It seems to me that BTC Guild does not require any confirmations before found blocks are paid out.  Is this correct?  If so, is that because BTC Guild pays for orphan blocks, so there is no need to wait for confirmations?!?  Just curious.
Yes, BTC Guild pays for orphan blocks.

Rankings tab doesn't matter because unless your in the top 25, no one will ever see it even if it was a custom title that read I just found dis shit.

I meant as an expansion to the current rank tab... as in listing a lookup for all users or at least show your user's rank with the above-mentioned features.

On that note, how long do you believe BTCGuild is guaranteed to be around for ? Another 6yrs at least ?

Hard to say.  It would have to become unprofitable to keep going unless there was another reason for closure (such as legal reasons).  That's barring something unseen, like a legitimate offer to purchase the pool (no offer has ever been made that came remotely close), in which case I wouldn't have control over how long it stays around.
So basially 2016 when it halves to 12.5 lol.

Well for me, I dont mind not knowing which block I found, just would be cool to have an email that gets sent to me each time I find a block (counter goes +1). This way I can happy happy joy joy dance when I know I got extra coins comin heh

I think you are confused about how POOLED mining works. you do not get anything extra when your workers find a block.
Correc me eif I'm wrong, bu the person who finds the block gets transaction fees which AFAIK is everything after the 25., so joee blow finds a block with value of 25.05308509

So he gets his fair pool share then the .05308509.

The block transaction fees are split among the entire pool, not just the block solver.  Otherwise claiming your pool pays out transaction fees is somewhat shady, since smaller users will be unlikely to ever see their reward get a boost due to transaction fees being paid out, while paying them out to the whole pool means everybody sees the increase in earnings with every block solve.

One could argue that in the long run, both methods pay out the same, since eventually when a small miner hits a block solve they get a HUGE reward boost, which averaged over the course of their mining ends up being a good % increase.  However, in this scenario, "the long run" is measured in millennia for small miners, far longer than you can reasonably expect BTC Guild (or even BTC) to stick around.

As for the block solver, thats cool that it's split between everyone, but I still think the solver should get a tad extra for actually finding it, or say no pool fees for the next 24hrs ater finding a block.

Or maybe a smiley faced icon next to their name in a list on the Ranks tab... or better yet, one of Eleuthria's unused game characters next to the block solvers name on the list of all block solvers and if you find more, you're character can level up?  A fun bonus like this would be great if an actual BTC reward for block found wasn't possible due to the way the pool calculates stuff.

Ok then... you're wrong Wink

This particular pool does not have any block bonuses, transaction fee or otherwise.  Block rewards including transaction fees are paid out to the pool and you get the same cut as everyone else.

Other pools have block found rewards of various types.

I'm pretty sure that the ".05308509" in your example gets distributed along with the 25 to all miners who contributed to the round/shift.

Hey Eleuthria,
I know this is probably a slightly stupid request but... would you consider implementing a feature that emails a user is they found a block ?

This is something that may be implemented, but will require backend updates.  BTC Guild does not track which blocks a user has solved, it merely increases a counter when a block solving share is discovered.  ScryptGuild is going to have a lot of changes to the backend in the coming weeks, one of which is including which block was solved instead of just bumping up a counter.

Speaking of ScryptGuild:  The Alpha has launched.  Users can register, but the exact URL is only given out in IRC in order to make sure the people using it are able to report anything that doesn't look right/doesn't work right to me in chat immediately.  You can join #scryptguild in IRC to get information on how to register and start mining.

There's 200-odd houses in the estate, which means there's 30+ wifi networks visible most days.  I've got the 2.4GHz turned off on my router most of the time.  Everything I have, thankfully, has 5GHz (or has been upgraded to do so).  Only thing hasn't is the Kindle, so I just turn the 2.4GHz on briefly for that.

As for 802.11ac - I had a TPLink Archer C7 for a few weeks, it wasn't at all stable.  It worked pretty poorly with 5GHz 802.11n clients (kept hanging up the Mac and randomly stopped routing totally).  802.11ac was Ok, but only thing I had with ac was a USB dongle from Edimax, which was a bit crap too.

Returned the Archer and got an Asus RT-N66U which is perfect, good solid signal on 5GHz right through the house, and no more hanging on the Mac.  I really don't think 802.11ac routers are stable quite yet, where N900 802.11n routers really are the peak of the technology.

So...ummmm...not to be indelicate, but who does eleuthria have to blow for us to find a few blocks?

Wink

Sorry, I borrowed some of our USB Rabbits Feet and blessed ethernet cables for ScryptGuild Sad.  I'm ordering unicorn horn dust to sprinkle on the BTC servers in order to bring us a thousand years of good luck.
