Ethereum grew because of the hype around its renewal, but also a large share in its growth was just a normal market correction. I think that in the near future Ethereum will be able to fall a little lower and then go up again, but it can change. I expected that before the Ethereum would go down to 120 dollars, it would hook the border of 180 dollars.

I didn't think from beginning that it must be a pump before hardfork. But if it will be before 16 January. I'm ready to open short-positions on ETH. THe market isn't still ready for a new bullrun.

I think eth should be left the way it is and it will surely pump once bitcoin does the pump also if not I see nothing that can be done to eth to increase the price at the moment. Enough people are holding it which means u can control them you just have to leave it

SAPG Pre-Sale Live on Uniswap!
I think it is an overall market crash and not only limited to eth as every major coin is dumping but i think this is due to market manipulation or fud over etc hack news and i think it will settle down soon and market will recover.

I'm surprised how everybody is just talking about the drop and not 51% of the chain under attack. The coin is about to be forked and there would be consequences. Having said that, this doesn't mean XRP is better than Ethereum at any given day. Stop freaking out. HODL for the fork!

No, it's just a natural result of a very good mini pump.
If a coin pumps very well, like 7% or more over a prolonged period of time (a week or more is considered prolonged period of time).
Then, naturally, when there is a price correction, it drops rather hard.
It is simple economics of supply and demand and all markets experience this.
It is much more pronounced in crypto though because the market is so volatile.

As far as xrp being at #2 again, it won't last long.
Their market caps are very similar nad as the market stabalizes and grows again, eth will overtake.
Also, in the long term, ripple doesn't stand a chance against eth.

I'm surprised and find the current market price very interesting people should be buying Eth right now it should be pumping but that is not what happening right now, it was overtaken by Ripple for the second time, I just knew it's going to be a head to head battle for these two coins.

Yes there is a tough battle going on between these two coins, as ETH has dropped more than $18 today which was never expected in this hard fork. A lot of speculations were only on the pump.

Really bad that ethereum could not hold the second place, but i think we will see a change with ripple many times this year. In my opinion the fork hype is not over yet, but because bitcoin has fallen, ethereum has also fallen in price.

I just checked coinmarketcap, I noticed that Ethereum hasn't just drop about almost 12% in the space of 24 hours but it has also been replaced by Ripple's XRP on 2nd position on the position.
Do you think the upcoming hard forks of ETH hype is over and people are dumping already ?

This particular hard fork is absolutely nothing special, basically just lowering the block reward.
But some of the upcoming hard forks are absolutely huge, and there might not be a better time to accumulate.

Grin Let's be honest. We are all here to make money. And how to make money when the market is dead. I think we all need to make the last deal. And do not worry any more for Bitcoin not for ETH. Of course this is just my opinion. But I do not see for a long time pozitivnyh trends. And that means only one thing. Big problems.

This recent crash has nothing to do with ethereum fork.
Ethereum fork may be amazing for the whole ecosystem, as it is going to be a step closer to proof of stake adoption.

The whole market is suffering now, and ethereum was number 2 already for months
Eth and xrp are going to be competing for the second place for now ..

I think this could be another temporary lead for XRP, because I'm expecting a little slide in ETH's price or market capitalisation as it has always been the case prior to any Ethereum hardfork. Since Ethereum has undergone the same trend in the past, I don't consider that there is any abnormality in this sudden change.

I have no idea why there should be a pump prior the fork in the first place. This fork is an upgrade and there will be no free coins.
The logic of past such forks would be that there should be a surge after the fork. We will see.

it doesn't matter. all that matters is the hype, if the hype becomes big then the pump can become big. this hype wasn't that big so the pump of it wasn't that successful and it is already falling apart.

on top of that i believe there is a good chance that we end up with a couple of ethereum forks because not only they are forking it to PoS but also there was another fork planned by some other team that i read about a couple of days ago!

all of it is a terrible mess and like all hard forks there will surely be a big dump exactly before the fork because people will leave out of fear of hard forks and their risks that can destroy a project.

i have no clue, but ive been holding USDT for the past 4 days hoping to catch a dip,
and i missed out on some profits by doing so..
but guess what?
i brought ETH today around 3pm, thinking it would be a good time to buy..
and a few hours later the market crashed (of course)..
and now its down -11%..
soo i pretty much missed out on ~40% profits this week, and instead i now have -11% on my portfolio due to a last minute mistake..
im so irritated! UGHH Angry Angry
