Crazy things are happening. Hurricane Milton and Helene are coming and there is a casino that has bets on it several categories. At first, I thought maybe it was some joke but it actually a real casino. In one of the categories, there is a bet on the death toll. See picture attached. I mean should our bets be guided by ethics and morals? Even though the casino said the proceeds from the bets would go to hurricane relief, it still doesn't make it right.
Don't let this surprise you now, people are crazy just as the world we live in now is crazy, people do "everything for money, it's so unfortunate. I also hope you won't be like the gullible people who would believe they will surely give the proceeds of the money to the hurricane victims. Most of these guys are liars and if at all some of them would give some money out to the victims, they might give a very small proportion of it to them. Integrity these days is scarce.

Damn! This is craziness overload! Plus Ultra! Cheesy
I don't know what is really happening to the world. Did it really become so boring that people would even create things like this?

You're new to these things, aren't you?
These bets are childsplay compared to what we had back in 2018/219 on Augur!

https://www.vice.com/en/article/ethereum-assassination-market-augur/
You could since then create every single bet you wanted on the ETH chain, from people dying, celebrities assassinated, mass shootings, war, natural disasters, everything! This is still censored centralized stuff that goes nowhere near the things that Augur saw back in the day, you could have created a bet for some celebrity getting arrested for drugs or pedophilia just because you wanted to!

Again and again, I'm surprised people find these surprising when they have been around all the time!

This is so low and pathetic to bet on disasters and human griefs. Even if people do that to win and donate money to those who have suffered from hurricane wont look like a good excuse for their action. I have checked https://retardio.casino/ and this casino is full of degenerate bets... So sad to see people go so low to earn and encourage bets like that. Previously I saw bets like that, but it was a photoshop. Now people really create such dirt on purpose to earn...

It is very morbid that people want to bet on these kinds of things. I can see there being a prediction market for political assassinations and some mentally disturbed person might try and bring their desired outcome to fruition. The casino that is hosting these bets is named Retardio Casino and from their social media you can tell that they are trying to appeal to memecoin degens with low moral standards. I would be hesitant to deposit any funds at this casino because they might try to rug pull or they might be shut down by a legal authority. If they are willing to profit from tragic events, there is no question that they would also be willing to scam their customers.

I was looking at the casino and they have some crazy bets on their predictions:

https://retardio.casino/category/breaking%20news

You can find things like:

-Will a Boeing plane crash before 2025?
-Will a nuclear weapon be detonated in 2024?
-Will ByBit or OKX employees be charged with money laundering in 2024?

And i can say it's fun to see those crazy factors to bet on, they have some categories like politics, cryptos, war, and other stuff.

It's a cool idea, the only bad side is they don't allow cryptos, if I'm not wrong they only work with fiat and cards.
I was initially disappointed with the casino after reading the first post but now that I have seen your comment, I can't help but laugh Smiley. Now I see why they chose the name "RETARD"! Obviously, the casino was built for what we call cruise in my country which means fun and entertainment. Sometimes it is feels unique to be known for something because there is a saying that "bad publicity is better than no publicity". So, the casino will surely be famous for these crazy events which I do not see beyond entertainment. The bests for the hurricanes are like free money but I will refrain from giving the option I will go for.

I wont be surprise if people bet on Israel and Iran who win the war or bet on who will strike next. This how the world has been programmed to be. You see people dying instead of saving them, we watched them die or survive. Everything is seen as fun and that's so bad.
I'm waiting for this to happen. Cheesy For sure, there will always be people who will bet on everything because... that's how crazy the world we are living currently is.

It's a bit unfortunate that we are seeing people who're affected from these 2 hurricanes suffering while those who aren't are just betting on the lives of other people. The 2 that the OP posted are by far the worst bets that I've seen, and I expect more like this in the future. At the same time, expect more like "Will Hamas win against the Israel?" or "When will the fight between Iran and Israel ends?" or "How many people die on the Iran-Israel War? Above 5000 or below 5000?". How crazy is that folks? Where's the humanity when we need it the most?  Huh Huh Huh

Well, there's a chance though that the soldier bet might not be true, but that shows how crazy people can be for the sake of fame. :X

The truth is that we are heading towards the abyss. For hundreds of years, people have liked to bet on fights. The more blood there is in the fights, the more people have enjoyed watching them. Years have passed and people have not changed. So if people like to bet on fights, I am not surprised that they are now betting on the destruction that Hurricane Milton will bring. See, there are videos of people putting themselves in danger because they are filming while Hurricane Milton is active causing destruction, all because these people want to gain attention on social media. The truth is that people no longer have many feelings like love for others and respect for others. Money and fame are destroying the souls of many people.  Cry

This is some of the craziest bets that I have ever seen. Betting on over or under with the death toll. Dude, I'm not betting on people's death although these natural calamities really are expected to bring wrath to the affected ones. Really the bookies will have it anything for as long as people's interest are there and going to bet for everything where money is.

I hope those affected people and that guy are able to survive and still kicking as of now. My sympathy is with those people that have been badly affected by the hurricane Milton and Helene. I've just watched it on the news last night and even I am not from there, I know how it feels when devastated by strong storms and surges.

This doesn't surprise me, after all, we already had several types of similar bets at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In fact, this is quite immoral, I would never bet on something like this and I also reject this type of bet.
Very highly immoral. Personally, I cannot shake off the thought that in some remote island, some humans have been dropped of to survive some very harsh and dangerous conditions and that there are billionaires out there who have together with their friends placed their bets on the survival of some participants just like real hunger games. Maybe I will dig the internet, look for and create a topic for discussion on these types of immoral bets.

Quote
I think it is valid to bet in this sense when questioning whether the Hurricane will pass through city A or B, whether it will gain or lose strength, etc... based on more technical issues, but never betting against or for the loss of human lives.
I agree.

Still, this doesn't justify even those who made bets that he was going to survive.
There is no justification whatsoever indeed for people who patronize these sorts of bets, because if there were no gamblers who staked on these sorts of absurd betting options, these casinos would never consider betting or creating these options, trying to make money from people's predicaments.

Even though the casino said the proceeds from the bets would go to hurricane relief,
Will there be any way to ensure and checkmate that all proceeds are sent to relief? I doubt. Any casino that can flaunt a bet option for gamblers that is so unethical should not be trusted. The casino must make some kind of profit from it; otherwise,  what is the point really for them?

In another category, there is a bet for man named Lieutenant Dan online says He plans to ride out category 5 Hurricane Milton in Tampa Bay. People are actually replacing wagers on whether he’ll live or die Source

regarding this bet, I think I have an update if anyone is curious

I just saw a video of "Lieutenant Dan" on tiktok after the hurricane passed, looks like he survived he even said the storm wasn't that bad. anyway, glad the guy survived and the peopel who bet on him surviving got their payout.
Yep, that correct. Man is all over the internet right now. I think so many people were concerned about him and they kept checking in on him. I saw videos of him all over X(formerly Tweeter). He is one lucky son of a bitch. I wonder what people who made bets that he wasn't going to survive the hurricane are feeling right now. Still, this doesn't justify even those who made bets that he was going to survive.

Lol, I rather expect this bet to be something like a joke.
But the first one, it's extremely creepy and I am curious, these kinds of best must not be allowed right?

At first glance, the Twitter post and profile, are kinda a troll or even a scam attempt.

So people are in one side of the world dying and undergoing pain from loss of property and some of their loved ones while there are other people in other sides of the world gambling about their situation. I find it very insensitive and any gambler who gambles on this sort of game needs mental checkup because it shows that your conscience is completely smeared. We should be sympathizing about their situation and trying to seek ways that we could aid them in relief not trying to make money from their situation by gambling on it or have fun from the situation by gambling on it. I will stop using a casino that decides to bring these kind of insensitive bets for gamblers to stack on.

That shouldn’t be allowed, it’s unethical. Is that casino even regulated? If it is, it needs to be reported because making jokes about a major disaster, especially estimating how many will die, is not acceptable. How about we place a bet--when do you think that casino will be shut down? This month or next?

It’s not that I support this kind of bet because I found it unethical too but these data is available in public via news channel which means there’s always a body count after the disaster regardless of this betting option or not. This casino just provides betting opportunity base on the stats. I think it will be forbidden if the bet itself is the one who will trigger to influence the result such as how many people will x person will punch and so on that will damage to others due to the bet.

Seriously speaking, Is there any demand on betting option like this? This kind of bet will just die since gambler will not risk money on this bet due to a lot of uncertainty to come up with a good prediction.

~

I would nuke such casinos immediately as it is immoral to bet on the stuff like the aftermath  of natural disaster behind which are the life of real people.  I smell shit after saw those pictures on X. Musk is crazy as a bedbug as it seems he enjoys  to shock folk  by allowing such sorts of crazy posts on his platform.

I find this post hilarious to even begin with, before I consider or speak about the ethics of gambling and if this situation serves right.
No doubt there can be more ways one can gamble without even placing a bet on sports or casinos and as we are progressing in technological advancement and innovation, it has become increasingly easier to place a bet from within a bunker if possible and one can earn good returns.

No matter the intentions this bet hopes to fulfill, it doesn't make it morally right, but we know that gambling itself takes guts and many a times rules can be bent or broken to bet on a scenario where there might be a chance of winning big on returns.
