I'm going to guess that due to the nature of this forum, there will be a lot of comic book fans.

What I don't get is how they've managed to absolutely dominate Hollywood when I genuinely have never met a single human being who reads them.

Everyone knows Superman. I doubt 99.85% of my fatherland's population would've had the slightest clue who Doctor Strange was before he was shoved down their throats.

I've attempted a few but it's never going to be a medium that'll ever work for me. And when I look things up on Wikipedia I start getting a headache trying to wrap my head around Logan being in Hell after having died 762 times before he was born, but that's before he splits off and becomes 17 different bus conductors who all turn on him or something.

Are you voracious consumers of them? If you do, do you have the slightest clue what's going on in them most of the time?

yeah I love comics, I used to read more when i was younger.. now ..i still do but way much less.i am a serious superman fanatic, but am also somewhat partial to Spider-Man. read comics book is fun, It's nice to break away from real life.

I was a huge fan of Marvel X-men universe and read every story that existed.  This was during the birth of New-Mutants, and eventually X-Force... and eventually a billion other comics.  I'm kind of a maximalist so it was all or nothing for me.  I couldn't afford to keep up so gave up.  Many years later with an established job I could afford to jump back in so I started reading X-Men universe again and I was shocked how politically correct the stories were.  I tried to divorce my own world-view so I could just enjoy the story but I gave up when a story revolved around a bigoted Christian who blew up a bus load of mutant children, while a peaceful Muslim was advocating for peace and coexistence.  It wasn't subtle either; the story hammered home several times that Christians are bigoted and that this is normal, not the actions of an individual.  I gave up and haven't gone back.  Now I see they're replacing all the established characters with SJW and I'm not even considering going back.

I read a lot when I was young. It was the time when there were no TV (where I lived) or cellphones. My father used to scold me a lot for reading comics. Are these school text books? Will you get through the examinations if you read comics? he used to shout. Some of my father's friends told him that I was just looking at the pictures instead of reading the text also. How wrong they were.
