anyone know when ethereum is going POS? I saw many dates but with all the problems they have i'm not sure if they keep with the idea of doing it.

No it doesn't. There is no way that a 7950 gives you that higher hash rate than a 280x AND a 7970..

Yes its possible with that crazy high engine core clock rate.

I seriously doubt it. Clock rate isn't going to magically disregard the narrow memory bandwidth, and make it run 100 h/s over a 7970.

Hi,

I have a problem if I try to connect more than 6 GPUs to my AsRock H81 Pro BTC v2.0 mobo. I bought an extender riser (PCI-E x1 -> 3*PCI-E x1) and I use normal USB3 PCI-E x1->x16 risers. Everything's  fine until I connect the 7th card. I can connect the first 6 card any way I want it but after the 7th card connected I got blank screen when I turn on the rig.

How do I make it work with 7 or 8 cards?

No it doesn't. There is no way that a 7950 gives you that higher hash rate than a 280x AND a 7970..

Because that is about all you get by what you have done.  Did you make a special bios for each card?  Or are you using a mod'd bios that is stable and works on all your cards?  If so, can you share it?  I have played with the 24 Sapphire rx 480 8g cards I have for days, and they seem to be very touchy with any change to voltages.  I have done what you did using WattTool and got the same results.  If you want to increase your hash rate without raising your power consumption by much, increase your mem clock speed from 2000 Mhz t0 2200 Mhz (some will run there, some will need to be backed down a bit, every card is different) and you should get up to around 275 H/s per card. 

Now a question for those that know how to use WattTool and are experts at undervolting.  I have lowered the last two straps on the GPU mem to match the 5th strap and I was able to lower the power consumption for a 6 card rig by 130W down to about 1100W and sustain a total production rate of 1650 H/s by raising the mem clock speed to 2150 Mhz.  What other tricks are there to lower power consumption and still remain stable?  I don't really know what the other tricks are to getting my power down using this tool.  I can lower the mem voltage by 50 mV on most of my cards but I don't see much reduction in power consumption, however I do so an increase in errors and cards dropping off in the "Open CL" hang up.  Any help would be appreciated.

Does mclock work on linux ?

use atitweak utility on linux.

I do not think it's good for miner to set clocks. its not its job. miner needs to mine best and gpu setting utility needs to set clocks and fans best. its unix.


I manage to set the mclock on linux to 2125 and I gained 200 on my rigs
Before I was mining at 1600 with 6 RX480 and now I am mining a steady 1800 and I have 3 rigs, thats 600 more, its none neglectable !

Anyone using a RX460 with modified bios to unlock the extra shaders? Curious to see how it does with ZEC. I have a friend that has some R7 370's running around 130H/s so want to see how the Polaris rival competes.

I have an r7 370 that is not recognized anymore. The fans are spinning but Windows/Linux cannot see it

Since it has never happened to me before am i looking at a burnt card?

i try 1050/1450  and result is 330h/s  in some cards but do nothing in r9 290x gigabyte windforce   - max is still  277h/s

also i have some 280x - 285x  - 380x nitro cards i want to know also the best setting for it

i use win7,,8, and 10 in  different rigs with 16.9.2 - 16.8.2 drivers  v11.1 claymore

could be a difference in memory. I think the 330 card is a Hynix card and the others might be Elpida.
To get more out of them you can do Stilt timing / memory strap mods to the cards. You will have to do a setting in the motherboard BIOS to get the cards working since the vga bios is edited. But it works fine.

There is no ideal clockspeeds for max hash. as long as your memory timings are low. Higher clocks are better. If you go to high memory will give errors ECC will correct it but you will be slower then. Higher clock = more power usage if you pay for power you might lose money istead of making money. Thats why most people undervolt cards and somtimes underclock them a bit for better efficiency.

For 280X also timing mods! -asm 1 helps a lot but without timings are key. with stilt timings you can get 235-240 with hynix memory. And with ASM you get 270 (that was with 1000-1375) if you go for higher clocks 300 is possible.

Every card is different. One will do 1100-1450 a second 280x will doe 1150-1500. another one will do 1200-1425. So if you want the max performance you have to tweak every card individually and find its limit.

Are you overclocking ?

No, using stock cards.

Anyone else have a 'GPU #0 returned incorrect data!' error? Happens on GPU #0, 1 of my 4 Saphhire R9 280xs, after about 6 hours of mining. It's always the same GPU returning the error, while the others are fine.


Had such happiness with one card. In my case, solution was a significant drop in temperature. Probably some radio elements lost characteristics with age and at high temperature becomes unstable.

What temps did you have before/after? My GPUs are hashing at around 68-74 C.

What voltage do you have to overvolt to get it stable at 1190 Mhz core?

Stock voltage, 1.195V. For 5 years, since Litecoin, no problems. Gigabyte Windforce.

Interesting, what's "solutions buf overflow" mean ? If the author made logging, and it turned on by default, would be great to understand the data.

Vapor series were meant like "super overclocked" cards so they came with really high stock voltage, you need to undervolt the card to get reasonable temperatures.

Hello. Who has the video card Sapphire Vapor R 280 x. What should be the temperature of the core and memory at Mining on Claymore. On my memory card temperature rises to 90 degrees. Without overclocking. It is not right? What to do? On the other coins storage temperature of 70 degrees. Thank you.

what percentage is your fans running at?

my 280 non x version is running at 75 degrees with 39% fan with out overclock giving me 236h/s

you can always use the -tt command line function to set a target temperature for your card. once it hits that the fans will increase to try to keep it at that level
