I think every exchange should support doge coin trading as this is the only coin that will never die, beside Bitcoin. Everyone always love doge, they use doge whether for fun or for option to move some funds to other exchange.

I understand that Bitcoin is the gold and Litecoin is the silver but what is Dogecoin really? I mean it started as a joke and yet people are using it even though the development is pretty much dead and seeing services starting to support it now make me question their credibility or even their sanity...

As for the market response then I honestly can't see anything. If you see the charts in CoinMarketCap for example and compare it with the time Coinbase did the announcement, there has been basically no significant changes, anything before Coinbase's announcement should not be considered as any type of "response".
I agree with you that the dogecoin is more like a joke because it was just created for fun, but one thing you should check in a coin to know if there is going to be an increase in price or not is the market volume, since dogecoin was one of the first coin in existence, it has a large market volume and that way, whales will be very much interested in buying so much of the coin in order for them to make profit in a future date.

Kudos to Dogecoin and its community, what I like about Dogecoin is that the team never promise any fancy thing and do not promise to change the world, it started as a joke and as remain a joke, the issue now is Coinbase, to me it seems they are just desperate to list any token/coin with volume and through away all other factors.

Will be good then, because there are a lot of coins already in coinbase, and why not they put up old coin that already famous. Maybe with that will help people to use that wallet. Because we can save Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin in same place.

One of the best thing about dogecoin is it's ease of use. You just don't have to deal with decimals and the transaction fees mostly are of just one dogecoin. Though I'd never use it as a hodling currency or an investment but Dogecoin is a useful tool for crypto users.

i never thought that a coin like dogecoin would support from coinbase. that is certainly good for dogecoin, but lets me doubt a little bit about coinbase.  Cheesy
With a volume of $35M daily, they can't ignore it.
But there will be another coins developer that might be jealous of this act by coinbase.
I don't want to mention the name of that coin.  Tongue

This news has not pumped price much but still good to see coinbase add support for this popular coin. Dogecoin is already traded on most of the big and small exchanges.

I do not think coinbase listing news now results in massive pumps like it used to do in early days, now we just see minimal effect on listing news which is good and sign of market maturing, dogecoin being a longstanding coin should have been considered earlier but looks like due to its funny or meme side it was delayed.

Coinbase does just right to demand the requests of the users. Dogecoin is a popular coin and many people use it as a transfer cryptocurrency.

Most of the gambling sites love to add Dogecoin as playing currency. The main reason being the simplification. One of the major issue for beginners while using cryptocurrencies is decimals. Sending money in crypto is difficult for small amounts. For example, if I have to send $10 in BTC, it would be 0.002 BTC. People like us are now used to BTC and we may not find it much difficult but for new users and beginners using zero after decimals can be quite tricky. Dogecoin solves this problem. Most of the wallets use standard fees of 1 or 2 DOGE per transaction. This ease the sending/receiving process. Moreover, most of the platforms don't use decimals for DOGE. When using crypto in whole numbers, usage automatically become easy.
I personally prefer DOGE for gambling. It is also preferred coin for/by micro earners. DOGE is one of my favorite cryptocurrency and being the supporter of DOGE, it is really nice to see it getting listed on such a big exchange.

Doge urges you to pass the coins to someone else before it blows up in your hands just like the FIAT currency. It is not a store of value but it is pretty liquid and it has its own fan base. I don't like Coinbase at all but I liked their decision.

I use doge whenever it is possible when I need to move coins between exchanges. More doge adoption is always good.

Coinbase can be the hardest exchange for a coin to list. And Dogecoin did achieve that. If you think how they started (joke) it is a great accomplishment.

This is a good news, i hope they will also add Dogecoin on pro coinbase for trading, or they just add it only to store on app? I use coinbase sometimes and until now for my needs is very ok.

I understand that Bitcoin is the gold and Litecoin is the silver
I don't buy that anymore, not since the deluge of coins coming to market in the past few years.  Litecoin is still popular, yes, but calling it silver to bitcoin's gold is basically saying it's the #2 coin.  Just glancing at Coinmarketcap, it's #5 and I don't think it's anywhere near as popular as a coin like ETH and some of the others.  What you said may have been true at one point, but not anymore.

I mean it started as a joke and yet people are using it even though the development is pretty much dead and seeing services starting to support it now make me question their credibility or even their sanity...
Dogecoin has utility as a currency, probably even more so than bitcoin.  The transaction fees are much lower and confirmation times are faster.  Yeah, it is a joke coin but it does have a hardcore community even if there's no more development going on.  It could stay just like it is and continue to be useful to buy and sell stuff with.

All that aside, I'm kinda puzzled as to why Coinbase would add dogecoin.  Hell, even Binance doesn't list it (and that's always baffled me).  And given how much it's used for gambling, you'd think Coinbase would want to distance itself from it.  If I'm not mistaken, you can get your account closed if any funds going out of Coinbase are used in online casinos.  Who knows what they were thinking--but I think it's a cool step forward for doge.
