Hey bperls,

Have you been trading for 10 years professionally or personally? Where did you learn to be a trader?

If I could go back in time and pick a different route of education, I think I would have gotten into it!

Cheers.

Hey Hardman,

Ive been trading professionally.  My father has been a trader for 50 years in Wheat at the CBOT, so he taught me everything he knew.  The fact that my generation grew up with computers together with his knowledge has let me fair through the crazy computer-run futures markets of today.

It's the best high I've ever experienced - trading, nothing compares.  I encourage you to do a little research.  While the vast majority of traders end up losing, there are people that make crazy good livings trading as a profession.  Find one niche and exploit it until you find another.  Good stuff.

Cheers,
bperls

Thanks for the reply and for sharing your background. Great to hear that you have been able to trade professionally through passed down teachings and experience, as opposed to formal education.

Enjoy the forums.

I think that you are looking for Sierra Chart or Trading View.

http://www.sierrachart.com
http://www.tradingview.com

I notice that several TA fans in the speculation subforum use these.  This discussion in particular has charts from Sierra Chart, Trading View and Bitcoin Charts in it:

If you are able to program in python, this might help you:

http://prof7bit.github.io/goxtool/

it's already a CLI that displays real time charts, I would assume you can parse this data.
Unforunately it's on for mtgox

All you really need to know is that the charts will keep going up. There may be downdips here and there but as bitcoin catches on, their value will increase exponentially. This is just fact. By 2015, a single bitcoin will likely be worth 10,000 US dollars.

Hey all,

I am new to BTC.  I've been a trader for 10 years on the computer trading futures markets.  As it's basically a 50/50 chance to trade without charts for these markets and customizable analysis techniques, I tend to rely on the charts for signals.  I was wondering if there is any available platform that can display BTC charts with the option to plot different indicators or signals on the chart?

From a trader's perspective without the indicators on a chart the mean value of BTC seems to be $115-$125 per.  But I'd be much more likely to invest a  lot of money into it if I had the capability to plot Moving averages or what have you on a chart.

I'm still a 'newbie' in the forum so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all,
Bperls
