Dear All,

to support the community in conversion of bitcoin units we had implemented a simple website CalcBitcoin. The new site should support you in any question regarding bitcoin units. Fit currencies as USD, EUR and CAD are supported, too.

We are open and happy to get any feedback or requests to improve our service.

While I like what you did/attempted to do, I think things like dBTC and cBTC are only going to confuse people. Not to mention these have never been used (to my knowledge) in the Bitcoin world. You need to add "bits," too.

I started a topic here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/converting-btc-mbtc-cbtc-btc-and-satoshi-on-coinedup-bitblahcom-574782 about the using bitblah.com to convert BTC to other units.

If you have any questions about converting between btc, mbtc, cbtc, ubtc and satoshi or if you find an issue let me know.

I know it can be hard to convert between these units

0.00000001 ฿ = 1 Satoshi
0.00000100 ฿ = 1 μBTC (microbitcoin)
0.00100000 ฿ = 1 mBTC (millibitcoin)
0.01000000 ฿ = 1 cBTC (centibitcoin)
1.00000000 ฿ = 1 BTC (bitcoin)
its nowdays so simple for me to count these  coins as i always use the satoshi unit as if i need to convert 0.001btc into satoshi so i will simply say it as 1lakh satoshi as in this way i get used to it.and btw nowdays we don't have to even count it by ourself insted our wallets already shows us how much it is and what is the value of it in the faint currency

Standard metric prefixes folks. It's not exactly rocket science. Just move the decimal place around.

I still don't get how people don't understand this yet. Even people that have degrees in science often have no idea how to go from um->mm->cm->m. It just baffles me. It's such a basic thing and you learn it in elementary school and it's reinforced in science classes every single year.

True.
It is just like m (meter) cm (centimeter) and mm (millimeter).
i think the problem is with americans, since they are not using the metric systtem as the rest of the world

In Satoshi I Trust
1 BTC = 1 mio bits. mainstream will never use 0.000326 BTC - thats crazy.
big numbers are lot better when you use a currency like 20.000 bits = a coffee or something like that.

Not your Keys, Not your Bitcoins
I have learned these btc values very quick as many members said in the thread, this is like converting meters to milimetres. I don`t think it takes more than few minutes to get used to them.

1.00000000 ฿ = 1 BTC (bitcoin)
Actully you just posted the units of BTC  Grin
unit conversion will be like this (below)
isn't it a lot simpler to set it like this instead all those 0.0000 Cheesy

1 BTC = 100 000 000 Satoshis
1 BTC = 1000 mBTC (millibitcoin)
1 mBTC = 100,000 Satoshis
1 μBTC (microbitcoin) = 100 Satoshis

Let me try to explain even more in details Smiley

BTC <-> satoshi, uBTC, mBTC, cBTC

1 BTC = 100000000 satoshi
1 BTC = 1000000 uBTC
1 BTC = 1000 mBTC
1 BTC = 100 cBTC (I never heard this unit)

satoshi <-> BTC, uBTC, mBTC, cBTC

1 satoshi = 0.00000001 BTC
1 satoshi = 0.01 uBTC
1 satoshi = 0.00001 mBTC
1 satoshi = 0.000001 cBTC

uBTC <-> satoshi, BTC, uBTC, mBTC, cBTC

1 uBTC = 100 satoshi
1 uBTC = 0.001 mBTC
1 uBTC = 0.0001 cBTC
1 uBTC = 0.000001 BTC

mBTC <-> satoshi, uBTC, cBTC, mBTC

1 mBTC = 100000 satoshi
1 mBTC = 1000 uBTC
1 mBTC = 0.01 cBTC
1 mBTC = 0.001 BTC

cBTC <-> satoshi, uBTC, mBTC, BTC

1 cBTC = 1000000 satoshi
1 cBTC = 10000 uBTC
1 cBTC = 10 mBTC
1 cBTC = 0.01 BTC

Ad maiora!
I'm horrible at math. Anything to do with numbers gives me problems. We are dealing with money here so I like a little help. I use this http://youmeandbtc.com/bitcoin-converter/convert-btc-mbtc-bits-satoshis-usd/
And to be honest, the more I use it the better I get at moving the decimals (my main problem being; remembering the names of the different denominations!)
Spellcheck has actually helped me learn to spell better, so hopefully these converters will teach me my btc denominations too.

Maybe, this simple calculator might help.

http://satoshi.24ex.com/

This is very helpful for beginners

yeah, but people should better use the brain and not a calculator...
it's simple a move of a decimal place and nothing more

but if someone is not sure, he can use a caltulator to get a feedback  Tongue

I wish, the whole globe has to use bitcoin. All people must use the brain and some more kids would be better at school.

Yep i had problem with it before also but after some time you get used to it, atleast i did with no problem Wink

yeah i used bitblah to convert it every time, usually when i claim faucet and giveaway, also in gambling
there are so often satoshi used in faucet, and mBTC used in gambling. Making me confuse sometimes, so that site is really helpful Cheesy
and we rarely use microbitcoin and centibitcoin in bitcoin world. We often use bits for 100 satoshi instead microbitcoin

the way it is written in the OP makes it more comfortable to compute for some others that are new in crypto world.

this good to be remind because even easy to learn but sometimes i forget about this convert most people don't use this convert
for example almost every post here for 0.00000100 only post 100 satoshi but rarely write 1 μBTC and for 1 cBTC most people
here always write only 0.01 The most frequently use in here only mBTC

Americans tend to have problems with basic math and science.

I am not from US, so I don't know if it is true, or just stereotype. Cheesy
