Let he who is without sin cast the first stone
You can also transfer your coins to any other wallet you desire (off Changetip)

I think this is cool and all, but... It is not really needed. I can send a tip now to anyone displaying an address.

The benefit of changetip is that you can tip people who don't have an address and therefore bring in new converts.
I guess I did not understand. That is kinda neat. But who holds the coins?

That's my problem with changetip as they hold the coins for 7 days and than return them if the tip is unclaimed . Additionally , they will soon be charging a 1% fee for withdrawing BTC thus encouraging large amount of users to store a small amount of coins with them for tipping.

It would be great if someone would create a off the chain tip bot that was decentralized and free to address these concerns.

They do deserve to be rewarded for their efforts though in the interim.

Well, I get the odd 100 Bits here and there, but never something, worth it's while in Bitcoin terms. ^Frown^

I think there are a lot of shill accounts, tipping themselves, to look like, they tipping others.

Since they started this, I have only received 1 Beer = +/- $1 US.

Nah, nothing to get too excited about. If you cannot tip someone, something, they can really appreciate, rather leave it, because it will do more harm than good.

My friends, laugh at me, when I tell them, what the value of 100 bits are.

They laugh at it being 3-4 cents. But, they really add up.  I had people laughing that I was "only" getting 3-6 cents for something online.  Then they learned there'd be 20-30,000/day.  They stopped laughing.

Think about a YouTube video, if it goes viral and you get 1,000,000 views, and get tips on that, it will really add up.  Sure each one is small, but that is the point, no one will pay a dollar or euro to watch a video, but they might tip a nickel.

What about putting changetip links on our own web site that are for someone else?  e.g. Suppose you wanted to ask for donations for @MakeAWish (via twitter).

Precompose a tweet, then you can tell visitors, "Instead of buying me a present for the holidays this year, just make a donation to by clicking on this link."  You could always offer to match some of the donations to encourage people to sign up!

That way, if you want to encourage use but don't want to ask for ask for yourself, you still can.  Something like:

Donate to Make A Wish via Twitter, ChangeTip and Bitcoin

Which is just this link:
http://twitter.com/home?status=Hey%20%40MakeAWish%2C%20here%20is%20%241%20for%20your%20good%20work%20%40ChangeTip%20Thanks

with a URL anchor attached.

This is a great idea too.

I need someone to send me a 25 cent tip to the address in my signature.   Undecided

I want to legitimize my use of "martinlawrence" before the famous actor comes and tries to take it away from me.

Thanks to anyone that can help.  Smiley

I can't believe I didn't think of that, lol. (Putting the tip me link there) The link works perfectly in the sig spot. Smiley

I dropped a tip bomb on Oppa Gangnam Style yesterday if you wanna upvote that - 2 billion views Cheesy

wow , too many comments , cannot find yours... Probably, best to drop the tips on a new viral where it can get a combo of crown sourced and organic up votes from the beginning when it is growing to 1 million .

I had an idea I wanted to run by everyone.

Rather than simply tip pro Bitcoin and low view videos on youtube we target some of the viral ones in a campaign. The idea behind it is 2 fold, get the video channel user to start using and accepting Bitcoin and get many people to see these change tips from bitcoin right below the video so all the viewers get exposed to this service and Bitcoin.

For the most part I see tipping on low viewing videos instead of viral ones. What If we tipped and up voted the tip comment on all  popular videos daily.

I would be willing to donate 1 BTC to this campaign of tipping thousands of videos 1-4 dollars(a certain percent of tips are returned in 1 week). Would you guys want to help participate by writing up funny comments to encourage upvotes (loses most of the value if comment gets drowned out with no upvotes) and by upvoting yourself if I posted a daily listed of tipped videos?

What do you think about this plan, any suggestions?

I like the idea of tipping people on youtube to get the word out. If you put a tip in a comment in a video on youtube and posted links here (in their own thread), I'd upvote comments daily. I'm sure people would, but I don't know how many upvotes it would take to get the public to notice; I'm up for trying to get to get them to notice though. Smiley

Changetip looks great. Buy someone a "beer". Guess what, now 10 million people have sent beers to people. You think more bars and restaurants are going to start accepting bitcoin? This will have a huge effect.

I could see people getting multiple drinks sent to them on their birthday. That is a significant amount.

I tried getting a few of my bars to accept bitcoin through coinbase. I just get blank stares. Might be a good idea to print them out a QR or order them a sticker and put it on their tip jars. That way they could see if people actually use bitcoin and if its worth accepting for sales. Plus it gets them comfortable. I propose that we get as many qr codes on tip jars at bars as we can. Gets our foot in the door.

As I had said in the other thread if every user on the forums were to spend 10 US dollars each tiping we could make bitcoin go viral.  I can't think of more positive PR then a grassroots tipping campaign.
This would result in too many scams. People would create accounts for the sole reason of hoping to get tipped by other users.

So, People can and will scam but does that mean that we should not give charity ?  If we could fund 100 worthwhile artists at the cost of paying a couple of scammers then its still a worthy system.

/tip $.0001

I wish this would work with this forum, it would be useful but a lot of spam messages saying "tip has been sent and claimed by userxxx" would be seen.

Is there an extension that does it all offline but still responds to posts such as: /tip $.0001?

Dam, I am gullible.  Thought for sure this was new. Face palming.
