What are the odds for the SEC to approve a spot ETF for Ethereum by May? Gary Gensler used to say ETH is a security back then, but things could change now that Bitcoin spot ETFs were recently approved by the regulating entity. Market prices for ETH have been going down lately after BTC's downfall to $41k. So I'm wondering, is now the time to buy more ETH or should I wait for another dip?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

Now is the time, I think, don't ever time the market, it's better to pay in installments rather than wait and wait and have regrets later. That's my principle in investing in cryptocurrency because no one can predict that.

I don't need to wait for the SEC decision to buy ethereum when the price is still far from its all-time high. I'm not afraid to hold or trade it, especially seeing that the price is cheap when it's down, like a big discount, when the decision is made it will have an impact, hopefully it can provide a surprise price increase

I'd imagine ETH market prices will rise the closer we get to May. Once the SEC makes a decision, ETH could all go down the drain in an instant. Just like what happened recently with Bitcoin spot ETFs. It would be unwise to buy ETH after it starts "pumping". The current bearish market makes it the perfect opportunity to buy coins at a discount.

Perhaps, ETH will go as far as $5k after the next bull market? The sky is the limit to how far ETH will go. Hopefully, it will fix centralization issues over time. With or without spot ETFs, ETH won't be going anywhere soon. Just my thoughts Grin

BlackRock filed their ethereum ETF soon after the Bitcoin ETF approval but as expected its delayed and as you expected we may have another chance by May by that time SEC may approve ETH too but we know what happened to Bitcoin after the ETF approval so I won't suggest investing in ethereum just because it is possible that ETF will be approved.

We knew  Vitalik's connection so if he will going to push this then there is no doubt it will happen but like what happened to bitcoin or will take longer? this will need tp go under so much straining and yeah Flowing of Ideas but eventually will be approved because there is no currency that may follow Bitcoin ETF first than Ethereum .
You said he had a strong or good connection? Then for sure it won't take a long time for his coin to get approved for spot ETF. We even think it will get approved first before Bitcoin. Imagine if that happened?
well we cannot be certain on that part , but there are big possibilities that it will help the increase of chances proving ETF.
and imagining this to happen will help those who have used of  Ethereum.

I think many Bitcoin enthusiasts are going to get angry and they think there is some fixing or bribery that happened inside. Other than that, they have waited for a long time. So, this act is kind of insult for them. While for us who are not biased, we think it's still a good thing because for sure, the overall crypto market can still benefit with it later on. If the said thing is possible for ETH, then it can also happen to other cryptos. There is no exact order here.
who cares about who will be angry ? but if this can be fix then its for us to find out in the future but for now lets just enjoy the system.

In fact, ETF has many rumors and becomes a double-edged sword. If they are not careful, they will accidentally break like Bitcoin ETF. The approval of ETH etf this time I think will be in the tunnel or in a more silent way, Although they have delayed the approval of the ETH etf similar to the previous bitcoin ETF, I feel that the movement of ETH at this time is very suitable for accumulation, after the retail trend ends, this is is the opportunity to accumulate ETH or some altcoin portfolio is needed to prepare for the next stage.

Imho it's always a good time to buy more, as timing the bottom is just going to be pure luck anyway. It might drop sure, but i might do anything as far as i know. But when it comes to ETH ETF, it totally see getting passed. In fact i see it would have better changes then bitcoin. As every time i talk to nocoiners, they seem to see eth as some sort of technological break trough, and i have heard them talking about it having more use cases then any other crypto, so it seem to have already won the public on it's side. Then there's the carbon emission PR. While bitcoiners need to justify power it uses, eth is politically admired on their stance or being energy efficient. That's just politically easy to market. And if XRP is not security, we can be pretty sure that eth won't be either.

About all the ETF applications, I think the rumors are important not the actual news especially if blackrock is involved. They will approve the ETH ETF eventually but if they don't, people will still speculate about the ETH price and this will push the price upward like it did for bitcoin. We can see some short-term correction, but in the long run ETH will outperform all the altcoin even bitcoin for some time. Right now, the price of ETH is near its support level and if it breaks down it won't last their for a very long time.

There is some noise in social media about the Ethereum ETF after approving the Bitcoin ETF. Almost everywhere people are thinking positively about Ethereum ETF and it can be approved easily.

About investing in ETH, I will say it's still in a good range for long-term investment. But if you still thinking about more dip it actually depends on BTC. If somehow BTC touches around 30k before then halving ETH maybe have a dip. But the chance is very low I assume.

The last hearing to approve the Ethereum spot ETF is in May. Since the Ethereum ETF is supposed to be approved in May, it is expected to be approved in May. If the Ethereum Spot ETF approves in May, Ethereum could stay between $3000 and $4000. Current price I think is a good value for investment. Many are also investing in Ethereum, in addition to Bitcoin investments. If someone doesn't like bitcoin investment then surely I will tell him to invest in ethereum. Like Bitcoin, Ethereum investment also has dependencies. If Bitcoin stays in the $100,000 range during the bull season, expect Ethereum to stay in the $10,000 range.

In May? bitcoin took how many years before getting approval and now Ethereum will take it just like that? for sure this will never happen that soon though it will have its time but not in this sooner .

Spot ETF approval will take time same as the other Altcoins that will seek for the same thing and also the price will not show what this can be or where this can lead , so lets give time and never rush as we have not taste the flavor given by Bitcoin ETF till now.

I believe the approval odds for an Ethereum ETF are just as promising as they were for BTC. With the recent approval of a Bitcoin ETF, my optimism is high for a potential approval of an Ethereum ETF and possibly other cryptocurrencies based on its blockchain. However, in the world of regulatory decisions, anything is possible. Figures like Gary Gensler add fuel to the fire by expressing support for considering Ethereum as a security. Nevertheless, I remain confident that sooner or later, the application will receive approval. It's just a matter of time.
even though as many have mentioned there is delay, but bitcoin ETF also have delay, when such ETF filled by some big company its bound to be accepted, not to mention the ones filled the ETF have histories of their ETF approved many times already. at this point where so many exchange has been having market capitalization that is big enough, i think it can't be contended anymore, might as well give the market for it so that people could just safely and freely invest their money.
after all bitcoin has proven to be growing and keep hitting its all time high over and over again.
if compared with stock to be honest, crypto is fast paced but that also become an advantage of its own, being quick paced means the money circulating will be faster.

This scenario marks a significant moment for the cryptocurrency market as it indicates greater institutional acceptance of bitcoin and potentially other cryptocurrencies. Approval of ETFs Ethereum is emerging as one of the main beneficiaries of this latest wave of optimism. The potential approval of spot Ethereum ETFs is significant for several reasons. First it will open up the cryptocurrency market to a wider range of investors making new investments. Also a spot Ethereum ETF will be valued directly from the real time price.

although approving ETF depends on who is filing it. everything is too uncertain for the SEC to approve until they are done trolling it. i don't see a lot of discussion about ETH spot ETF, most probably Coinbase is also custodial.

if they approve Bitcoin ETF then there is also a chance of ETH ETF, we shall see how many times they have to reject this one yet. but now we know they approve the ETF when the price is about to get dumped.
Maybe there is no lot of talks about this ETF because we have just done in Bitcoin so having this
in table is not that appropriate at least not for now so people are just holding their thoughts but not because
they are keeping silent meaning there is no interest from Ethereums part because I know this is the next one
to be pushing .
I think the same scenario as bitcoin will also happen with ETH. From now until the moment of decision making, things will definitely not go smoothly. But negative/positive information will come out to bring doubt/trust feelings in ETH, although I also speculate that it will also be approved.

Because the Bitcoin ETF has paved the way for other cryptocurrencies to have an opportunity, a bit of a similarity in history because the Gold ETF was approved first and then the Silver ETF, so let's be positive about the issue. Hey, even if they refuse in May, it can't prevent this from happening in the future.
and one thing for sure, this will take time to be published approving because we even wait for how
many years for bitcoin so what more for altcoins?

the recent news drop about the delay of greyscale's spot ethereum ETF being delayed same thing with bitcoin ETF it was being delayed quite few times. but as we see if bitcoin ETF is being approved at the end of the day after so many delay i think ethereum ETF will be the same it might eventually get approved by the SEC.
but we will see though it all entirely depends on the authority themselves.
also, even though ETF approval is great and all but remember like bitcoin the price might not be affected that much anyway, so im expecting the same thing with ETH ETF the news will be there but I think the market will not be significantly changing unlike when the rumour was still fire.

Of course. The spot Bitcoin ETFs opened the door for institutional investment companies into other cryptocurrencies. Even if the ETH spot ETF gets delayed or rejected again, that doesn't mean it will never happen. BlackRock even hinted the possibility of a spot ETF for XRP. While we wait for the SEC's decision, we should buy and accumulate more coins to prepare ourselves for the "big pump". By investing early, we'd have a high chance of profiting in the future.

It's likely ETH will soar all the way to $5k after the approval of spot ETFs. Hopefully, the cryptocurrency will be able to fix centralization issues in the long run. Cheesy

May? That's totally unlikely but good exposure to make an ATH for it and probably start the next altcoins season. I think Gary was just no comment these days when it comes asking if ETH is a security he probably know that he'll lose once again, XRP even isn't a security what more to ETH. I think DCA'ing on 2k level is a no-brainer.
