I'm not sure this is real or not...but you should also interview people that mined back when it first started that COULD'VE been at least wealthy.

I know the sad stories are the people that had their bitcoins stolen, but I mined hundreds/thousands of bitcoins and just forgot about them.  At the time they were worth maybe $3.....after being worth $20+ (kinda near beginning)

I Admin at a Enthusiast Computer Hardware website and still remember the first thread about Bitcoins.  "How to pay for your Expensive Video Cards"  I was "at the time" an avid overclcoker and had about 8 Ati 5870's and 5 5850's just laying around.  Previously being used to run benchmarks for scores.  up to quad-tri-cross Fire lol

I had the craziest setup in my house and still to this day I credit those rigs teaching my son about troubleshooting computers/hardware.

Bitcoins hovered around $3 for the longest time and being an overclocker I would reformat 50 times a month ...I just forgot about them and the pool I mined in.  A lot was just mining with no pool.  Having a family.... words can't describe how sick I've been since December.

anyways it would be cool to see something about the rise of Bitcoins.

ps...I'm more disappointed that I didn't continue to mine.

I've always dismissed the stories about early miners losing/destroying hundreds or thousands of coins as the stuff of legends as the early miners I've met waited until $.50 or $1 before selling out. However your story suggests that at least some of those unmoved blocks of 50 won't be entering circulation.

What is a Bitcoin Millionaire?

Are you looking for someone who still holds 1 Million Coins OR are you looking for someone that got a million USD on his bank account because he was an early bitcoin user?

I'd say the latter. I doubt anyone even has a million coins.

I think Satoshi is the only person who has over a million coins. He's a Bitcoin Billionaire too  Cheesy.

I think it could be a great documentary, but you need to be more transparent and set up some sort of crowd-funding if you want the community to help you out.
I think the OP said he doesn't need money, but instead he needs us to find some cool stories about people becoming rich with BTC. If he does however decide to make some kind of crowd-funding, I think Kickstarter could be a good way for that.

A documentary film about Bitcoin and some early adopters would be great! Seeing how people have become rich always interests people Wink Also if Bitcoin would be used in some more mainstream movies it could lead to people becoming more interested in it.

HI Guys I am a filmmaker looking to produce a feature film based the fascinating true events on one or more of our BTC Millionaires. I have two candidates I am interviewing in the coming months, however I would like a few more options. Can anyone refer me to a BTC millionaire with an incredible story?
We Believe this film will bring some huge attention to our beloved Crypto Coins and hopefully boost the use of Crypto Worldwide. With that in Mind we will be marketing the film by fundraising and funding the entire film using only Crypto currencies. NO $ WILL BE USED DURING THE MAKING OF THIS FILM.

Any Rags to riches story relating to any CryptoCoin would be greatly appreciated.

Any Donations are welcome.

(please pm me your name and donation amount, so we can keep a record of all donaters.)

Update : (Apologies we will not be accepting donations through bitcointalk.org)

Who I am isn't important right now, I am just looking for an honest opinion of how a film like this would be taken i figured the community might want to get involved is all Smiley

I know the game too well.

I believe that who the filmmaker is and what they have done IS important- because who they are and what they have done speaks directly to what they can create and IF they can even get it made-

"Rags to riches"?

I think there's much more exciting angles as its much more than a way to get rich AND we've seen that narrative a million times before

Probably not the type of happy ending that OP was looking for.

There was a guy I read about on reddit early last year. He was up to his neck in debt, young family and crappy job etc. He got a windfall of ~$30K and put it all into bitcoin. I don't remember too much about it but a lot of people were watching his story play out with a sort of morbid fascination. I'm sure one of the other readers will remember better than I can what happened.

I'm sure that he is debt free now right? Smiley

I think something else that might be nice to pursue if of interest to you would be talking with some of the people who where in close contact with satoshi before he left or a documentary on slush.

Great Idea. How about this instead of looking for bitcoin Millionaires you should do "In search of Bitcoin Millionaires." If your goal is to get the world out about bitcoin talking about 1 or 2 people that made a lot of money will not get any attention. If you interview hundreds if not thousands of people about how they acquired their bitcoins. It would be looked at as wow that many people mess with bitcoin. Then towards the end of the film you feature the ones that made it huge. Just finding the people that made it big is like doing a movie about some guy that won the lotto. I found out about bitcoins like in AUG but did not budge and now I sell tshirts on this site to get my coin on and to purchase mining equipment. Once again great idea this is just a suggestion.

Thanks Grumpy619, Also a great idea from your side I just don't do Documentaries myself. The two people I am in discussion with had some serious life changing events during all of this, I was looking for similar stories to these. I don't think I have come to the right place though:) thank you for sticking to the topic, much appreciated.

If you are really in pre-production on this film and you want to seriously ask for funding here you should have something to show potential investors so they have a reason to believe you are not just a bullshit artist looking for free btc

If you want money for a film at least show...

-Trailers from films you have made (Show your past work)
-Script Synopsis (at least a few potential story hooks or samples from your screenplays)
-Your bio or your production companies bio

I make animated feature films myself so I know the game  Wink

I'm not really looking for money or free BTC i will happily fund it myself, I just thought it might be a nice experiment for crypto currencies in General to see if the entire film could be funded in crypto currencies. I am not really looking for investors.

Who I am isn't important right now, I am just looking for an honest opinion of how a film like this would be taken i figured the community might want to get involved is all Smiley

I know the game too well.
