Following up on this, I've been using CoinStats which I have found very user friendly and has the information I need at this stage.

I have been having one issue though, I use  the alerts for price targets buy/sell on various coins but they seem to only be sporadically working.

Sometimes I get notified and sometimes I get nothing which seem to make no sense.

Also if numerous alerts get activated during the same time period I only get informed of the first one and when I login there is no way to see which others have activated without clicking through every coin individually.

Thanks everyone for thoughts and suggestions.

I downloaded and had a quick look around:
Coingecko
Coin Tracker
Delta
Coin Stats

Of their free offerings I like Coin Stats so far.  I've just manually entered my holdings so far but it does say I cant connect to an exchange API to automatically track transactions so I might try that next.

What I like is the stats available, on Delta for instance most were behind the paywall.

I have the option to add/deduct from my dollars when inputting buy/sells which was my original gripe.

I also really like that the homepage of my portfolio displays Profit/Loss for each coin, I previously had to click on each individually to view this.  Even better I can quickly flick it between all time and current holdings which I think is fantastic!

OP I think you should try out this one suggested by dansus021, its really on actual value of your wallet. But it doesnt compute the one that isnt there like on your centralized market asset.

If you one that too is included then you could use coingecko tracker its much better than coinmarketcap.

Can you share the coinmarketcap portfolio Im a little bit confused here?

Yes there is actually a lot of Portfolio tracker but mostly tracked balance on Defi Application

You can use app like https://walletnow.net/ It tracked all EVM chain and you can add BInance API so track all your money. There is https://de.fi/ or https://debank.com/

and dozen more

Thanks, I'm only getting to grips with sending coins off exchange to hot wallets at the moment.  The Bitcoin/Eth fees are hefty for my level of investment and it turns out cheaper alternatives aren't all they appear to be with wrapped coins etc .... anyway I hope to use a ledger eventually but learning curve isn't there yet!
Those coins are risky as hell if you don't know it yet. Don't buy any Bitcoin-backed or ETH-backed token or something similar since most of the time it is hard to verify whether each wrapped token is backed by the named coin or not. Kinda like how USDT or USDC is claimed to be backed by real USD but time has proven that is not the full story. Buying hardware wallet should not be your first option if what you're looking for is just a portfolio app, although I don't discourage you to buy/setup your own if you plan on holding for long term.

however I now have to pay premium to see statistics I had access to before on coinmarketcap such as avg. buy price, %profit loss by coin.
I guess you can't have it all (for free anyway)
Try to look for other alternatives, I'm pretty sure app like this are popular nowadays. Those who have somewhat good reputation is likely going to paywall some features sooner or later though, and the free one is likely going to give you some headache like what happened with CMC. Unless you're fine with ads everywhere, I guess paying some monthly subscription is a good trade-off for a good app.

I never use Coinmarketcap for tracking portfolio you are looking for mobile version portfolio tracker I suggest check these apps below

- Crypto Market Cap
- Coingecko
- Coin tracker

Use those keywords on Playstore to download them.

If you are looking for more tracker check this list below

Yeah, also agree with you and I don't suggest Coinmarketcap because Coinmarketcap is more and more time providing false graphs and price data, I hope not to need to make decisions with Coinmarketcap or price and graphs because reality was losses fund many people in the more time.

I suggest that you follow multiple sites visit follow graph and price then make decisions.

I use CMC for portfolio tracking and as far as I know on CMC they automatically convert all of our assets into the currency we want, like USD, JPY or others. You don't need to do it manually because the system from CMC has done it automatically. If you are still confused, you can open the settings menu and set the currency setting to BTC-USD or the currency you want.
It's not set automatically, because when I tried using VPN on another location, the currency still uses the latest I've opened (without VPN). Because CMC uses cookies where they can get what you want. I still don't know why OP is very complicated when he knows how to use explorer, he just put his address and bookmarked it on the browser, I believe his problem will be resolved without complications. But it's different case when he invests all assets on exchange (risk) whcih doesn't have a specific address to track the asset.

Is it bad advice to search on Playstore to find apps and download them. Google Play store has bad reputation that it can easily list fake apps.

Better to visit those websites and get download links on those websites. Less risk to get fake apps except if those websites are compromised when you do this.

It is really frustrating to manually input your portfolio changes.  Getting a Portfolio Tracker that automatically updates your portfolio is one way to solve this problem.  You can try the Portfolio tracker listed on this article aside from the CPF that you are using.

This article   suggest some portfilio tracking sites/apps that can possibly solve your annoyances.

Trackers on coinmarketcap!
Okay, that's something I don't know about as I've got other uses for coinmarketcap and the chief of those is using it to check coin price, movement of the charts, percentage increase in days, weeks and years. Research purposes and more.
Using it for trackers on your portfolio, it would be a cool feature but, not getting the results you hoped might be you not following up on the correct use of the portfolio and that could be something you check out in the FAQ or relate it to the support.

Coinmarketcap portfolio update is manual, you have to do it yourself that is why @OP is frustrated and looking for other options to track his portfolio.

Ok, yes thankyou ... it was my plan to move to another portfolio tracker but I thought it would be worth asking for recommendations rather than simply picking another from the extensive list of possibilities  Grin

I don't trade as such, although I do dollar cost average on a selection of coins and sell a percentage when they make substantial gains.

Up to this point I've just been making manual updates on coinmarketcaps tracker as I've got my coins on a couple of exchanges and wallets.

I've found it quite cumbersome with having to add dollars afterwards etc. but I hadn't even realised there were trackers that would automatically collate what I have in various places!!!
If you find it difficult why not just leave it and use another portfolio. than you have to be frustrated with the Coinmarketcap portfolio. There are still many other portfolio choices and more features that can be provided.

I found a list of several portfolios that you can choose from.

As for portfolio trackers it appears you gain one thing and lose another.

i've been trying out Delta which massively improves trading currency pair with automatic deductions/additions to the USD pot ....

What portfolio tracker are you talking about?
It's on the title - coinmarketcap portfolio.
@OP I haven't used this portfolio tracker and I only check it for the prices because there are other trackers that you can use. Before the most popular was blockfolio but AFAIK FTX have acquired it and we knew what happened to FTX.

Am I overlooking some functionality or is there another portfolio tracker that performs better?

I like to see my portfolio in ledger live.
https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live

You should really consider buying a hardware wallet if you are serious about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies
I also use Ledger live and it's one of the best trackers that I've ever used although that's the main require, to own a ledger wallet first.

Maybe it's a small thing but every time I add a buy or sell to any coin on my tracker, I then have to do the opposite to my USDT so my chart represents my overall holding.   This frustrates the life out of me as surely when you sell a coin, whatever you get for it should be automatically added to the portfolio!!

Am I overlooking some functionality or is there another portfolio tracker that performs better?

Don't know how this coinmarketcap tracker works. But back of the days 2017-2018 I used delta apps which was much more popular at that time. You can try it if it's still providing its services.

Is this portfolio tracker needed to do trading? I used it but did not take it too seriously. what I did, just add some coins and check the total sum every day to satisfy myself Smiley

I haven't used coinmarketcap portfolio tracker. So, can't tell what's happening there. But a portfolio tracker should do the work automatically. When you buy/sell crypto, your holding should be reflected accordingly.
I used Blockfolio though I don't know if they are active now as they were acquired by FTX.

You can try Delta app.

Edit- Just checked coimarketcap tracker. It doesn't have the option to select buy/sell pair so it automatically sums the holding. Ridiculous. Try delta app instead.
