I found something interresting in their FAQ:
https://cointracking.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/29000018276-missing-fees-in-the-tax-report

Missing Fees in the Tax-Report
Modified on: Wed, 6 Dec, 2017 at 10:04 AM
"At the moment, the fee values are not deducted from your gains in the Tax-Report.
You can easily find them on the "Trading Fees" page and subtract them yourself from your total."

If I substract my fees my gains now appear to be underestimated by CT, but not by much.

Dario can you tell us if this FAQ is accurate and we must all substract our fees from the gains in the Tax report?

Anybody has gains in the tax report overevaluated like crazy?
Cointracking gains are 200% of what they should be.

Maybe it's because of issues with some imported trades?
I have my trades imported from Coinbase, Bittrex, Bitfinex and QuadrigaCX.
I tried API imports and manual ones and the result is the same.

The bad part is that I paid for CT only to be able to do my tax report easily but so far it's not working  Undecided

Hi,

Simple question I'm probably overlooking in the help file.

How do I determine where my balance in a particular coin is held? Say I have 10 BTC total in 3 exchanges - where do I find how this is split up between the 3 exchanges?

Thanks,

EDIT: Solved my own question. Found "Balance by Exchange" under the header on the Dashboard screen. Now I've got everything balanced & my quantities match the exchange.

Nice job on all the new automatic API integration, you guys have been busy! Smiley

Hello,

I'm sorry but I'm completely lost with this app. Everything looks like unclear and a mess, except for dashboard.

FAQ says there is profit / loss on dashboard & stats page, there is not ! Only balances, btc price (which comes from nowhere, current btc price displayed is false), etc... but no profit/loss nowhere in these pages.

The only page I saw is -> Realized or Unrealized gains (Unrealized? what the goal of this ?) which display completely false values according to my polo trades.
If I display profit/loss in US dollar for a two week period, it shows some pairs at more than 100k dollars of profit ?!? I just have less than 10k on polo so ?
If I display as BTC for the same period, I don't feel the values is correct.

Sometime keeping things ASAP (As Simple As Possible) brings more clear and effiscient stuff. I'm cold to order your product thread owner.

My main request about a profit/loss tracking product is to be able to track profit / loss indeed. It looks like I cant with CoinTracking, or do I have missed something ?

Any help or official reply ?

Thanks.

Can someone help me understand the «average purchase price»? I don’t know if this problem is due to some bad registering, or if this is just normal behaviour. My USDT average purchase price per coin is about 11000NOK (which is around 1300USD) and my average sell price is 8.5NOK (which is correctly about 1USD). This makes for a huge registered loss. If I view buy and sell separately, the average purchase price is about 8.5NOK, which should be correct. Also, if I click on «detailed calculation», all trades have the USDT price of roughly 8.5NOK).

I made some bad trades between XMR/USDT and ZEC/USDT recently, but I can’t understand why this should reflect on the average purchase prise of USDT (which should be at a very stable value).

I never hold USDT, as I only use it as a mean to buy other crypto. I only have 0.5USDT left. But I have a realized loss of 4500NOK on the USDT ledger. Which should mean that I sold USDT at a huge loss. How can that be? Either I don’t understand how this is calculated, or something is wrong with the calculation or registering. I’ve double checked my registering (csv import from HitBTC), and I can’t find any errors. Can somebody shed some light on this?

Hi
I have looked for service like your for a long time
really happy to find you
I think there is a problem in bitfinex API import
it imports only a few of the trades I think only the deposit and after 5-6 tries
I have tried to change API keys I have tried to do it manually etc every time it import 1-2 orders out of 5-10
and the big problem is after when you import CSV it gives you a warning that asks you to delete all the trades in order for the API import to work and it still don't work Sad
username is [email protected]

I'm having this same problem. New trades are not being imported, even after a forced reload on the Jobs area.

Is this a problem with Cointracking or BitFinex API?

Best,
cptvk

Same for me as well.  It only will pull in a few trades at a time when using the API, have not tried csv import yet. I'm going to let it run for a few days and see if it gets all the trades in.

Please let us know when you guys will include adjusted cost basis reporting used in Canada into your tax formula.  Really need it for reporting 2017 trades!!!  Thanks!

I think your comment just made me realized why my gains according to cointracker are a few thousand higher than they should be.

So basically the trading fees need to get taken into account into the gains/losses of each individual trades right?
So if I take the Cointracking gains and then substract all the trading fees, that should give me my real taxable gain right?  Or much closer than it is now for sure.

Anyway, I need this as well for my Canada taxes!
I purchased a PRO account just to do my taxes so it needs to work.

Totally confused....Just paid $300 for 2 year plan, uploaded all API's and can't get a accurate picture of my account. Am I supposed to put in my Wallet info too? For example, I have 5000 ripple and 4000 ARDR on a wallet which I transferred to after purchasing on Bittrex. The value in Cointracking says zero for both but has a incorrect high bitcoin number listed. When I transfered the ripple and ARDR to my hard wallet, does bittrex/cointracking think I cashed it for BTC? Does it no longer count if I've put the coin on my hard wallet? How can I correct it to show my balance?

Because you imported deposit and withdrawal from the api, so if you move out from the exchange you need create a IN Deposit move for the coin.
Otherwise you could importing from he api only the trades, so you'll have the correct amount for each coin

Hi Dario,

I'm trying to sync up my Ledger Nano S Ripple Wallet but your Alt Coin wallet list doesn't have XRP on it.

Could you add that?

I'm trying to make sense of my trading gains and mining revenue using CoinTracking. But I can't figure out the 'mining cost basis'. As I understand, the cost basis of mining can be set to either:

1) The value of the coins at the time it was mined or...
2) Zero.

As I understand my country's tax rules (Norway), the base cost of mined cryptocurrency should be equal to the cost of producing that currency (like commodities: labor, raw materials, power etc.). For a mining rig, this would be the electricity cost consumed and (maybe) a part of the cost of the hardware itself.

Now, I can't find a way of specifying a custom base cost of mined coins.

If I understand the tax rules correctly, I could just divide the the cost of electricity consumed by my rig in 2017 with the number of coins mined in 2017. This would then be the 'mining cost basis' per unit of currency. Is there a way of telling CT to use a custom value besides just zero?

Please clarify how account information (trades and gains) is protected from viewing by any parties other than an account holder. Do you use encryption for data storage? Is it client- or server-based? How strong is it? Under what circumstances could it be retrieved by not a holder? I'm asking because this is very sensitive info which being obtained by a third party observer could cost a lot for the holder. You have an awesome product, I'd pay for it, but I need to get security clarifications first. Thanks.

Can a US resident tell me whether the IRS allows the use of "Best Prices" or "Counterpart Prices" when calculating gain/loss, or must "Transaction Prices" be used?

I believe you should be able to use Counterpart Prices, as it seems Transaction Prices ignore fees, etc.

Thanks!

This looks like a really cool project, I usually avoid this type of thing because of privacy concerns, well that and coin security. What kind of personal info is shared and with whom using this service? Thanks
