end of story for you maybe, not for me.
Alrighty, here's something you don't know.

LTU_btc got his account recovered in November within 4 days. Refer here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.24907492

Bitcoinbazaar.net aka premium_domainer also got his account recovered this year. Refer here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.27843795

So your accusation of 0 accounts being restored this past calender year is no longer alive.

Account recoveries are headache, it may not seem like it, but it is a big one. One reason why:

IP logs can be easily checked. Its literally a single button: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help;page=profile#admins

Sometimes the issue is that, the Bitcoin address that is staked, its private key is sold along with the account. If the old account holder used a VPN/TOR and the new account holder also does the same, then investigation becomes complicated.

Now theymos's statement on account recovery:

maybe theymos and cyrus should just take a day or two out of every month to investigate and restore them.

It would take at least a couple hours every day to deal with them. Each case typically requires a lot of follow-up. And it's really annoying work. I used to do them sort-of regularly, but at some point I just couldn't stand it anymore, in addition to not really having time. Cyrus is still doing some, though not enough to keep up.

There's no need for any fee, and a fee probably wouldn't be appropriate unless absolutely necessary. Money is not a problem. If I could throw $100k at the problem and make it go away, I would do so. But in the real world, there is no magic wishing well where you can throw money and make things happen. You give people money and they don't do what you want, or the people you hire turn out not to be trustworthy, or you fill out the tax forms wrong and then later have to spend more time&money dealing with that than you would've by just doing the thing with current sub-optimal resources, etc.

I acknowledge that the current situation is very bad, and we have some plans for fixing it. I hope to have manual account reviews going smoothly again before the end of the year at the latest.

theymos mentioned before about hiring someone with a business degree or something to run the forum

Yes, this would be very useful. I hate that I'm basically acting as a CEO here. I hate dealing with lawyers and accountants, or figuring out who to hire. This stuff is not my wheelhouse, and is in fact not even on my ship. I wish that someone would take all of that business-related stuff off my hands. But it looks like that's the one aspect which is most difficult to (safely) get rid of, so I've been trying (with only a bit of success) to delegate in other areas.

What I do know is that there have been 0 accounts recovered in the last Ca. 1 year?
Do you?

plus why would he check my post history? activity? and timezone? yo are saying only "selected" members are now entitled for recovery? lol.
ip logs are also redundant imo. and NoI do not think they check all that- infact they check NOTHING a big NOTHING Smiley
I'm saying that theymos claimed that he does a lot more than verifying a signed message and that he has limited time. It doesn't matter if you believe or not. End of the story.

You go here

Pay the quoted amount on the page to the specified bitcoin address and wait for one confirmation on the blockchain. Once you have one confirmation, refresh the page and it will give you a dropdown menu where you can then select the copper membership to add it to your account.
Brand new and up can get it (/anyone).
Thank you for the information I will try later after 0.00208333 BTC, I will fulfill this link, I will save it ... Once again thank you ...

I want to ask, is it possible for a copper member after payment to Newbei or wait for the position of jr, the member can only process it to the copper member ...
And how to pay and who I pay officially ...

You could've posted an address and then later posted the private key to that address somewhere as a competition or something, he'd have to check that.
He also has to chekc that you haven't sent out a loan or something...

its not wise to believe everything you read. it takes no more than 2 minutes.
Except you don't know that.

The only thing you know is that he requires a PGP/staked address. You don't know if he checks your IP logs, post history, security log, posts/activity timezone, etc...

Yes it is,
  (edit): same address, 3EBvB2qqG53yeE7vAYWxnepDhXE9WwPuLT

look's that every new account have thier own generated btc address.
I don't expect that this be able to happen.
I salute the people who behind this idea very impressive and have fat brain.

Yes that was really cool too. I think if it begins with a three that means that thymos is using segwit addresses (unless it's multisig) which is an advancement since I paid for my membership...

And it is a good system that manages to assign everyone an address without collisions.

Read this properly:

By popular demand, newbies can now pay to have some of their restrictions lifted. If you pay the fee, you become a Copper Member, and you can post images. That's the main point of this: allowing newbies to post images. Additionally (and these might change depending on how things go), Copper Members currently have these bonuses:

- Some of the same permissions as Member-rank members, such as reduced signature styling restrictions. (But none of the PM-related restrictions are currently lifted, such as the style limit or per-hour PM limit.)
- Your "you must wait ____ seconds between ___" counter is reduced by 75%. So if you're naturally of Newbie rank, you only have to wait 360-75% = 90 seconds.

If you paid an "evil IP" registration fee, then whatever you paid (in BTC terms) is subtracted from the upgrade fee. If you paid a registration fee a long time ago, you might even get a free Copper Membership due to the increase in BTC price. Just visit the link at the bottom of this post to check whether you have it already.

I am aware that for most people the benefits of this membership are pretty lame. This membership is only intended to fill a specific niche; if you don't need it, don't buy it. It is not intended to be the lower-cost Donator/VIP alternative which I've talked about before as a possibility.

I wrote the system so that I can easily add additional paid memberships in the future, but I might not ever do so. Not sure.

You can buy it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote
I knew it, i am very grateful for your effort.

Does copper membership only allow users to post pictures. If so, why do members at higher ranks use it?
Or maybe they used it at a lower rank initially?
It's cool and it only costs ~$15

I bought it just to test the system and to be as a bit of a donation to the forum.
I'm sure there are some users who bought it and then became member since and so no longer need it.

I've read that account recovery requires an investigation that may take a lot of time and only two people can do it. maybe the reason[1] below can make you wiser.

Is there a way to see our “payment addresses” and can we make donations to the forum by sending BTC to these addresses as opposed to the standard 17RTTUAiiPqUTKtEggJPec8RxLMi2n9EZ9 address?

You'll be given a payment address on any page where payment is expected, but please don't do that because:
 - Donations are not necessary now.
 - It'd skew my accounting.
 - I might not use the same "accumulated payments" method of awarding memberships if more paid memberships are added in the future, so you might not get anything for it.

Yes, it calculates the total amount that has been sent to any of your payment addresses

Yes, it calculates the total amount that has been sent to any of your payment addresses, and if it's greater than or equal to the copper membership fee, then it gives you a copper membership. So at least in the current system, you can pay it across several transactions, or you could pay the copper membership fee amount instead of the lower evil fee amount in order to be unproxybanned and get copper membership at the same time.

Note, however:
 - Before you send each transaction, you should re-copy the appropriate address from the page. Do not save the address and use it far in the future, or blindly reuse it, even if it seems not to change.
 - Balances are never withdrawable, there are no refunds, and nothing is guaranteed.
 - The copper membership fee could increase in the future, even if you already have some partial amount deposited.

Good day everyone,

I have question regarding to copper membership.
It's ok to do partial for the copper member payment?
Copper member cost is 0.0017btc and when i created this account i pay for an evil ip which is 0.00031btc.
I'm wondering if, It would reflect to my account even i pay only half of the amount for the mean time, and to be follow the rest ?

Thank's and regards.

I paid 0.002+ for mine so the 0.00031 has already been subtracted. Presumably, any extra amount you pay will also be subtracted. I'm curious to know if the address for the copper membership is the same as the one you paid for the evil fee?
