Christmas can affect Bitcoin. Because everyone needs money to prepare something for Christmas, and they think of Bitcoin. They may view it as a gift for Christmas. Besides, some trips or someone who has neglected Bitcoin also made the price drop

I was just wondering, to those experts on bitcoin, because I have seen that bitcoin suddenly lay low in going up, and now even plunges.  I needed your opinion.

Does Christmas or any holidays affects bitcoin?
Please elaborate. Thanks a lot
I don't know for sure. But it seems that day will affects bitcoin. Why? because it will be many people will convert it to fiat as we know holiday will make people spend more money. In other hand people who have bitcoin will change to money and then spend it, many merchants not accept bitcoin. Or maybe investor will give their employees bonus for holiday so they have to convert bitcoin to fiat. So it can be said direct or indirectly it will affects bitcoin. CMIIW Smiley

No. Season has nothing to do with btc but if a lot of people know btc maybe it has some effects. But I'm sure it's the news and not the season.

Does Christmas or any holidays affects bitcoin?
Base on what's happening now, well it's a clear yes. People are taking out their bitcoins and converting it to fiat in preparation for the Christmas day and as well as the New Years Eve. I have seen there are many incidents that are affecting the price of bitcoin. News is also one factor that affects bitcoin price so holidays are also affecting bitcoin itself.

I am really not thay expert to Bitcoins but I agree to what everyone said. People usually spend money for Christmas and New Year. It is the time of the year where everyone, or almost everyone, is very generous on giving gifts to family and friends, donating to charity, going out and spending time with family. And with that, they also need cash. And I think that drove down the Bitcoin price. People cashing out their Bitcoins so they have extra money to spend on. And with that, I predict that Bitcoin will go back up on the first quarter of 2018

As you can see, the current Christmas has a powerful influence on how does Bitcoin? The rate of the Bitcoin is from 16000 dollars dropped to 13000 dollars in just 2 days, cause strong impact to investors around the world. But this rate of reduction waves Bitcoin only do temporarily, after Christmas I believe the rate will rise again Bitcoin strongly in the new year 2018.  Wink

Christmas has a lot of effect on BTC, its a season of gifting, shopping, partying e.t.c. people need money to take of some of these items, they would want to send money to their aged people so many want to sell bitcoin to meet this needs, this could lead to stability or drop in the growth of BTC till January. But this is the best time to buy because it might skyrocket in January 2018

These continuous price drops might just be a coincidence because from my pov, any experienced investor/trader would have control over his emotions and thus will not spend just because it is Christmas.

yeah because some old members said that bitcoin doesnt really decrease or dump last december. i also think that it is just a mere coincedent. however i also agree with some comments here because few people will probably cash out and sell their bitcoins to buy gifts or prepare for this holiday season and that could also lead for bitcoin to drop. i think its already happening now and we are now experiencing it. overall no matter what will happen, i strongly believe that bitcoin could still recover after this event has passed.

I am not an expert on bitcoin and cryptocurrency world, I even still consider myself as a newbie. Let us approach this into something simpler and general.
Well, for starters, I guess in all event, holidays or big days, the supply and demand of a crucial things are increasing. Money, foods and drinks, presents (jewelry, toys, etc), transport system, hotel and inn, etc all are crucial things in my opinion in holidays or big days season. Bitcoin is a kind of a money. Because there is not so many vendors that accept bitcoin for daily things purchase, people sells their bitcoin into fiat currency to use their money (and price increased so high too in this near Christmas time, so maybe some people who don't celebrate Christmas just want to sell bitcoin to make some profit, so the amount of people making transaction is doubled or triplet, not to mention on how many people have bitcoin in this world and per person can make a multiple transaction) this will make a condition like now, such as :
1. A ton of transaction.
2. Higher fees transaction.
3. Price going down
4. People panic
5. Bitcoin haters appearing out of nowhere, claiming bitcoin dead, this coin better, that coin is better.
6. Some people take the FUD and do panic sells
7. The FUD-er (imo) happy people sells bitcoin, bitcoin price will go down more, and FUD-er will be buying bitcoin at low price
8. After several days, the price will be normal again, the FUD-er will sells some to gain profit.
9. Repeat to number 1 when some holidays/big days/events occur.
This is my conclusion, because I have seen this several times already. People will only focus on making profit, they don't care about others. I don't want to be like that people.

Bitcoin is important to me, it's great if I receive a gift from bitcoin or I have a large profit from bitcoin for Christmas. If that happens I think that Christmas will be a day I will never forget.

As i can see it affects so much the christmas holiday to the price of bitcoin, value is going down hard and its happening right now. Some people are selling their bitcoin for fiat to prepare for the upcoming christmas and new year holiday season. I'm going to expect another big increase by next year 2018.

Hi there DRAWDE_3691! I cannot claim my self an expert in bitcoin but I think there is a market slowdown during Christmas and even on New Years eve. People behind the trading platform, the traders themselves even thought they use bots or automated trading system, they are still human being than embrace emotion. Holidays, bring peace and joy to everyone, it gives a room for a work break and focus on the family. At the end, people wants to have huge amount of money to spent it for the betterment of their life and family.  Wink

I think Christmas season got some effect now on bitcoin price because it is going down now. Bitcoiners need cash for Christmas to buy gifts, if only there are many merchants accepting bitcoins and have low fees and fast transactions there is no need to convert to local fiat just buy using bitcoins online.

The day traders will exit the markets for the holidays. The independent traders will continue to do what they do.
A lot of coins have exited the market because people are purchasing coins for gifts and they are also gifting each other with Bitcoins.

Sure a lot people need money for this special days but small amount of bitcoin will be enough to cover their needs. I guess the price won't down too deep because of these events.

The bitcoin price is currently under 15.000$, but I'm too long here to get nervous and think of selling them. Just hold and everything will be fine!
