This will definitely happen as its all about cost, and this is the next step to reducing costs. We just need to reduce the costs of running a blockchain. Once that happens, we will see mass adoption I believe.

An ideal cashless society is far from the reality, in India atleast. People have trouble getting good internet connections, many haven't used a computer in their lives too. When I try convincing some people to adopt BTC, they just shrug it off saying its just some HYIP/ponzi scheme. People have started using debit/credit cards/  netbanking to pay for stuff, but ideal cashless society is equipped with cryptocurrency, where the majority of the people of that society adopt cryptocurrencies, and that isn't happening anytime soon in India.

I don't think that those who support cashless society care whether its feasible or efficient. They esteem ideology over human concerns or standard of living.

Even in the united states many homeless or poor might be unable to buy or sell basic necessities like food if they were unable to afford a cell phone equipped with digital transaction/internet.

Maybe could starve or die if cashless society were adopted.

And that's why governments would not have success implementing it. Even if they tried to use violence, there would be rebellions everywhere...

I don't think we have another option to come out of the high inflation the whole world is experience now. Productions and regulations of fiat has cost the world so much. Cashless society will be the best thing to do. Should the world governments don't make effort to lean blockchain technology then the leaders will find it difficult to manage this great inflationthe whole world is going through now.

Payment Gateway Allows Recurring Payments
August 19, 2017, 07:07:22 AM
Without a doubt and I'm 100% very sure that cashless society will be coming soon. If I'm not mistaken it's already being done in Switzerland and in US. People have microchips on their hands and they are happily transacting in bars paying their bills. And in Switzerland, there's a company, I just forgot the name of it, their employees are required with it.

For technology this is correct every day we have something new and unique and in some way something that will ease our life in future years. Watches some documentary on discovery channel and they predict that by year 2020 we will have one thing for everything to be our smart solution. One device that will be our phone, PC, TV and car navigation.

So who know what will we expect in this 3 years from now. Maybe will be paying with our mind.

It would be amazing to have an all in one device like you said, in order to make our life easier. As technology is advancing at a fast pace, everything is possible here.

I believe that at some point in the future, internet access would spread at a global scale, allowing even third world countries to get a grasp of this technology. When this comes in, a cashless society may come into effect, as every device around the world will become empowered by the Internet of Value, allowing anyone to pay for services, in a quick and convenient way.

As for paying with our minds, this may not be far from becoming a reality within a few years from now. The whole world will change for the better with these technologies, as everything would be fully automated and autonomous, from drones to bots, and smart contract powered driverless cars. With a cashless society, all these things will become possible. Just my opinion Smiley
I’m not so sure that the consequences of a cashless society are going to be that good and that there are not going to be consequences, the reason governments are pushing for this is that they want to tax all your income and they want to know what you are doing with every transaction, so a cashless society is going to allow countries even more control over your life.

This is true, but still there would be a lot of debate and sessions to implement these cashless society. There are some countries that are using cashless money, that means they are using cards and I don't know what kind of rules and pricate protection they can guarantee to their own people cause I'm in the third world and people that have an ATm here is quite rare  Grin
As we carry on the danger of recording all your transactions and record will wreck the privacy of ours and I'm hoping that these block chain won't comes down to these. Like electrum the addresses is on your own.( Correct me if I'm wrong about electrum)

Abiky i believe a paper currency less society is possible but not in the recent future. First of all this will require universal free internet access which will not be possible until probably thirty years time that is even if the developed world is ready to make sacrifice to help the less endowed get to that le

I believe that cashless is the new trend in the world and also in the future of bitcoins as it's value is increasing day by day so in the future most probably we will see that the whole society will become cashless and then the real Value of bitcoins will show
It will took so long veforr it happens since only few mechants accepts btc now. If malls do accepts btc now then some businesses might follows it . But for now no big merchants accepted it as per on my country. But i believe soon it can be.

Not many merchants dont accept it Japan as whole country accept it, Australian legalized it, some talks that Philippines are doing same. Agree that merchants need to accept this some do but this is not something that can be done fast or over night. We will see by end of year who will be here on the list and what merchants will accept it to.

Cashless will come, I am completely sure about that.
In ten, maybe 20 years people who pay cash will be something like a dinosaur.
Look at Sweden: I have read a statistic that says in 2015 only 2% of the value of all payments made in Sweden were cash payments.
In 2020 it will be 0.5%.
Most parts of the world are not so far yet, but it will come.
Paying cashless brings a lot of advantages, at least to the economy. And that is where the money is made.

This technology will also help the environment as this was not using any minerals from our earth. Many trees will be saved by using digital assets because paper money uses many trees just to produce it.

It may be that someday the government will convert paper money into digital form .. to facilitate the transaction. But that will not affect the bitcoin .. bitcoin will remain axis and remain the most widely used digital coin. Maybe both will coexist .. digital money will act as a means of payment .. and bitcoin will be an investment ..

maybe we can see in next year because with bitcoin become famous right now, i think big merchants will thinking about accepting bitcoin as their payment. big merchants won't stay silent as they will see that bitcoin can be an option for them to make more money. if one big merchants is accepting bitcoin, then i am sure the other merchants will be accepting too because they don't want to missed the best opportunity.

I think cashless society that you are talking about is impossible. Cashless society will never be happen.
Bound to be. Can not even doubt. Governments want to control our every step. It is the dream of all governments regardless of country. To control a human via non-cash money is much simpler so as soon as the opportunity arises the government will make sure she will use it.
We are not ready to go virtual yet, I mean even me as a consumer would still prefer Fiat currency as a form of medium of exchange or a mode of payment. I can't imagine a world in which our form of liquid assets only exist virtually. And come to think of it how will other older generation be able to have a smooth transition with a cashless society? It will be a headache for both the elders and the government just to make them use a virtually existing money.
Lol! You have raised a good point. It would be tough for older people to live in a world where maximum things are abstract. But with little care and patience they can also be introduced to these latest forms of payment modes. I hope being patient with them will resolve all their queries related to digital currencies.
Even they are old, they can still pick up the things that we will teach to them because they still have brain to use and they can understand what we are saying so it is not that hard for them to adjust. Introducing them the latest payment systems like bitcoin is a good thing to do right now because we are now slowly changing and being adopted by the countries so if we will teach the old people then it will become easier to spread bitcoin.

This might happen in the near future. There is just a possibility but maybe just maybe it will happen. Nothing is impossible. The approval of the government is what we just need in order for this paperless transactions. Well we've just started it with debit cards. Where we can buy using cards. It is just convenient for us to use.

Yes. It may happen in the future, if people get used to cryptocurrencies within the present. If enough awareness and education becomes spreaded, I'm sure that a cashless society would not take too long before becoming a reality.

I believe that governments would have to start doing this task, with their own digitally issued fiat currencies, so that people could get used to the system and gradually adopt a cashless society. It is all a matter of convenience like you said, before this comes into effect in the future.

In the meantime, we could all enjoy using physical fiat alongside cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin to pave our way towards financial freedom. Just my opinion. Smiley

One major financial problems we have in all our society is criminality and greedy. Bitcoin and others crytocurrency can resolve this problem by using this great technology to reduce crime and criminality. Cashless society do reduce physical attach on attempt to get fiat from the owner.
Maybe if the financial problem will solve our society will less criminality. Bitcoin and other crytocurrency can solve this problem using our modern technology today and to prevent crime .Cashless society do reduce and decrease the fiat money and the demand of bitcoin will be increase.
You have shown another bright aspect of the bitcoins. Indeed they the strong tendency of reducing poverty in the world by creating new jobs for them and providing jobless, literate people opportunities of earning their livelihoods just by sitting at their homes.

This is ultimately going to reduce the crime rate in the world. Cashless society will come into existence soon.
