What are your plans for bitcoin pizza day this year?

Exciting that it falls on a Saturday!

We are now up to two restaurants that accept bitcoin lightning network south of Cleveland.

I plan to get take out from SWAT Food Truck for dinner in Northfield, Ohio!

https://www.swatfoodtruck.com/

They use the kitchen at the VFW Post 6768.

8584 Olde 8 Rd Northfield, Ohio

If you're interested in ordering and paying using the bitcoin lightning network, call in your order and they can text you your lightning invoice. (The website is only setup for credit card payments... for now Wink)

I tested this out for them a couple weeks ago and was able to pay before hanging up. Let me know if you have any questions on how this works.

Happy early bitcoin pizza day!

It's time for Bitcoin Pizza Day!

I'll be celebrating once again by getting delicious food at Scratch Restaurant!

As you may know, Scratch is one of the only restaurants accepting bitcoin at this time in the greater Cleveland area!

https://www.facebook.com/events/738225006982317

Most importantly, Nick will accept lightning payments. I plan to use BlueWallet.

Let me know if you prefer a different app for paying with the lightning network.

In this video, #MontyBitcoin makes the first food to go order over the phone using the #Bitcoin Lightning Network using BlueWallet. Bitcoin Pizza Day 2020 was the day (May 22, 2020). What better way to celebrate the 10  year anniversary of Laszlo's purchase than to use the lightning network for my lunch order! Naturally, I ordered take out from Scratch Restaurant, the only lunch restaurant that accepts bitcoin in Cleveland, Ohio!

I used BlueWallet for the lightning network which allowed this transaction to be confirmed instantly, and have reasonable transaction fee!

Perhaps you want to check out an order at Scratch Restaurant: https://scratchrestaurant.com/

Not sure about using one in the casino, fee's and exchange rate will probably be insane.

Last time I was in Vegas, they wanted $5 just for a regular ATM and that was around 10 years ago!

I plan to check it out August 3rd; I'll report back on the fees. [EDIT: was not operational by the time I got there...]

Went for another go in Lakewood, OH and that ATM was removed as well.

Coffee Proper is still accepting  though and we got two cafe mochas before heading to "Meet the Trucks" with our one year old which was fun.

Then for Father's Day, we went to Tavern Co to find out no Bitcoin acceptance.  I think they only did it one day as a Bitcoin Boulevard promotion.

So at least you can get coffee in Cleveland.

We'll see if another ATM makes an appearance someday or if anything else starts accepting.

Perhaps by next year, we'll have a pizza shop in Cleveland setup to accept bitcoin.

As of now, this summarizes my recent weekend (May 24th) experience:

I went searching for the Bitcoin ATM in Lyndhurst on Sunday... It's gone...  Perhaps the first in Lakewood electronics/computer store still exists... an adventure for another day...

Also, went for brunch at Tavern Co (who accepts Bitcoin payments on Bitcoin boulevard), and they were closed... Hopefully just for the holiday weekend...  will try again for fathers day.

Then I went to buy a copy of Bitcoin magazine at Microcenter... And they don't sell it anymore... Likely since they switched magazine vendors late last year...

Struck out (0/3)... Poor bitcoins in Cleveland...  I've clearly gotta reprioritize!

Perhaps this summer, I can reenergize the Cleveland Bitcoin movement and have a meetup.

Cleveland Bitcoin meetup group has changed ownership again.  Hopefully, we'll get some action there soon.

In other news, the Starbucks Fold App is awesome and actually kept my wife's attention for us to try that out successfully in Cleveland on Saturday May 23rd, so all is not lost!

Things have been going well in Cleveland.

We had a great meetup last Wednesday which combined with a local monetary literacy group.

I'm guessing it won't be the last time these two meetups overlap.

Next meetup is this Thursday at The Tavern over at Bitcoin Boulevard.

I won't be there, but there should be plenty of people getting food for bitcoin!

See you next month!

Haven't seen this before. If only I knew about meetings I would come. That would be nice to hear what you've already discussed on the previous meetings? Smiley

Join our next discussion:

http://www.meetup.com/Cleveland-Bitcoin/events/166742062/

When new faces show up, we typically answer the new questions they bring.

However, as we get returning members, we will break off into separate discussions for more targeted topics.

Feel free to add to the list, but right now I'm thinking:

1) Mining
2) Projects/jobs
3) using/spending bitcoin
4) Investments / making money off of bitcoin

These topics would help us break into smaller groups, but when only 10-15 people show up we typically can talk in a big group discussion.
