Yes but only in the newbie section, thats the problem.

It helps to stop a lot of spam. Plus you can learn a lot in the newbie section.

This makes no sense. I don't want to wait 4 fucking hours before I can post.

You can post. You just need to wait 6 min between posts, and you can't leave the newbie jail yet.

It is quite hard to find the info, so maybe this should be in a clear place to help newbies.

To be honest, I am so glad that I looked through this thread. Otherwise, I would never have known about all the requirement metrics (Someone should really compile a wiki on this). I was actually curious about how the activity was calculated too! I suppose it is a little extreme (i also found the restriction rather frustrating), but forum admins make the rules, so oh well.
Once you get past the intro restrictions, things do get a little easier, and in general, I find this forum very nice with lots of helpful people. SO yeah, wait for 4 hours, and make some meaningful posts!

I've run into the same thing. Had to log 4 hours on here before I can PM someone. Hopefully it will work now.

Yes, I just had that as well, I agree we need to keep scammers out of here, but its not really friendly to new users with all that hassle..

It's normal.
When you log in, it counts as a post (an action actually), so you have to wait 6 min (360 seconds) before posting your first message, because your activity is lower than 16.

i cant post anywhere... i always get the message that my ip has posted in the last 360 seconds... every computer, everyday.

edit: this is the 1st time i've been able to post in weeks... is there new rules for newbies? do i need a lot more posts now to post anywhere else?
