Bitcoin. Like what happened to my parents, there are internet connections in their area, but once told about cryptocurrency, they don't understand whatever I tried to explain. The concept is too different from their reality And we cannot force them to understand this, because sometimes, there is better if they only know certain things. hahaha

There is the option to use Bitcoin with simple SMS messages that you can basically send in most areas. Those services are not secure however and should not be used for large amounts. With the growing amount of at least LTE/2G areas, this issue should sooner or later be an issue of the past. Also you could trade with paper wallets offline if you trust the other person.

This is the first time I am hearing this. Let come to think of it it on how possible could it be for you to run transactions without the internet. How on earth would the transaction be successful if we come to think of it again. I think op does not really know the potential of the internet to this generation. The internet is what enable us to connect to the world.
Without the internet we can't even interact on social or send messages to our friends from other region. If cryptocurrency does not need the internet for transactions to be executed then many things could go wrong and the system will be easy to manipulate.

There is some concept created years ago that allows the sending of Bitcoin offline and there's also an altcoin created that allow spending of cryptocurrency through text message but the concept never pushed through maybe lack of fund or the crypto community being more into the online aspect than offline because most users never join the conversation.
I don't really understand how a concept can work for sending or receiving Bitcoins offline while the blockchain network is totally online and cannot be used without internet access. Even the text message method doesn't sound realistic to me. How come to a text message that is sent over a mobile network can reach the blockchain and make a transaction from it?

The concepts most probably didn't work or succeed and that's why they were never announced or used publicly or they could at least get some popularity if they were viable solutions. Cryptocurrencies simply cannot work without the internet because they are digital, simple as that.
I know it is hard to believe that some project was once created that will allow sending of Bitcoin transactions offline luckily did some search and i find the project it's called the Kryptoradio "project ended in December 2014 but the project is not entirely forgotten in the last year and a half. The project raised huge audience and there has been some serious commercial interest but nothing I am really interested in because they would destroy the original idea of Kryptoradio – distributing the Bitcoin ledger autonomously without Internet connectivity." Here is another concept for sending Bitcoin without the internet.
For the project that allows sending of crypto in form of text messages, it is something that tried myself years ago but i don't remember the coin name.

Sending Bitcoin is one thing and confirming transactions is another thing.  It is still a huge question whether it is possible to confirm Bitcoin transaction without the use of internet.  Satellite internet already implies its name, it still works as internet.

Internet as taken from its definition:

Quote
a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.

so anything that functions this way can be called an internet.  And bitcoin can't be confirmed and communicated to validate transactions without the use of the internet.  So I think that confirmation of the transaction of cryptocurrency is impossible without the internet, so I think it is one of the conditions for cryptocurrency to get established worldwide.

No matter how we try to explain things, it will still not count as a successful transaction without internet service. I saw a post earlier this month or last on this forum regarding a means of transferring bitcoin using SMS, which I was totally against because that pattern can only be possible if it operates under a centralized platform and will later record or execute the transaction online with the help of the internet. It's impossible to make Bitcoin transactions offline because the transaction being recorded on the blockchain requires the internet, and a transaction can only be said to be completed if it has been recorded.
You are right because This is super dumb idea by send Btc Through sms lol 😂😆
I don't know if Internet is Necessary for crypto or not but Maybe if there was no any Internet than maybe No any kind of crypto to be born.
We are living in an internet World where we can download Movie in a single minute because of fastest internet called 5G internet. So Internet and Blockchain technology are co related with Each other.

It's not exactly a stupid idea, but it also doesn't bring any benefit as it ultimately requires an internet connection to complete the transaction. But why do we think about this, it can be said the internet is an integral part of our world, without it, many things wouldn't work, and we'd be back to the primeval times, let alone whether or not cryptocurrencies existed. The Internet is as important as water in our modern life.
I agree that the idea is not stupid, for we are all open to things and technology that will make things better. But these ideas to me are just something I can't stop imagining how it's going to be a double task and take lots of resources to develop something whose main purpose is to avoid the use of the internet or, shall I say, to help perform transactions by those who are not connected to the internet. But at the end of the day, you will still need the help of the internet to broadcast your transaction online, where it will be confirmed by miners and recorded on the blockchain.

So what's the point of going through all this stress again when you can just use the same old method? Unless we are ready for centralized transactions, which can be carried out within a platform just by using the user's mobile number or which can be presented as pay ID, that's the only way I see this kind of transaction being successful without an internet connection.

IIRC, there have been a topic that's made about this before. Speculations have been said like electromagnetic waves could be an alternative of it if it's just about the transfer.

But with confirmation, it cannot be replaced as it really needs to be connected in the internet. Also, it won't be a problem in the future about connectivity since there have been companies that offers satellite connection which will make almost everyone connected to the web.

Aside from EM waves, there can be some ways to make use of bluetooth, infrared, radio waves and other of the same thing that has frequencies and can be reinvented for connections and transfers.

These people you are talking about, are they illiterate? Rural areas and villages now have schools, and if education is ongoing in such areas then they can be thought about Bitcoin and crypto, yes bitcoin can be taught offline, many seminars have been held in different parts of the world and you don't need an internet connection to make this work.

If we are to talk about Bitcoin transactions offline, well that's not going to work because to send your Bitcoin into another wallet you will need an internet connection

Indeed have concept with sending or receiving cryptocurrency fund without access internet how possibility for trader or investor selling their fund and not ability access to exchange market. I think impossible cryptocurrency worth without internet because every wallet access actually with hardware wallet need synchronize and have to access with fast internet speed.

I don't know about how concept received and sending bitcoin offline because every transaction need to check on blockchain confirmation and take internet access, however not worth for investor or trader if bitcoin offline concept because impossible for trading, investing and selling our assets when price dump or pump. Cryptocurrency without have internet access not working yet I think although have new ideas and concept created later about Bitcoin offline transaction.
until its development so far bitcoin is very dependent on the internet network, so transfers cannot be made without the internet. but we don't know whether in later development it can be done offline, but according to my logic it seems difficult to happen, considering that we can find out price movements, namely online

Internet is like a basic need now these days considering how almost what most of the things we do everyday now requires one and it is not digitalized and hell, I am not surprised that one day "desktop computer" are even going to be basic needs the same way as how smartphones are like it now these days.

That's one of the weakness of crypto though, the internet. Though considering how easy for most of us can access the internet even with the limited data now these days. It is not that big of a deal.

Even though it is identical to the virtual world network, it turns out that Bitcoin can be used without the internet which has been proven to be done by Africans. However, Bitcoin peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions can be carried out without an internet connection in Africa, using a solution called “Machankura.”

According to media quotes, South African software developer Kgothatso Ngako, has created a tool called Machankura in 2022. Machankura was created to make it easier for Africans to access Bitcoin despite the lack of equity and strength of the internet network there. The device uses the phone's Subscriber Identity Module telecommunications network to access the Lightning Network via USSD, which is similar to Interactive Voice Response (IVR). We usually encounter IVR programs when contacting service provider services, by selecting a number (for example, there is a voice prompt "press 1" for customer assistance and so on) to select the desired service.
The difference is, USSD is not present in the form of sound like IVR, but in the form of writing or text.

It is known that Machankura has been used by more than 2,900 citizens in more than seven countries in Africa, such as Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Malawi, Namibia and others.
Even though the internet is not very reliable in Africa, this actually brings a new idea to present Bitcoin transactions offline.

The question will be also like this, can a certain industry that is connected tot he world globally exist without the internet? The answer may be yes they can still exist offline only. But there will be so many problems because it is only, there will be many limitations. Probably there will not be any volume in the market, because the crypto market always needs an internet connection to operate, store assets, sell and buy, and do all transactions from crypto to your banks. This will need exact internet. If there is no internet, how can it operate? Because Bitcoin and other cryptos do not have a tangible form that can be held such as money or other necessities.

And what problem will it solve?I don’t see any point in this.Even if there is no Internet then cryptocurrency will not help there. You need to solve the basic things first and then think about technologies and their applications.Investments are very individual and it would be a great advantage if they have access to them at any time of the day and without the Internet this would not be possible.

And the presence of crypto provides greater hope because we can try to make money through crypto. And many people have proven it so this makes many people more interested in becoming part of investors in crypto.

Just as bitcoin adoption continues in rural areas and technological developments will continue to comb rural areas for the wider internet. In the end, everyone will be connected to the internet, including in rural areas which are currently not connected. Technology will not limit internet travel, but will continue to find places that are increasingly widespread in all corners.

In the worst case we can consider offline transactions, but not really sure of the exact formula to describe it, other than that technology is impossible to go backwards and will definitely continue to evolve.

Cryptocurrency is completely internet based.  Hence it is never possible to complete a Bitcoin transaction without a successful internet connection. It works in the form of block transactions in a peer-to-peer network, many number of blocks must be passed before a Bitcoin transaction is complete. So without internet it will not be possible to success a transaction in any way. So Bitcoin cannot be imagined without internet. I don't think it can ever happen now or in the future.  But it may be that all smartphones can run on only one connection worldwide by connecting directly through satellite without being covered by any SIM card or broadband.  In this case no country specific SIM card is required and a mobile phone will always have a high speed net connection. but Bitcoin transaction in offline is totally impossible

Instead of complicating this problem and turning it into an idea, share your money with the poor. And not only money but also the story of sharing knowledge to all, but the new thing that appears has its barriers and limitations so that everyone can easily access it. However, the cryptocurrency market brings fairness and equality to us so it seems to me that some poor countries will need economic support as well as knowledge so that they do not lag behind change of society.
Sharing money with the poor is charity and I call it charity work, but for now with economic conditions that some people are still not in the prosperous category, it seems very difficult to do this even if you say the cryptocurrency market brings justice and equality. But for now only people who are used to being in the market can feel this, while those who are still poor seem to find it difficult to feel justice and equality.

Because no doubt in the future the price will be extreme, and as such create an avenue for more people to be more involved. It is really impossible as it involves the internet to process the transactions and also there is no crypto without the internet, imagine how we connect with each other, how do we send things if there is no internet connection? So the internet plays a big factor in this. Also, the internet was used for everything so it would be chaos now if the internet will be gone. regarding bitcoin transaction, there are thread about here to send it but you need to have still internet connection so still it is impossible
Imagine life without the internet; everything would fall dormant; it would certainly transport us back to the Paleolithic era, when there was no internet. Our daily online transactions depend on the internet, which also helps information move more quickly. Crypto cannot be accessed if the internet is not functioning. Bitcoin is a legitimate project with a promising future for investors and traders. We consequently completely depend on the internet to carry out our daily tasks, which therefore contributes significantly to cryptocurrency.

It's not entirely impossible to use Bitcoin without the Internet in principle, but I think it should be relevant if something major happens to global communications, energy security, Internet connection or something like that, not when there are simply areas with low Internet penetration. I believe that access to the Internet is very important, so bypassing it and working on access to Bitcoin but not the Internet just feels limiting to me, doesn't make sense. The Internet opens up so many possibilities, and Bitcoin is just one aspect of a larger thing.

Bitcoin was created and exists thanks to the internet, without the internet, how can bitcoin work? The internet today is like water, it is an important part of our lives, we can go without food for many days but cannot go without water for a long time. If I weren't exposed to the internet regularly, I wouldn't invest in cryptocurrencies.
I also think like @armanda90, bitcoin is very volatile, and when I invest in it without being able to check its value, it poses a lot of risk to me. There are still some parts of the world that are not connected to the internet, but with the current development, I believe that the internet will have global coverage in the near future.
Cryptocurrency should be an alternative to the current cash and non-cash payments precisely because it cannot function without an Internet connection. Many on this forum predict the spread of cryptocurrencies in the near future, even in remote rural areas of developing countries. I do not think that this will happen in the near future. We are now experiencing an exacerbation of the period of wars and various cataclysms due to a sharp climate change on our planet. Because of this, there will be problems with both products and material resources. Therefore, poverty, hunger and everything that accompanies them will continue. At the same time, the well-being of people as a whole on the planet will not only not increase, but may also fall significantly.

In the future, cash will probably be replaced by digital currency like CBDC, but I agree with you that it will not happen anytime soon. It is not war or inflation that hinders it, but it can be said that the world is developing, but there are still many places that still do not have internet or smartphones. Another thing is that the world population of older people in previous generations is still large, and they have difficulty accessing technology, so getting rid of cash will be a big problem for them.

As our lives increasingly depend on the internet and technology, it makes no sense to try to find a way to generate cryptocurrency without the internet.

I believe something like this has been discussed before. It will be pointless trying to summarize all that was said in the previous thread because so many ideas were shared if you'll be interested in knowing how the discussion went then check out this thread.
Transfer bitcoins without internet

As far as I understand what OP is conveying, I think he is referring to an offline class where individual from rural areas where there is no internet  can learn things about Bitcoin.  I do think that it is possible since there are offline source of information like pamphlets, books and even newspapers featuring Bitcoin.  It just need a person who will volunteer to do researches.

But if we are talking about transaction, it always needs internet to be confirmed.  Transaction might be possible for offline but confirmation will always need an internet.

It is really impossible as it involves the internet to process the transactions and also there is no crypto without the internet, imagine how we connect with each other, how do we send things if there is no internet connection? So the internet plays a big factor in this.
Asking if it is possible for cryptocurrency to exist without the internet is like saying if it is possible for a house to stand without a foundation. In how things are, one thing will not be able to exist properly without the other, that is cryptocurrency will not be able to do well and have a proper image without the internet, and the internet would never have been complete with a form of digital currency that is controlled by a system out of the control of the government. Cryptocurrency will not be cryptocurrency without the internet.

You need to synchronize with other full nodes, and this will happen via the Internet, whether you connected directly to the Internet, or through a third party connected to the Internet, whether that party receives instructions from you via SMS, radio waves, satellite Internet, or other methods.

Its correct you can broadcast that TX but you need to trust other party.

The growth and popularity of cryptocurrency may be extremely in the future that even uneducated men and women in rural areas and villages in many developing countries of the world may love to be part of the crypto can the process to make crypto offline class work.
It will be great to see alot of people be part of the crypto world but I don’t think it would be possible to operate cryptocurrency offline without internet connection. Bitcoin is not like fiat currency Bitcoin is decentralized, transactions need to be verified to be recorded on the blockchain and for that miners need to be connected to the internet.

What did you guys think?
Are you suggesting they make like a card similar to atm cards which is linked to your address where you can carryout transactions?
I don’t know what will happen in the future but bitcoin was not created initially to replace fiat, it was just created to serve as an online payment method and also an alternative means for payments. Even if it’s possible to operate cryptocurrency offline maybe it would be in another generation to come.

Before asking the question If crypto without Internet, did you ask yourself that what if the world no longer have Internet?

Nowadays, if the world no longer have Internet, many operations will be broken and we will have to go back to stone-age likely.
Indeed, the modern world revolves around the internet. Everything is always about how to make our lives easier, and if you look closely, the internet plays a crucial part. Even financial institutions have embraced mobile banking, which makes it simple to do transactions using your smartphone while connected to the internet.
Today's world is evolved, and even young children are being taught how to use the internet. We would be unable to quickly communicate with people throughout the world without the internet.

What I often think about is making profits through the crypto space by seeing more opportunities that exist and will come in the future, but along with this I also think about the risks that can occur at any time in the crypto space because the pleasure of many people in the crypto space is only happens when they make a profit. Meanwhile, when they suffer losses, not many of them have the patience to endure and some of them even leave the crypto space and run away to another place.

That type of people usually isn't a big optimist so rural people like you said also need to understand the risks as well as understand that the crypto space is an opportunity to work and make money. Because in crypto there is always a process that every new person must go through carefully.

While it is true that the use of cryptocurrency is heavily dependent on the internet, it is possible to create offline solutions for cryptocurrency transactions by using physical storage devices or other offline methods.

However, the widespread adoption of such solutions would require significant education and infrastructure improvements in rural areas and developing countries. Nonetheless, it is an interesting idea and could be a worthwhile endeavor to explore further.

You own the pen
As long as your bitcoins are secured you don't really need always to have access to the internet and you could just let it be like that until you finally want to withdraw it and find someplace where you can access the internet. The problem you are talking about here is when those people that are living in the area where they don't even know how to use computers and how can they use bitcoins? That's why we don't totally remove fiat because for the last hundreds of years, we are using it and for the people there to adjust to using bitcoins instead of fiat will be impossible. Bitcoins right now are only for people that are computer literate and it will gonna change in the future when we see some ads about using bitcoins shown on national televisions and other advertisements.

Alternatives of offline-transfers aside, it's safe to assume that as time goes, internet adoption(or at least the stability and accessibility) on poorer countries will go up as well. Hopefully in parallel to bitcoin/crypto adoption.

Yeah, it should. You can't keep up abusive telecommunication treaties and poor network infrastructure forever.

Eventually, everyone's going to be connected to the internet in one form or another, though it may not be with today's devices. It could be with hardware wallets that get a direct internet connection from Starlink, for example.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
Those rural people are nowadays getting access to electricity and internet at homes or moving to cities with these facilities for studies and work. Thus the possible population which can take part in crypto is ever increasing.

Hence I don't think non-internet crypto should be a problem at this point.

Besides what I tried to highlight in another similar thread was that in case the internet went down, bitcoin would be the least of your problems as that would be a war like situation and all the internet based services would have shut down, like an apocalypse.

What the arguments about lack of internet usually forget is that internet is used in a lot of things and without it majority of what we do every day becomes impossible or at least extremely hard. It is the same with bitcoin, it will be extremely difficult to make it work without the internet.
Besides, a lot of villages and rural areas have already gotten access to the internet. We have a lot more to worry about regarding the adoption among average Joes first before wanting to get everyone else who don't have access to the internet to adopt bitcoin.

There are alternative with SMS code from some companies but they are middle men and we should not trust them. SMS code is weak too.

https://www.cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-without-internet-sms-service-allows-sending-btc-with-a-text/

Most important, this method works only if Bitcoin network operates that needs to have Internet connection among miners and nodes.

Yea, they're bandage solutions, but I don't think SMS is the solution. I think increase in internet access is still the solution — maybe through typical internet service providers, or through something like Elon Musk's Starlink.

so far, digital transactions require the internet, especially for crypto users, the internet is something that is required. sending bitcoins from wallet to wallet requires an internet network, and viewing transactions also require the internet. in fact, if it could be done without the internet, it might be very difficult to use, and maybe the development would slow down and tend to drop.

If vast majority of countries are have access with electricity and internet connection, why we should care with the poor countries? the problem of poor countries are mostly because of corruption and high criminal, if all citizens working together to improve their country, sooner or later they will have access to electricity and internet connection. Do not forget despite Bitcoin is really trusted and transparent, there's still people call Bitcoin is scam which mean you can't please everyone.

As time goes on, i believe it would be possible because development is dynamic and not static. Same way bitcoin was developed so it will be possible to do bitcoin transfer offline. If banks could use Mobile codes for transfer of funds without internet service,  i think that can be achieved with bitcoin as it will take a whole lots of planning and codes to achieve but i believe this can only be possible in countries that accepts bitcoin as a digital legal tender.

Internet has gone through many developments and nowadays in Russia - Ukraine war, we see how Satellite Internet can operate well.

In 1990s, people wanted to ban Internet. Around 1995, Internet ?
In 2023, Bitcoin?

They tried to ban the Internet and people to use Internet.

bitcoin is a digital currency that certainly cannot be touched by our hands, and of course making transactions requires the internet to be connected.

and what makes bitcoin popular is because of the internet and people are comfortable buying and selling via the internet.

But if you learn Bitcoin without the internet? I don't think that is an excuse. There are a lot of ways to learn Bitcoin these days. Since Bitcoin became known over the world, there are already lot of ways to learn with the internet and internet connection.

There are not matter and how worth when investing with Bitcoin without technology or internet, seems impossible many people will excited for investing in Bitcoin without have access to internet. I think how bitcoin popular nowadays depend with internet access and not ability withdrawing bitcoin fund trough local currency exchange as offline seems without internet bitcoin less worth.

I will think twice for investing in Bitcoin and several altcoin if there are not access to internet, how possibility I check with my portfolio without have access with internet. Most important is internet access and seems when I am going to some where without access internet not comfortable for checking my cryptocurrency assets.
