Seriously! Crypto community needs to start boycotting Coinbase for going out of service during every time market is correcting. I know other exchanges do go down also but seems like coinbase is down every freaking time when the market starts to go down. Always blaming at attack by hackers. Really? And soon as price starts climbing back up, service comes back online. Sure, call it a conspiracy.

Yeah, that is really weird. I am super frustrated now with fact that I wasnt able to buy btc yesterday when the price was down. I had my funds there and couldn't get there cause of coinbase went completely down.
What the hell?

Guys, can you kindly advise me on good exchange where I can buy btc using debit card? (preferably for europeans with euro) Thanks a lot!

Now that Coinbase's hissy fit is over. Move your funds out of coinbase right now. This isn't a help desk. Please don't get caught in their high traffic server maintenance or DDOS attack bullshit again next bloodbath. It will happen again, you'll regret it. Prepare and prevent missing the next sales!  just awful.

I use coinbase...but I never leave any btc or ltc in any exchange....always move it out when my transactions are done..if any extra....this is a common game..when the price
dumps suddenly the ddos attacks supposedly start....too many times seen this on exchanges....

hell for all I know coinbase is legit and really does get slammed when the price dumps and has issues....even so ...they rarely address the issues...

anyway ......been doing it this way since 2013....don't hold ANY coin on an exchange

and if price dumps on your crypto....well ...it is unlikely you will get it out before the dump happens for cash...so plan accordingly ..it will continue to happen imho

on any exchange

It is going down more ofter than it did before. This is surely a sign that bitcoin is gaining popularity and that many people are now interested in it and are investing.
Though the price has fallen now I'm sure it won't take much time for it to gain back it's price and the price also increased recently

After the recent dowtime, (...downtimes that happen every time there is a situation like last week...) I am moving to another wallet. Coinbase isn't the primary and only wallet I am using, but I decided they are not reliable anymore. I find it's strange coincidences that each time there is a signifiant move on the bitcoin price, the site is down/unsusable whatever...
That's true. The last week coinbase act seems strange, continuously goes offline. Yes, especially while the price of Bitcoin skyrocketing. Following this coinbase online wallet like others there not strange, if it being hacked, going bankrupt, or having our funds seized. Now is a great time to move our coins onto a hardware wallet or into cold storage.
Exactly, seeing a current bitcoin price I moved everything to Electrum.

I think this is intentional. There is no way the management behind the most funded exchange is so incompetent. They were working just fine as the price was rising. They're doing their best to prevent s further crash for sure.

I think they claimed doubling of volume and thus swamped. Likely also
Translation times sucked.

But, you could be correct. Easier to sell btc on the upside,
then cover and payout on the downside

Are you guys trying the sign message? still not working for me looks like they are still halving bug with their new theme and i think this issue still not fix.. i thought they will fix it according to their updates few weeks ago..
They also should give us the private key of every bitcoin we use there so that we can install the wallet address to the other wallet for safety.. honestly i lose trust from them because of many halving problem about their service i am still using their vault even they are always halving problem and issue but they should always inform people about the issue of their site sometimes it takes longer before they reply i experience of ignoring my message from them if i didn't post the issue in their twitter they never reply me.

Still  not working on my part. I think almost a week now since I created a thread about that.

I have also send them emails but unfortunately the response was made by automated replies and no concern of mine was being pointed out. Im not storing too much coins at Coinbase as I only used their service. Giving out private keys are not the main objects of most of the exchanges so accepts that and don't use them for storage purposes. I will try to send again another ticket later as part of my daily bump in their support.

Why should they start to blocking some countries?? More customers = more money...

As easy as It sounds, Its not. Things doesn't work that way, there are laws to follow and sometimes these laws prevent services from getting into some countries.

No laws in my country has changed. I am using coinbase long time. Thats why I can't get this outdage. But if would be true that CB cut off my country - shouldn't they let us know in advance, to get money out of them? I have now no accesss to my BTC and ETH. So to get my money I should move to America or what?!?

Use a VPN.

Coinbase is down.
EDIT: Coinbase is up.

Kidding.  Coinbase should be OK and they're somewhat regulated, but everyone would say similar things about Mt. Gox as well.

Whenever there's a giant rise in price like this, Bitcoin exchanges aren't quite prepared for the rise in traffic they get, even if they're solvent. Some exchanges will be safe and some won't, but it's extremely hard to tell the difference.

If I were you I'd just take out your money into cold storage or another safe place.

About 3 days Coinbase website and iOS app are still down. Should I worry about my money?

It depends where you live. They seem to be blocking some countries. If you use a vpn to access through USA or Australia can log in. Where I live it says down for maintenance but since can login via vpn seems to be a lie and just blocking some countries???

Coinbase is up now.

Just pissed of here a bit because I newly installed their app on my extra tablet. When I tried to login , I received about 10+ codes thru SMS. And all of that codes are not working. So now I test it on desktop to see if same problem occur but here it's fine. Maybe because it just only few minutes after the site become operational. I leave as it now on my tablet and will test again later.

Edit: Looks like still having a problem. Im not receiving their verification email lol.

The main reason of this maintenace of coinbase is because of this rapidly increasing value of bitcoin, they afraid that there users or most of there users sell their bitcoin back to their bank accounts (which this will happen of course to make some profit) and that's unfair just simply of that, that's why they make a reason with this...
"Investigating - We're looking into reports of customers incorrectly receiving CVN verification errors and 24 hour lockouts when attempting to verify new credit or debit cards. Bank account verification remains online as an alternative."
So expect that the site will back when the price decrease or if the price becomes more stable at this stage. Roll Eyes
