Shiny!  Can probably push out a little bit more with a better hub - on the other hand, you'd need active cooling? Smiley

By just experimenting with various heatsinks I got this (still using the somewhat crappy USB hub that provides 4.5V) :

This is with Gen2 chips. Gen1 seem to max at around 10-11GH (with the same setup).

Someone was selling nanofury complete DIY - ( Board - components - stencil ).. now I cant find the damn post I thought it was Op ?
You might be thinking of this:

Note that this does not include the BitFury chip.

that's it thanks!!

Looking to try one just for a hobby project and to get my son into electronics

Very simplified, and based only on my understanding of others' posts - in a string design the BitFury chips are effectively put in series where it concerns power and I/O, meaning you don't have to drop the supplied voltage as much, and require less control circuitry, than if you tried to put them in parallel.
See also this hackery: "How to chain NF2s together and access them by one USB interface?"
Aight, thanks.

Also, keep in mind that the NF6 should be using Rev2 BitFury chips, whereas the NF2 (and most other small BitFury miners) used the Rev1.  Rev2 is both faster and requires less power, if I recall that correctly.  If the NF2 further does not use the 'string' design, while the NF6 does, that's some further relative savings.
What is the string design?

Other thoughts:
Although 6 chips is really cool, I don't think it will be very succesfull.
Why? Because the target group of usb miners are the starters/noobs.
Startes don't like to spend a lot to get a hang of mining, then 6 chips are too expensive.

NF1 just hits the spot for noobs because it is cheap, an other option would be to target the pro's.
The habanero project already did this I think, but there is always room for improvement.
I would stick to the NF1 and improve upon the design if possible. Or go big and ditch the usb designs.
Too the moon!

While I think this looks very interesting, there is one thing I can't reconcile. I've see the two-chip
NanoFury units, and as I recall, the expected power draw is about 1 Amp. This design has 3x the
number of ASIC's and only a 20% increase in power draw? How can that be?

Chips are underclocked to achieve the 11 gh/s.  They have to be because there is not enough juice in a USB to overclock more than 2 bitfury chips.
That's why you need 6 of them to get to 11 Gh/s.  When 2 overclocked can do 5 Gh/s.

The group buy is still open. It should be closing tomorrow but may possibly be extended by a few days.

Prices have been reduced. And order over 50 units is now close to the actual production price in the true spirit of a group buy. The end date and everything else remains the same.

Honestly, right now even the big machines are looking like they'll be a big gamble.  Sad
Yeah, which just make the StickMiners more attractive, to me - at least you know it won't ROI and you don't have to sit there eyeing rates and charts every day Smiley

Though it's true what philipma1957 said - had the NF6 been available back in February, it actually should have yielded a net profit - ah, memories of Block Erupters and people building rigs with dozens of them Smiley

I took a beating on all my fury sticks.  the antminer u1 crushed them with price.

even though the fury sticks are better for the most part they are 2x the price of the ant sticks.   even these are far too costly due to the delivery time.

But i wish I had some.  right now I kind of stopped selling any sticks to anyone..

I have about 12 fury sticks and fury II sticks.  2 ant u-2s an 1 red fury.  I 'll dump them on ebay next week.

shame of these sticks were they always came too slow to even be able to sell on ebay.

You don't buy these for financial ROI, people. Anybody thinking they would ROI must be thinking of selling them on, themselves.

But as StickMiners go, the NF6 is looking to be pretty sweet - and the price point set in this group buy is pretty good, too.  At $114.73/single 11Ghash/s unit, that's about $10.43/Ghash.  That makes it cheaper than the AntMiner U1 at $11.22/Ghash and only mildly more expensive than the AntMiner U2; and you'd need 5-6 of those to get the same hash rate.  The NF6 makes a nice tidy package for anybody wanting to mine for fun, play with the electronics, etc.

If you want ROI, you really need to be looking at the big machines, along with the upfront investment as well as power, housing and cooling needs, etc.

Honestly, right now even the big machines are looking like they'll be a big gamble.  Sad  People are hip to the game; new stuff is used in datacenters to mine, not sold off, and little guys like me have no real way to get in without a contract with a direct connection to a chip manufacturer.  I'm planning out a big solar array that may make it profitable to mine, but even with free electricity a lot of the new stuff coming out won't make back their initial cost before their mining profits approach 0.

Dimensions are 40mm*65mm. With heat sinks attached they should be around 11mm thick, but definitely no more than 13mm.

nice gear but it needed to be ready for sale in Feb not May.

All the fury sticks were nice and all of them came out too slow..

A shame as I like every one of them.

Im waiting to hear back from bitgr regarding the exact sizes as he has all the design files. I know these are pretty close in size to the NF2 which measure about (11cm x 4cm x 1.2cm). These are going to be individually packaged in plastic cases similar to the Antminer USB sticks, so the packaged dimensions will be a bit larger than the product dimensions.

How big are these things approx? 1.5x an antminer U2?

Price looks nice for something new, price will probably drop fast after it has been out for a few weeks.
same, size?
