Having a passion for something is only one aspect of the factors that contribute to your chance of having a success with something. There are other factors like "hard work ethic / Having a market for your goods or service / timing  etc... that has to happen, for people to make a success of their projects.

They say, a person that loves their job... do not work a day in their life... and that is why those people are successful. They do not care to work overtime or to do anything extra to make a success of their work.  Wink

Your question already has an answer, and to elaborate more on it, this is because they took the risk, which is why they are now where they wanted to be, but again, all of us will not have the same results as them because others may fail, and that would be difficult for those people. It is a combination of knowledge and luck on their side that makes it successful. If I compare this to my life right now, if I took a risk on my passion, for sure, my family would have nothing to eat. That is why I didn't take the risk.

In story 1, Defossey left a job at Apple to open a BBQ restaurant in Mexico City. It made $9 million in sales last year. In story 2, Sean Audet, a 30-year-old, spent $0 launching a food photography side hustle, and now he brings in $134,000 a year.

The people in these stories followed their passion and created wealth through it. What is your opinion on following one's passion in relation to wealth? Can your passion lead to an increase in your net worth? If yes, what is stopping you from following it?
Before I go ahead to either be for or against the notion, I would first like to warn that, being wrongly motivated to take drastic measures without a careful and calculated plan to back it up has ruined many. Don't be in a rush to believe just what you want because you find it working in someone else's life.

Following one's passion has gotten many fame and lifetime of success as much as it has resulted in the poor state or failure of few.
I recall a fellow of mine while in high school, he had a passion for singing and at some point, he dropped out to pursue a music career. His tuition fees and house rent wasn't spared in this endeavour.

Unfortunately for him, his plans vaporised right before his eyes and years after we've all graduated, he came back to enrole in high school again. Years wasted in chasing a dream your not sure of and with plans that wasn't carefully calculated.

those will be lessons in life we need to carry on for the rest of our lives. as long as we live on this earth, we have hope to change our lives for the better. it may take years before we came to the point that we need a change in route. but at least, we are open to change. with passion or not, our life is basically carve by our choices in life. we can always change the path by changing our life's choices even if we take a lifetime of changing it, so long you have hope, we can overcome such bottlenecks.

There are many diverse opinions about following one's passion and wealth. I read two stories of people who followed their passion, and in a short period of time, the businesses became very profitable.

In story 1, Defossey left a job at Apple to open a BBQ restaurant in Mexico City. It made $9 million in sales last year. In story 2, Sean Audet, a 30-year-old, spent $0 launching a food photography side hustle, and now he brings in $134,000 a year.

It is never that simple, it is true that if you are doing an activity you like then by virtue of spending more time doing it and by not feeling you are working at all then you will better in that activity compared to an activity you do not like, however this does not guarantee that you can reach the level necessary to profit from it or if the activity itself can be monetized, so in some cases following your passion is without a doubt the correct choice, while in other cases is a huge mistake to follow it.

It depends on what one is passionate about really. When passion turns to money is if one has taken the time to refine it into a skill that is unique. Here, passion becomes value and value is money.
Passion for something, is love for the idea of it. It is love for the process and the result; the results of time, commitment and attention. No one is also advised to do what they don't love, and when doing what you love, make sure such passion pays for the time spent on it, and brings fulfilment in return.

Intellectual property is one way passionate people have wealth and increase their networth.
So yes, a passion that is refined accordingly can lead to an increase of my networth.

It would be still a hit or miss because if we do speak about assurance on what your future be like then there's no one would be able to know and this is something that would be still risky if you do leave your current job

just because you do go on what you have desired or on your passion. It did really just turns out that those people mentioned above did really be able to succeed on what they had trying out to pursue but we know that in this world that not everyone who would follow with their passion would really be ending up positive, theres always those people who do fail up on doing so. This is why when it comes to choices then it would really be entirely be depending on someone because not all would really be that so risk taker when it comes to this kind of decisions and this is why even if they dont like on the current job they do have but they cant really afford on losing it, considering that finding a job nowadays is really that pain in the ass due to extreme competition. Its true that its not really that good on working into something which is out of your interest but this hard life does really
give out you no choice but to deal with it.

Hypothetically speaking, you can monetize almost anything. So it's possible to make your passion work for you, but how hard or easy it is to achieve this depends on what your passion is. If your passion is programming, you won't have a problem finding a high-paying job. But if you passion is playing video games, you'll have less options - becoming a videogame streamer, bloggger, journalist, pro gamer, etc. The demand for those experts is far lower than the number of gamers.

All that OP have shared are the success stories. Same as the success story we were able to see good number of Store that are hidden as they followed the passion and failed in life leaving their comfort. This happens, and to my understanding when one have decided to follow the passion and grow high he/she should have the ability to withstand long term. Some might be lucky to succeed at the shortest and the same doesn't happen with everyone.

Most times, one's passion may not increase his net worth as without the necessary capital to help turn the passion to a lucrative business, the passion has a high chance of either dying because the stress of seeking for investors and taking loans maybe discouraging or incur loss because the profit gained is far lower than the capital invested.

On rare occasions when there is sufficient funding for the business, the passion would not only increase one's net worth but also serve as a source of employment to many because as the demand for the product increases so does demand for manpower.

It is highly recommended that one have a stable source of income before pursing your passion so that the income from passion isn't the only source of income and in a case where the passion is incurring loss, you still have a steady income to provide for daily necessities.

There's following your passion that will lead you to wealth, and then there's following your passion when it only conveniences you.

There's no doubt the people you mentioned here, and a couple more unsung ones achieved financial freedom if not complete wealth from following their passions. However, they did so with discipline and a thirst for success. If you don't have those things with you and you're going for your passion in search of profit or catharsis, that's not a passion, that's a hobby. Honestly, nothing bad about having a hobby every now and again but things aren't getting any easier for us Average Joes out here, inflation biting us in the ankles, quality of the environment going to the shitbox, to name a few. Only resolution we can achieve is actually paying our way into a better life, which in my experience couldn't be achieved by slaving away your life to your regular 9-5, so there's that.

The people in these stories followed their passion and created wealth through it. What is your opinion on following one's passion in relation to wealth?

Whether a person accumulates wealth or not by following his passion depends on the kind of passion he has.  If his passion is non-market related then obviously it won't make him accumulate money.  But if his passion is related to business and wealth accumulating activity then its obviously can acquire the person way more wealth than his job.

Can your passion lead to an increase in your net worth? If yes, what is stopping you from following it?

I already stated that it depends on the kind of passion the person is into.  If it is related to finance and business then yes it helps a lot to increase a person's net worth because he will be doing all his best and his endeavor fueled with passion means he will not easily to give up on any hardship.

there are many success stories that happened because they chose to follow their passion rather than being under someone else's company but there are also many failure stories of someone who followed their passion and chose to return to being an employee.  i mean the path to success for everyone is different, you may be lucky to be successful with the passion you have but other people may not necessarily be able to emulate it, even so don't give up for anyone, reach for your dreams as hard as possible and find the best way to achieve it.

Passion + Job is actually the best combination anybody can ask for,  but unfortunately most people's work today is far from their passion as it's all based on  getting paid!

But if anybody found themselves doing a job or work they loved with a passion,  chances are high that they will work without any supervision which translates into bonuses, overtime and possibly a promotion...which .means net with of you goes up as more money comes your way.

Definitely you passion can set you up for financial freedom for life, in fact you have a better chance of making it from something you are passionate about tgan you are from something you just want to do.

Many athletes today are making it in live doing what they Re passionate about doing and I feel if they had done Anything else they would have probably not been so financially solid from it.

I believe if we keep pursuing our passion, then we will never end up in a wrong path. However, that’s not the only factor to increase our net worth and make our business completely successful and profitable. We should also have the core values and attitudes that will help us sustain the investment and make it a long term business. Passion is not enough, hardwork and perseverance are also highly important.

Following one's passion will ensure one put in your best into your business or career one finds himself, which will lead to positive results in whatsoever you put your mind in. The first thing that might be stopping one is the financial factor, from the example those people worked at a point and come have accumulated wealth to open up their new business. Also, environmental factors and economic situation because your passion might be watered down in your present country and you will need to relocate to a place where it is more valued.

There is no short amount of way to seize any opportunity, if one's passions are niche enough it also does not count. In the abundance of how the current information flows and how it is potentially able to spread, even if you are not fully leaving a job or a deed, having an extra side project might able to increase or pave the way into a new income channel. You don't have to commit deeply, similar to your second case, initially.

It is a certain thing that publishing your passion, especially in the form of content, might open up the opportunity to monetize it. In the end, it is one of many examples that are surely able to increase someone's income. Actually, there are many examples, but the gist of it is that if we utilize the potency of many digital media, the possibility is enormous.

Passion is not enough to make you succeed in life, what passion does is to keep you going when the road is tough. The people you mentioned above made it because they have a sound go to market strategy, a lot of people have made such decisions and regret the decision. I will advice to always think through very well before jumping the gun especially for those that have a well paid job because this might be a decision they will regret forever
