I've had good luck with most PNY cards over many years, but they don't seem to be designed for high-end miner usage on their cooling systems.
MSI has a pretty good rep for mining.
I would AVOID founder edition cards, you're paying a premium for an INFERIOR cooling system and a non-factory-overclocked card with LOWER performance.
Gigabyte Windforce, Sapphire, and EVGA have been my go-to preferences.
I'm not paying a premium, because the only cards that are cheaper are the KFA2, the Gainward and the MSI Turbo that has probably problems of cooling.
Just don`t get MSI gaming 1070 they are dieing like flies, good choice would be:
Gainward phenix , Palit gamerock
Gigabyte G1
EVGA AMP, etc
Don't buy cheap basic model, they will boost less and you will lose 3-5% on hash rate
I never boost my cards as I fear to prematurely make them die.
The KFA2 as a pretty high clock compared to the other ones :
KFA2 :
Base : 1 594MHz
Boost : 1 784MHz
Gainward :
Base : 1 506MHz
Boost : 1 683MHz
Gigabyte :
OC Mode :
Base : 1 620MHz
Boost : 1 822 MHz
Gaming Mode :
Base : 1 594MHz
Boost : 1 784MHz
Asus Strix :
Gaming Mode (by default)
Base : 1 531MHz
Boost : 1 721MHz
OC Mode
Base : 1 506 MHz
Boost : 1 683 MHz
