Scammers are always lurking to attract new holder so it is awareness thing. We have also seen major exchange cracked and loss of millions of fund so decentralised exchange has slowly becoming top priority. In the future as well we will se hack attempts so this is nothing new , exchanges should increase their security and try to move towards decentralised way and educate current new users about these things.

There have been many attempts from exchanges to prevent hacking, but most have failed. Because blockchain technology is mostly open source, it is quite easy for hackers to get information. Ok, but how many dollars have been involved with illegal activities? Currency isn't inherently bad or evil, it is just a tool used for transaction and it is on the humans on what it is used for. A baseball bat isn't good or bat but it can be used for a weapon, now lets ban all baseball bats.....
But, still regulating the use of crypto currency is impossible in the present because of its decentralized nature making it hard to control especially when it have been used unethically. There is still a chance to change it given with time and effort for a better environment for everyone.

It is not exactly the same, while there is no doubt that scammers and hackers are taking advantage of the technology to get money, in the traditional banking system you can easily recover the money that was stolen from you, but this is not really an option in this market, you are the only one that is responsible for your coins and if you lose them then everyone in the forum will be sorry for your loss but there will be nothing anyone could do to help you to get your coins back. Yes many scammers now in Telegram and they creating fake accounts like moderators on exchange telegram groups and some others are just dm you immideiatly and they will ask what the problem on your withdrawals or in your account which is not true because they just a fake mod. And this is what we need to aviod because all TG mod not dm you first if you have problem. It is not only about the scamming, there are deeper type of illegal activities or crimes that are happening behind cryptocurrency. One of them is buying and selling drugs which cryptocurrency became a great tool for criminals because of the anonymity and also because of the fast transaction that they experience without leaving any trace. I know that it is one of the bad things that will affect the reputation of the cryptocurrency but I believed in the near future, with the help of the government, we will avoid having those activities.

I interview some people and they are afraid because the only thing that they know that criminals are using it. They think using cryptocurrency is illegal and bad. That is the sad part because the misconception is continuing to spread.

They only know crypto through investment stories with huge profits, and that makes them pay attention to this field. So when they learn about it through investment, they often come across Ponzi communities, otherwise known as crooks - criminals. Finally, they become the victim and spread the rumor out. 
It seems to me one of the usual propaganda statements made by those who have an interest in blocking the spread of crypto.
The crimes that can be committed with crypto can very well be committed even better with cash.

While it is obvious I do not like that propaganda at the same time I understand it, the people in positions of power know very well they cannot stop bitcoin by any conventional means and they understand that at least they need to slow down the adoption of bitcoin to try to buy time until they can find a way to do stop bitcoin, but it is clear the hypocrisy on their words since all they accuse cryptocurrencies to allow happens at least 100 times in their system and they do not say anything about it. Perhaps as we need to get used to this. I had hoped the SEC would get involved in the crypto market and manage a series of scam projects but it didn't. I suddenly realized this was a spontaneous market and was not approved by governments. Therefore, all activities here are counterfeit and it is illegal. Actually with this, it is also our duty to make ourselves safe from crimes in cryptocurrency, we all have the freedom to decide and each of decision matters. If we commit a decision that will definitely expose risk in our funds, then it is our responsibility and it is us ourselves to blame.
