The causes of bitcoin's price was drop is the activation of segwit2x will happen, many people are fear because of it. And many people makes prediction the activation of segwit2x on bitcoin's network will be fail.
So the people who are fear they sell the bitcoins, the other reasons why bitcoin's price drop because of speculation from the traders that looking for profit from fluctuation of bitcoin's price.

What I don't get is if you re afraid of Aug 1, why don't u people exit BTC and get into alts. Do you really think all crypto s cease to exist in 2 weeks?

I don't think it will. We ve had this before.

Really, so they dont believe in crypto? So why the fuck did they get into crypto at the first place?

I see a sharp drop on bitcoin and not only btc but also other alt coins including eth, xrp, ltc, xmr
What cause bitcoin drop now?
or should I say the sudden coin drop of all.
Can anyone share some news?

Should I buy now?
It's pretty low already or wait for a while.

thanks guys.

All current circumstances are very deteriorating. We know that all this is an impact from the 1st of August. Honestly maybe i want the existing bitcoin like now. Segwit just destroys the current bitcoin value. Nothing is good and many people suffer losses because of this action.

Its normal nothing really to worry about. If you are planning to buy this would be the perfect time, each time it drops buy little and little. The reason is very obvious people are confused and sacred of August 1st.they just don't know what's going to happen and they are running here and there and selling it in panic, that has led to more supply than demand and that's why the fall. Till august 1st the fall will continue, then Boom Boom rise.
I agree with your premise, Definitely the right time to buy bitcoins with prices so low, am sure it may go below the $2000 mark and thats going to be bad and even the Segwit has not been implemented yet, There is some serious trouble ahead in the bitcoins world now and its not going to stop anytime soon.

There was half a year of only price rises. What did you expect to happen?

A good healthy correction was much needed to get a new solid floor again. I would prefer eternal rises as well, but that is not how markets work. As long as the year long trends remain upwards, I have no problem with it. Its my retirement plan, not drive a lambo this year plan.

it wasn't really "all rise" if you look at the charts you can clearly see all the dips (short term corrections) happening all the way to the top. for example price went up $100 and dropped $30 and then went up and ....

also a good healthy correction was the first drop down from the ATH of nearly $3000 down to around $2100 and then stabilizing the price above $2450. that was the real correction. and the $2400 should have been the bottom of the correction.

what we are seeing now is the panic sell, it has nothing to do with the rise nor the correction of it. it is all fear of the split because of UASF! and all the rest of the FUD that is flying around.

The drop is because bitcoin is useless..

if bitcoin was really useless or if you really thought that you would never even sign up on a "bitcoin" forum and never have visited and posted on a "bitcoin" section of the "bitcoin" forum.

and so far you have spent more that a year on this "useless" thing.

The bitcoin drop and their altcoins its because of the anticipated Segwit, and the kind of fork that will come from it. I guess next week the price will drop even more, and it will continue till early August I guess, when all the dust from SegWit is over.

This is the closest explanation this is just for a short period until the segwit is finish and we'll see the outcome of that segwit, hopefully, everything will be ok, it could drop further to $1500 I hope it will stabilize and get it's former price or better a week after the segwit

The drop is because bitcoin is useless..

This is your opinion

But actually the drop was excepted. It's what some people were looking for June/July just before the August 1. Create the fear of people in the Bitcoin community, so currently people are selling their Bitcoin. Now that the price is going down, those same people who created the fear are now buying for a good price, knowing the price will boost during August/September and may get like a 30% profit

What I think is causing all this huge dump in bitcoin is the pre segwit anticipation. Since a hard fork is happening, there are heaps of conspiracies of how this is when bitcoin will die. Then people are add to the drop by selling and rebuying when it drops even more
A hard fork is not happening.  It will happen later when SegWitx2 forks to 2MB blocks.

For now, we have SegWitx2 and UASF happening.  SegWitx2 looks like it'll happen very soon, in which case it's all good.  UASF will have a chain split if it still has <50% hash rate on August 1st, but it's running on negligible hash rate and probably won't be relevant if SegWit gets activated before then.  Both SegWitx2 and UASF are soft forks.

Posts like that explain exactly why the price is dropping.  There's too many fancy terms for some newbies, weak hands and speculators to understand, so they do the easiest thing they do into lovely, relatively safe fiat.

As for alts, they just got pumped hard, so when BTC falls they fall with it.

Bitcoin prices will decline due to the many investors who fear will occur segwit in August. Most of them sell their bitcoin because they are afraid of losing a lot. I think you have to sell some of your bitcoin, not everything .. leave half. Because bitcoin will return to normal after August. Use this to buy bitcoin. So that later you earn a lot of profits when bitcoin prices back to normal

Then why all other possible altcoins are losing their ground too? Just take a quick glimpse here: https://coinmarketcap.com/
Besides some random occasional niche pump of 3 altcoins whole market seems to be crumbling.
This crazy decline can't be caused only by unclear situations of bitcoin scaling, BTC is simply not influential enough.
