also when i search for armory TWO icons to start it come up.  To be clear its six because there is 2 of each of: armory, armory(offline), Armory(test network). (edit: they have the same installed time stamp so they must be the same instance? seems strange).

edit 2: also armory doesn't show up in the ubuntu software "store". Once in awhile it does, seems intermittent at best.  Is that normal?

edit 3: found control + h to undhide files and found them. I'll post anything relevant in the next post.

How do I find the logs?

Look for armorylog.txt and dbLog.txt in ~/.armory
Sad

I 'm also basically a newbie.  I can find the files in the terminal but the first i opened has 17k lines and I can't even scroll to the bottom in a reasonable time.  I can't find the files in the gui folder tree, how do i find ~/.armory?

I actually got Ubuntu working which originally had the block chain I copied. The block chain is fine I synced and ran a lightning node. I have installed armory and it is hanging on...please wait the global tx history is being scanned. Is this normal. There is no percent or indication progress is being made. How do I find the logs? Where are the docs that tell me how to find them. Thx.

when its finished ill start armoryqt with this target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Armory\ArmoryQt.exe" --satoshi-datadir="g:\bitcoin"

Not sure if bitcoinqt should be running?  I think once its indexed and sync'd ill try closing it and running the armoryqt target.  If that doesn't handle Bitcoinqt in the background then i'll shut it down and run bitcoinqt (without reindex) and open armory with the target.  Just not sure which to do when otherwise.

If you have autobitcoind on (default setting), Armory will try to run bitcoind for you if it can't find an exsiting instance, otherwise it will just use the current instance.

Yes, but make sure to remove the -reindex after the first run.

I'm trying to start bitcoin-qt with a shortcut and the target is: "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -server -reindex -datadir="g:\bitcoin" will that work?  Once I successfully reindex I will try again with armory.

Then your Bitcoin Core is not configured to download it elsewhere... Did you start it from Armory? or did you start it manually?

Either way, it's "datadir" path is wrong if it is not downloading where you wanted it to.

Not sure what this is all about:

It might be that your bitcoin blocks are corrupt? You might need to shutdown Armory and start Bitcoin Core using -reindex, wait for that to finish and sync up, then delete the Armory databases and let Armory try rebuilding it's database again... If that still doesn't fix it, you might be looking at having to redo your entire blockchain Undecided

I grabbed the end of the "debug" file from the g: bitcoin folder.  Not sure if thats what you mean.  I didn't think I was running core at the time of the timestamps earlier this morning, but i could be mistaken.

I noticed its being remotely closed, is that normal?  Perhaps my isp feels I used to much bandwith or something?

That log looks pretty "clean"... it shows that it is using your G:\Bitcoin directory (or at least it is attempting to use it)... can you post the dbLog.txt as well? Given the lack of obvious issues with the Armory log... I suspect that is where the issue lies.

thank you for your patience, I meant to give this link: https://pastebin.com/3Ec5C907

It isn't every line from the log because every line is too big.  I think its the last log and I took out the repeated lines.  I'll try to run armory again in the meantime and if i haven't provide the proper log text I'll do that too if I need to give more.

the Armory log will show exactly where it is looking for your blocks and how it is invoking armoryDB... the armory db log will allow us to see if armoryDB has any problems reading the blocks etc... without this information we have no idea what exactly your issue is.

posting the last 10 lines of the log doesn't help at all... if they're too big for pastebin, delete your log files, start Armory again and then post the new logs via pastebin.

Yes I configured core to work from an external drive ie g:\bitcoin and I did the same for armory.  I think we can be confident core is reading and writing to the proper place.  I have armory unchecked in regard to controlling bitcoind etc which greys out the ability to control where armory sees the blockchain (g:\bitcoin etc) but i think i tried it both way (check and not checked).

I don't know what you want with the log file.  it is too big to fit into past bin.

I pasted the info from the last ********************* line

And didn't copy all the repeated lines.

I just copied the folder "bitcoin" from the ubuntu drive and set my pc to read off an external hd. Which seems to be working. Armory is stuck 300k blocks or something though. I think I might retry getting the bitcoin folder from the ubuntu drive.  I might have deleted something from the bitcoin folder?

It seems like Armory can't find your blocks folder... Did you configure Bitcoin Core to use a custom data directory? Or is it running from C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin ?

If it's in a custom directory... Did you configure Armory with the correct path?

Can you post the full logs? Please use Pastebin (Don't paste the log text into a post here) and post the Pastebin link here
