i just sent 98,000 node to bter and got a tx id 2121531255860664378     but the coins have not left my wallet but show as an outgoing transaction the coins are also not showing on bter. what gives?

We look forward to when bter update to the new version as soon as bter update you will see your coins
Also you can send during the update, restart your client or see here: http://nodemoney.com:19775/, your coins can be on account of

but the coins have not left my wallet but i have the transaction id. does that mean when bter update my coins will automatically send?

Node creates a transaction on your computer, if the network is synchronized to the transaction sending to the network and collects confirmation

In your case, your transaction during the update did not send to the network
You will have to create a new transaction, but you must restart the client is synchronized to the network and make the transaction again

is the newest client still 0.8beta ?

Yes, this working client
But tomorrow will be an update, we fixed a couple of bugs and did only check the latest 500 blocks
Will not check all the blocks as before

Hypothetical Question: Let's say this real dumb guy had created a text file that held the original NXTL passphrases for him and his fiance's accounts when NXTL first came out and again being dumb he named it something pretty generic and filed it away for "safe keeping", month or two pass and when we get the request to create new passphrases for NODE he again names the file something fairly generic and files it away in the same location as the original text file.  Now flash forward 3 months and to his horror he realizes that at some point (probably drunk) he has deleted the text file with NODE passphrases & kept the original text file with NXTL passphrases in error.

This guy is boned correct?  Undecided

You still have a chance. See this page:

http://www.opensourceforu.com/2011/09/recover-deleted-files-in-linux/

Look at the Photorec program that comes with the Testdisk package. I can confirm that it works as I've used it to recover a lost NXT password once.

You have to point Photorec to the drive where the file was and save the output to a different physical drive. Then cross your fingers and wait (mine ran for 2 days and 2 sleepless nights LOL)

Not gonna sell my stake under 10BTC.. being about 1000 stakeholders means that selling for 10btc each stake would be a marketcap of 10.000 btc which is something really really easy to reach. Just have to wait a bit until a few weak hands and people who needs money asap dump their stakes.

Anyway with all the features and being an importan part of the supernet(if) i think is gonna be worth much more than 10 BTC.

My two cents.

Correct, but if you are not a heavy disk space user, the file might be recoverable with certain tools.
