About the down time ,
Time : 2018-01-19
First let us explain what is coinsmarkets , we are based on 2 investor , 1 admin , 1 coder , 2 senior support and 4 general support .

In November last year 1 of senior support left the team , It is hard enough to hire a new one , this work is based on a lot of trust , so we still waiting for correct condidat .

Now let's move to the issue , in December we experienced a lot of new users and huge volume , we were ready for double or even triple volume but in our case it was 10x +.

From here all kind of problem start with servers ,

Now add to that the last senior support remaining have some family issue and was forced to be off  most of the time .

In addition to all that there was some db corruption issue we faced due to the overload and later hosting issue.

So a lot of work to do with a lot of missing stuff.

Please understand that in exchange you can't just go and hire someone and trust him millions of dollars .

We are sorry for lack of comunication about issue we have thought that people already trust us enough , and we invested 100% of time in restoring the site .

Now issue with hosting , hosting complained about a lot of fraud report from users about our service . We find this really hard to explain , it is clear that not even a single coin has moved from our wallets , and once again we are here to stay ,

We have not even released 10% of our road map , there is a lot of new future to be added in the nearest future.

A week ago we started negoation with new host that can accept similar service , we initiated the move ,

The Database was fixed yesterday night .

Now remain to setup new servers , few fix here and there and service will be restored ,

We write our news only in coinsmarkets news section , any twitter , chat msg etc is a scam ,

Again Official Coinsmarkets message are written only in coinsmarkets news section .

Thank you for the clarification. Hopefully these issues will come to an end soon enough. Continue taking your time.

Did this newb just said "continue taking your time" you do realize that money is at play here. I for one have multiple coins sitting on that exchange that have 20x or more on other exchanges while this site is down ( GCN, DIME, EMBER, 808, XP) most of this were pumped and dumped, so i missed the flight due to their irresponsibility.
Why wait till the bridge collapses to start working on the bridge. especially when you knew ahead of time that the bridge couldn't handle the capacity of load it's been exposed too. Continue taking your time my ass Roll Eyes

Is there any specialist here? What is the disk space required for such an exchanger approximately?

I doubt that disk space is the issue.  With a high number of users, you need to be able to spread the web (and probably database) load over several servers - it is bandwidth and processing power that he needs more of (and probably memory).

Regarding the time it is taking, trying to order high end kit at short notice is hard, and then it all needs to be set up properly (which is not quick) to ensure that it is working together without issues and securely. ~3 weeks is more than I'd expect though, but I don't know if he's paying anyone else with more experience in this to help or not.  If not that could explain why he's taking so long to get it all operational on the new system.

Unfortunately, having apparently not anticipated the level of demand, they are having to do this while their site is down rather than with a site that is sort of running but struggling as has been the case for some other exchanges as they have grown.

Of course those systems needs time to build, but admins can do I quite soft, warn people, withdraw all, shut down exchange - upgrade - test - full throttle, not that way like coinmarkets did

You did not understand me. I asked this question to understand - is it possible in one day to transfer all our wallets to a flash drive?

The most critical resource is memory, they run hundreds of wallets and each takes about 400MB of RAM. So this can not sit on a hosted, or shared server. It needs a small datacenter with dedicated machines and lots of memory.

Jesus Christ, its 18th January i mean, i'm not an expert in setting up huge servers, but this is getting ridiculous....
- 23th of January sure is the right info some guy gave(remember that?)...i wonder if it was a fud from some random guy...or it was actual legitimate info
it was FUD, this info came from coinsmarketschat, from user " CoinsMarketsDEV" fake , and he just make bot message, and alot of users just catch it and start spreading this shit. I personally seen like that fake "CoinsmarketsDEV" or "CoinsMarketsADMIN" or ..... were trolling dummy users. So  there no any info at all... Ill be happy if im wrong, but im sure that im not((

Do you know if coins still steaking while all this happens? And yes, it would be nice have the opinion of some expert.
Do not you think that if they wanted to steal our coins, would they do it in one day? Copy the files wallet.dat on the USB flash drive and fly by plane to the Virgin Islands.

Reported coinsmarkets.com to afm.nl (email address: [email protected]) , Now coinsmarkets have to answer to authority that regulates financial markets
in the Netherlands.
That is not helpful at all. Firstly, crypto exhanges are not banks and thus not regulated financial institutions.

Secondly, if you ever want to even see a small amount of money back, DO NOT get any authorities involved. Remember what happened to MtGox? Nobody has seen even a single Satoshi back from them, and that happened years ago.

So hold your feet still and let them fix their hosting, rather than making it impossible by complaining and crying to all an everyone you can imagine. Like stupid little kids.

Agree, no authorities, but we can rage on those at least here, it's our community, and they cheating in really bad way, tons of lie about migrating to new servers for about 15 days already  Smiley
