The max mem overclock I can get on 2x Vega56 is 930Mhz and 890Mhz @ 900mV.
They are giving me 1940 and 1860 H/s respectively.

Used powertables in registry and blockchain driver. Everything adjusted through OverdriveNTool without using WatMan.

Any hints on how to get more overclock?

Not using any monitoring script for now. Just trying to make it work reliably, basically.

Failing mobo is like the thing you don't want to happen because it's the one variable you tend to always rule out when you have issues. On my two rigs of RX570's I've got some GPUs chugging at 1950MHz mem speed, while other keep crashing at 1850 and lower -h values (in Claymore). I can't think there's anything wrong with the GPUs, so it's gotta be risers... or the damn mobo.

Let's see how the Vega rig behaves...

No issues so far with version 0.7 and it has been 4 hours.

@dragonmike I've been stable since yesterday and the only thing i changed was running Cast XMR v0.7 vs v0.8

Yay, 2x Vega FE now running at ~2x2050 H/s with total draw of 415W at wall - mobo is approx 85W varies so approx 170W each

GPU 99% to 100% as only running 1100MHz mem, VDDC = 0.9280v, fans a bit fast so possibly tweak a bit more

Clean driver install, windows fall edition plus patches

bounce drivers and toggle HBMC to fix initial slow hash rate

Unlike the vega 64 the FE seems to hold the hash rate over time ?

Using basic Cast settings







now if only we could get it to use full 16GB of HBM, only seems to use half mining!

What AMD driver are you guys using for mining?

What is the latest version? Do they plan to release a new version of blockchain driver in near future?

I still can't stay stable for long periords.

The fans and gpus sound like they are running but I check my pool and there is no hash. I turn on my monitor and their is no signal. ugh...just a frozen black screen.

What is the most concise and least confusing tutorial you have found on setting it up with Afterburner?

Now that you mention it, i think i never saw any vega guides using that's using afterburner
What' i've done is pretty simple :

1. Install Blockchain driver
2. Install Afterburner minimum Ver 4.4.0 with vega voltage support
3. Set your voltage/clock/power limit if necessary
4. Switch HBCC toggle ( I was doing it before devcon method was found, and since i'm able to automate it each restart, i dont bother to change)
5. Basic Cast_XMR config...and done

I'm currently at
913 mv
-10% Powlim
Core 1474 Mhz
Mem 970 Mhz
Fan 40%

with average 1991 H/s with 96% accept rate, HBM temp at 72 (without -fastjobswitch)
No 64 bios, no overdriventtol, im not sure about power consumption since i dont any extra power meter around



Really don't know why you/others prefer Afterburner over OverdriveNTool? With second one you can precisely set all frequencies and voltages (fan speed and temp target also).

Hi, the miner freezes without any errors after around 10 minutes of work. How can I understand the reason? Is there any log file to diagnose the problem?

check your GPU frequencies, that's a typical issue -the program should never hang under normal conditions- also check that Quick Edit is disabled in CMD, take a look at the previous pages, it is all explained there.

@commonorx, thanks for the tip. That was what I initially did but I had an issue with the mining pool and then it got me confused. It's working normally now, but I am not using Cast XMR on my desktop, which has a RX 570. I tried your bat with the Vegas, just slightly tweaked lol, and as expected they fly with Cast XMR.

@pyr8, those numbers are interesting, gotta check the power consumption off the wall soon and see my results.

Seriously, are you completely handicapped? Do you need people to tell you everything? Do you know how to use search? Do you know how to find page 1 of this whole thread? I hate this whole thread now because of people like you. This thread was about an awesome miner for cryptonight called CAST XMR, that now has been ruined with stupid questions and discussions about useless moronic band-aids for problems that are not even related to the mining tool. If I could mod this thread I would have moved half the discussions of the last 20 pages to the trash bin.

I like this guy.  Keep up the good work.

After a few hours of farting around with settings, I have some interesting finding as far as hashrate VS power consumption on a Vega 56 with 56 BIOS on "Block-chain" drivers.

NOW PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that this only matters to you if you actually have to pay for your power (some people get free electrons from mom and dad, or have flat rate electricity).

Also, these numbers are based on the price of XMR at the time of calculation. I also have a water cooler for my CPU, and for some reason when running HW64 to get HBM temps, my liquid cooler would max out the fan RPM of the cooler, witch I'm sure added Watts to my readout at the wall.

The important thing to note is the constants, ignore the finite details of the exact power usage (yours WILL vary depending on things like water coolers and other computer peripherals) and pay attention to watts vs return vs HBM temps!

My mission was to find a balance of noise to return ratio. I didn't want my GPU fan to be running above 2500 RPM due to noise in the house. I also wanted to be within a safe HBM temp range as to add longevity to the video card if possible (At $800+, they aint cheap!)

Lastly, what is NOT taken into consideration here is the fact that in order to keep HMB in a safe temp range, I would have had to incrementally raise the fan RPM in order to keep the HBM and GPU temps in check, thus further increasing wattage used.

It's not a perfect experiment, but interesting nonetheless.

Actually it's not insane, but you just have to do some more adjustments. Almost all people here are using Afterbuner so i'm not quite sure which frequencies of GPU are used with those settings, but with vega56 on 64 bios, and registry mod i have 1950 H/s @ 150-160W. GPU clock at 1407/925mV and mem at 1100/905mV.

Anyone using the Asus rx 580 - 4GB DUAL Cards? What sort of hashrates are you getting? Mine are 620 but I havent touched the BIOS or overlocked in MSI

how did you achieve that? It doesnt work for me... I had to use other programs to mine on my desktop computer.

You know what, I bet he simply put his sumkoin wallet in and then put in the correct server address and then you know what I bet he started the miner up.

Please use this exact setup for Vega cards.. ****DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING*****

Because I can't draw too much power, I have to maintain the rig under 850W to be cool.

I have 5 Vega (4 x 56 flashed + 1 64)

My current stable setting in OverdriveNTool :
1250 MHz core - 880 mV
1000 MHz mem - 880 mV
-24% power limit
3500 RPM FAN

1650 H/s @ 130W per card after PSU efficency (140W at the wall per card)

Someone get better sweet spot for 125-135W max ?
