pool is up???

pool is up but still under heavy ddos attack. im still not getting a connection just timing out

also mitigating of ddos is simple aslong as its a simple ddos attack slush is a very smart guy and can easily solve simple ddos attacks so im assuming this is either a bot net ddos multiple ip addresses rotating and causing mayhem or one of the newer ddos attacks where there using internet gateways to attack the dns. either way its not a simple one to solve.

the easiest ways to solve ddos is havr more bandwith than the attackers but this comes at a price there are people that do this the famous one being cloudflare or koddos but they cost

is it possible to catch some packets with wireshark or other program and see what type are, and then block udp and icmp and use egress filtering???

Hey so I can connect with the Getwork protocol, but this is what Stratum returns:

2013-04-16 20:09:35,092 WARNING proxy mining_proxy.test_update # Checking for updates...
2013-04-16 20:09:35,190 WARNING proxy mining_proxy.main # Trying to connect to Stratum pool at stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333

2013-04-16 20:09:35,287 INFO proxy mining_proxy.on_connect # Connected to Stratum pool at stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333

2013-04-16 20:09:40,381 WARNING proxy mining_proxy.main # PROXY IS LISTENING ON ALL IPs ON PORT 3333 (stratum) AND 8332 (getwork)
2013-04-16 20:09:40,381 WARNING proxy mining_proxy.main # -----------------------------------------------------------------------

2013-04-16 20:09:49,023 INFO proxy client_service.handle_event # New job 48 for prevhash fdf2e0fd, clean_jobs=False
2013-04-16 20:10:19,033 INFO proxy client_service.handle_event # New job 49 for prevhash fdf2e0fd, clean_jobs=False

I can connect via the getwork protocol (api.bitcon.cz:8332), but I can't on the stratum (stratum.bitcon.cz:3333)

Can someone help me? Cause no matter what I do, nothing seems to work...

As always, thanks in advance!

Newbie question here; I just set up Stratum, but due to the DDOS I'm not sure if I did it right. I want to get back to mining as soon as this is resolved, can anyone tell me if this error is just because of the DDOS or because I set up Stratum wrong?

2013-04-16 18:56:53,723 INFO proxy jobs. # C extension for midstate not available. Using default implementation instead.

Check Windows firewall settings and enable guiminer.

The whole pool is down right now. DDoS attack. Read this https://defuse.ca/bitcoin-pool-ddos.htm if you want to understand why this would be worse if Slush's Pool was a much larger operation. I'm mining solo until the pool comes back.

Very interesting. I feel like I would have figured this out on my own if I was a little bit more intelligent.

also you should change your setting to stratum
stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333

read there website there taking 10% of your earnings
14.04.2013
As announced in Getwork deprecation plan, the hashrate on Stratum is far above 90%, so workers which are still using the deprecated Getwork protocol are now charged by 10% fee. Please update your software and start using modern Stratum miners to reduce your fees back to 2%!

Just change your miner to other and list stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 manually.  You'll also be getting your share of the block fee's since slush shares them between all who use stratum.  That 33 btc was very nice a couple of days ago (8tbc block fee during the crash)

most of the time nothing but at the same time if you hit a few pools then the price of bitcoin fluctuates or if you keep a pool offline long enough then other pools get the chance to earn more bitcoins

overall its just some sad little prick who can press a button that needs his fingures cutting off... then his toes... then arms... then legs... then head and maybe some other bits inbetween

as people can tell i hate ddosing its a pussys way to do stuff and anyone doing it need to be shot
