Why don't you test if they work or not? And share the results with us.

Yeah, but then i can't sell the 7950 as new Sad

Basically, I bought the MSI 280x's for £230 on sale. If i sell my 7950 for £265 then I can buy another MSI 280x for £270 but its not on sale anymore Sad

You are talking shit, I used to run very diverse specter of cards, from 5870 up to 280X on single machine. You just need to configure cgminer properly, that is all...

For one thing, the 7950 likes -g 1 settings while the 280x(7970) likes -g 2 settings.

-g is your gpu-threads setting, and it's a serious serious pita getting cards liking different -g settings to work well with each other.

I've tried splitting config files between the -g 1 and -g 2 cards, batch files the same but the result is always the same, even after messing with the --gpu-map flag.

So im screwed basically Sad

As thah00pz stated, the 280x is a rebranded 7970 not a 7950... The 270x is neither a 7950, the 270x is a rebranded 7870.
In the future make sure you combine cards in the same range.

the 280x equivalent is the 7970, which can be run in crossfire since they're pretty much the same card

Hi, im about to make my very first litecoin/other alt coin mining rig. Some people said that 7950 and 280x may not run together properly. Is this true?

I already bought a:

Sapphire 3GB 7950 BOOST
MSI R9 280x
