Like the old saying goes....there's no such thing as bad publicity, and this was a very fair and unbiased piece.
(and it had NXT in it  Grin )

This film should be shared with everyone who asks: What is crypto-currency ?
NXT made an appareance? Where? I dont remember them talking about any alt, not even Litecoin.

I believe they're talking about the shirt:

I liked the show overall, gave a good no-bs view of Bitcoin. It was filmed in July of last year, though, so does feel a bit out of date.

The best bit is here, however, at the 6.00 minute mark:

Sneaky NXT promotion rules!

Even though that guy is wearing a NXT T shirt he doesn't even talk about NXT, just helps Morgan setup the Bitcoin wallet on his mobile phone.

SO yea...no mention of NXT whatsoever in this documentary piece.

Yeah, I'm with you, I didn't even notice it. But some people are excited about an appearance of a shirt on tv.

DAVID CHAUM's xx coin SALE IS NOW LIVE!
I've watched and really liked it!

But I'm thinking he can't mine 0.3 btc in a short time; they gave him some free coins Smiley

It was supposed to be the wage for a few hours of working on assembling miners, I guess. Probably still staged though. But I liked that they included earning BTC as opposed to buying into the show!

He was at our mine, they filmed all day (9am-5pmish) and Morgan did work during that time on assembling rigs, building racks etc. Off camera the team did help as well moving stuff around and hanging out in the heat of a mine in July. Nothing really staged, it was a long hot day, no free coins since we mined around 3.5btc/ day at that time. The animations basically broke down the discussions we had through the day. Overall I was really happy with the mine scene as they simplified things via animations. Im happy that the captured the payment and the transaction popping up on blockcahin.info right after they received it. That part really blew the crew and Morgan away... seeing the blockchain in action. Through the day we discussed all this process of mining and how the blockchain works, then to be able to sum it all up at the end of the day and show it in real time was pretty awesome.

Now I'm thinking, you've underpaid him Grin

That's great guyz, You've done awesome thing.

A little dated, but excellent largely positive introduction to Bitcoin. Spurlock is a charismatic guy and entertaining to watch. It may not seem so to most main-streamers, but I thought his interview with Senator Manchin made him (Manchin) look like the typical blow-hard, paternalistic, controlling, special-interest serving politician that he is, even though Morgan didn't really challenge him on anything.

I loved watching the mining operation and Spurlock's explanation of it all. I'd never seen enough information on that aspect.

Have you ever seen this video?

I thought it was a really cool look inside a mine.

The PR is welcome although I personally thought some of the coverage was amateurish and slightly over the top gimmicky

Who the hell is buying btc that way and why?

That looked like a 'Satoshi Square' event. Why? Because it looks cool, and all stock exchange trading was done like that only a few decades ago ;-)

yea I get it was done decades ago. But still WHY? because it's "hipster douche cool?"

It's useful for raising public awareness. More visible than online trading. I'd buy a BTC there for a laugh, even though it is admittedly not very practical.

Believe it or not, those Trade Floor style auctions happen every Monday and Thursday at the Bitcoin Center, so it definitely was not just for TV:

http://bitcoincenternyc.com/satoshi-square-events/

Also, I think there should be an ATM or BTM inside the Bitcoin Center, if people just want to buy BTC's without doing the floor auction.

yea but there's a price premium and not much actual trading going on.  but the free booze is cool :-)

I know this has been covered but if I was a spectator of this footage and I had no idea nor inkling for any of the tech behind it, if I was savvy enough or just not dumb - I'd realize the price at the coffee purchase was ~$634 and now it is what it is. So, "glad I never got involved in that shit." The joke's on them cause they can't see anything beyond that and that is why their future is limited to the fiat-bankster world they're living in.

Also 1.3 BTC was around 820 usd back then and he spend it in a week. Is life so expensive in USA?

He bought a round trip plane ride and hotel stay, I believe. That depends on how far it is and how many nights, but probably most of his money for that week.
