Me too first time I've heared though the miney shouldn't be a problem since it's not that familiar of a site so maybe it's a little attack that holds almost nothing though it's not literally nothing just implying that it's a bit low. The site's been down for quite some time but if the devs are actively engaged it wouldn't have been this long to revive their site unless they actually bailed out as you've said seems fishy to me.

The Coingather.com domain has been seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in accordance with a seizure warrant issued pursuant to 18 U.S.C. §§ 981, 982, and 1960 upon a probable cause finding by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio that the Coingather domain was used, or was intended to be used, to commit or facilitate criminal violations of 18 U.S.C. § 1960 (Prohibition of unlicensed money transmitting businesses). Please refer back to this page for future updates regarding the status of accounts held on the exchange.

If you would like to file a complaint and have not already done so, please visit www.IC3.gov. Please include in the body of the complaint a reference to “Coingather” and your contact information, including the e-mail address that you originally registered with the exchange.

But I'm not sure if it's the result of a war with the FIAT world,
or whether it is not more the result of a war among the cryptocurrencies themselves.

Things don't work that fast in the real world, take a look at what happened in Gox or inputs.io
The FBI will not just knock at his door, handcuff him and the beat the crap out of him in cell to get his coins.

First thing you should do is start preparing your case and better contact a lawyer or a groups that secured one already.
You're going to need proofs you had coins there and those coins are gone and back-up all the data you have about this exchange.
You guys should really unite in one case, I've already seen 3 Facebook groups, that is just wasting time and resources.

Anybody has an estimate on the total sum (btc value).
Trade volume was quite low, but wonder how much was in he wallets.

And the instability of these exchanges is incredible, in the case of Coin I know many people who had significant values that were in the loss. So far they have not given any explanation at all by the media.

Some people in the middle suggested that those who were injured by the exchange should seek the police force to file a formal complaint against the administrators of the exchange. These weeks also rounded on the internet several news reports that the FBI is investigating the CoinGather disappearance case.

You can't, bitcoin transactions are irreversible, you can only get your coin back if the owner decided to refund the coins back to his customer.

FBI will need to investigate the case first before they can make a move and seize the server or arrest the owner, this will take time.

Because the users decided to store bunch of coins inside  an exchange, this happened on multiple exchanges and always will until people learned their lesson

So how can we recover all our money? If this guy resides in the US and nothing is done to him, then US isn't what they said they are. The FBI should come into this matter. How can one guy go away with millions of USD$ if not Billions and let him go free. US government need to do something about it.

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me last Friday. This is Marlena Carver we spoke regarding the cryptocurrency exchange website coingather.com. Per our conversation I am sending you the detailed information in this email regarding the theft.

On November 22, 2017 the Cryptocurrency Exchange website Coingather.com went offline and subsequently took all of the Users Financial Holdings within the exchange. The exchange is owned by a resident in your Jurisdiction from what the Toledo, OH sheriffs department stated.

The Exchange owned by David C. Bushea (AKA. Rapta) age 32 with an address listed on the Godaddy registrar of 2910 Moffat Rd Toledo, OH 43615.

My holdings on coingather are in an excess of $XXXXXX USD over XX Bitcoins. I am one of 1000's of users that have been victimized by this exchange.

On November 29, 2017 @ 9:06 A.M I filled a referral form with https://complaint.ic3.gov/
This Morning I also filled a report with the Atlanta FBI field office with a officer ID # XXXX. I would like to file a report/charges with your department as well.

I have Spoken with the FBI as well as Sylvania Sherrifs Department, I have also taken all the information that everyone has sent me that has been confirmed to both organizations. On all of our part. Every Victim of Coingather needs to compile any proof of account and holdings (anything from personal logs, screenshots, deposit or withdraw emails ect.) and send them to both the local and federal agencies.

Stop calling it officially hacked. If it was hacked then site owner and his people should give us a feedback (or are they really that scared no give a statement?). The owner run away with clients money. He's a scam unless proven innocent in this case.

Coingather is Hosted in cisp.com OHIO ... The owner @rapta is David C Bushea Jr. He is there and do not answer our calls anymore.

I just called FTC and opened a complaint. The number is XXXXXX. Just a summary about
my case: This year I created an account at www.coingather.com, a bitcoin/cryptocurrency
exchange. I have an amount equivalent to USD XXXXX (in Bitcoin current price on
11/29/2017) stored at this exchange. Since November 23, Coingather has vanished itself
and now I don't have access to my money anymore. There are hundreds (possibly
thousands) of people complaining about this on the internet and we have not received any
official communication from Coingather team not even heard any news about them. All their
communication through social media has ceased since the day the website went down and
they are also not answering any e-mails, tweets and any other
communication channel.
Is I told the FTC atendant, I'm not accusing anyone of theft. But I and a group of other
people who were victims of the same company decided to perform a complex research on
the internet in order to try to find the responsible for this scam. We found a lot of information
that lead us to one guy. His name is David C. Bushea. You can find below all information
