It all depends on your luck mate.Since recovering accounts one of the least priorities of the admins,you might have to wait a little longer and no one knows how long does that take.People have waited months to get it back.Unfortunately nothing much you can do,have patience! no i think there is no bane on changing password, it is totally legal because some time you fee that some one hack your password key so for safety you change your password key.
Instead of having a security feature without serving its original functionality, why not theymos may consider to remove it.
Removing security question feature may help to prevent this type of threads in future.

there was a bug in security question, to as well preventing hackers from getting information easily, that method is not allowed. if anyone still knows that announcement is pinned.
