both of them are nearly at the same level really. so if you only have these two to choose from then choose either of them, it doesn't really make much difference.
but if you want my opinion here is the difference:
cryptopia is more active and has more volume. it seems a better option. there is a much better and a working API on their platform whereas Coinexchange does not have the private API at all (last time i checked). they just have a public one and never bothered adding the private part. it shows lack of interest from users. and the volume of Coinexchange is also lower.
as for interface i prefer cryptopia over coinexchange too.

Some big exchangers are now often monopolized by whales, they go in and do the game. small traders are getting worse. and the best option is to do an arbit from a large exchanger. yesterday my friend bought CTR in cryptopia and sold it in binance. 0.5 BTC has entered into the wallet.

I've used Cryptopia before; it's ok. But I'm a fan of Poloniex. Their trading interface is quick, even in fast-moving markets. They also let you put in stop orders, which I think is really important if you're going to trade and not just invest. In general, if you're trading popular coins, it's better to use the larger exchanges. The smaller ones tend to have much bigger bid-ask spreads, which can cost you if you're trying to get in/out quickly with market orders.

Cryptopia seems good, But I suggest to you bitfinex exchange, the advantage of Bitfinex, is that you can buy more cryptocurrencies directly with USD. The site has good volume, excellent interface, it looks professionally done, even if the charts are mediocre.

i don't know cryptoecxhange .
i have used https://www.coinexchange.io/login for a few and ii run quite smooth!
same for cryptopia.
they run fine because they don't have 30K or 40K users at the same time lie polo!
I haven't used cryptoexchange till now but I have used cryptopia for few trades before without any issue. You can use cryptopia if you like but there are many other trusted trading platforms with huge daily trading volume like poloniex and bittrex use them instead of this small and pretty new trading platforms.
I vote bittrex. Polo withdrawals can sometimes be delayed by like 3 months in my experience.
