There is no need to update the miner. You need to update your wallet to the latest version before block 4,370,000 or it will be stuck on the old chain and unable to broadcast transactions after the fork. Pools should have already updated, so as miner on a pool there is nothing else you need to do.

Need help. Only thing I used geth for was to create a wallet and I only had to do that on my first rig. With the hard fork what exactly do I need to do? Just update geth on my first rig? Or I have to download geth on every rig now. I use claymore and a pool for mining. Your help is appreciated

The mining reward per block will drop to 3 ETH from 5 ETH after the fork. However that is to to keep inflation roughly the same as it was at the beginning of September because the fork removes the ICE AGE difficulty adjustment, returning to the difficulty predicated on the total network hash rate, delaying the difficulty bomb for approximately 12 months until they are ready to implement the switch to POS.

The block times will also go back to 15 seconds from the 30 seconds they are now. Because of the block time and difficulty reduction, profitability should increase from where it is now by ~25% after the fork, depending on the network hash rate.

Hey Vann,
Thanks for your reply. I just read that Ethermine is ready for Byzantium so those of us using Claymore and mining on Ehtermine should be all set.

Yes I checked my wallet as well and it does support the Fork already.

Thanks again,

Hello everyone,
So for those of us mining Ether with Claymore miner version 10.0, do we need to do anything to be compatible with Byzantium Hardfork? Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Hoobski
