You are right because there’s a high chance to lose it all again when you manage to encounter a long series of losses since you will be easily tilted that result for more riskier bet just to chase losses.

I usually do this whenever I manage a huge win or dodge a huge loss by recovering in the end. I completely stop gambling for a long time until I cooldown and doesn’t think anymore my previous experience on gambling.

To me it's neither of those things most of the time. When I win big, I don't cash out immediately, but I don't keep playing either. What I do is I stop for the day, because I'm gambling for entertainment purposes and winning something like 100x+ of your bet is entertaining enough.
