Also pls stay away from this ICO: Smart Trade Coin: https://fintelegram.news/ico-sam-alert-do-not-invest-in-the-smart-trade-coin-ico/

In addition, we are quite sceptical about this ongoing ICO: https://www.extauri.com/

There are so many fraud going on in crypto industry and some of them have reach hardcap in ICO but run away then with investors money. I hope you can help expose them as early as possible. Maybe you can take a look at this board too https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

There are people who are willing to help in exposing those scams so your work would be much easier. I know it is hard to track the people behind because of the nature of crypto being anonymous but your plan would be a big help for the investors who lost their money due to this scams an for the future investors to avoid the projects.

Bruno + Fraud_Investigation would be an awesome team to exposed those scams ICO and literally save thousands if not millions of hard earn money pouring on scam projects right now. And your extensive background could be an asset in this forum and you should call out projects as early as you have the suspicions and the proofs to back it up because most of the time, its really too late and the scammers already took off with investors money.
I don't think Investigation is the problem, the problem is with the punishment for the scammers. We have a huge community of supporters located all over the world who succeed in finding shady projects. Even if exposed, there isn't more than can be done by these remotely located investigators. Community needs a service which will pick up from an investigation and present it to the court. I believe OP isn't interested in doing that as well.

I am an early Bitcoininvestor and I was really fortunate so far. I came into Cryptocurrencies because I believed (and still do) that it will make our world a better place. Unfortunately everything related to money also attracts fraudsters/imposters of any kind. I would like to give back to the community by dedicating some time into investigation some frauds that i come across.
You're welcome. You might as well give the community back in terms of donating to the open source projects based for bitcoin. Electrum being a good example. Smiley You don't have to worry about ICO frauds, in a coming few months, FBI will do that for us.

I have extensiv forensic experience as an accountant and former employee of a government regulation body. I will try to use my expertise and help the community to see the truth behind scams/frauds and bad/greedy people and bring them to justice.
That sounds great! Can you help a given scam company to be taken to the court or file an allegation against them? For instance, YoBit exchange have robbed thousands of dollars from the traders and yet they're operating nicely.

Following up this question since I do have the same on my mind and seems op didn't respond any comments and suggestion on this thread.
About taken to the court and file an allegation would really require too much effort and time, even though you do dedicate yourself into helping the community thru investigations even solving a single problem wont really be that easy. I'm not underestimating op for his dedication and seriousness on what he aims but let the authorities do their jobs.  Wink

Super cool! Will you be posting on here about your findings?

I think the fakers are what scare people the most. Plus they are super detrimental to people actually making quality projects.

With your knowledge and wealth of experience, I think its better to deploy it into the areas of ICOs because if you want to go after individual scammers, the fund involve would not worth the amount of energy to get the information. Also, if the individual is discovered, it might be difficult to get action done due to proximity issues. The part of bringing them to justice to me is a 'post natal action' which might not succeed and except you want to take laws into your hands, because most legal system is flawed to allowed for transparency and in case of huge amount, the can lawyer up and frustrate the whole process which would take forever to get closure.

I would prefer you focus on the 'pre-natal' aspect based on your experience, review projects and come out with facts that is free from emotions and feelings then decide whether its ok to proceed or not rather than putting a disclaimer. With that, the trust in your knowledge would increase and you would have saved many from avoidable heart breaks which is one of your objectives set to achieve from the beginning.
I think what you

I would like to give back to the community by dedicating some time into investigation some frauds that i come across.

So you can start with these projects:

Scam activity STOXUM ICO. Use animated picture and fake name.

Is a very shady project and if you can find out something about who are the people who created this project, it will be very good

I have extensiv forensic experience as an accountant and former employee of a government regulation body. I will try to use my expertise and help the community to see the truth behind scams/frauds and bad/greedy people and bring them to justice.

all the help is welcome, we need to stop the scammers.

Overview second case

In an articel today our friends from Financial Telegram are asking for help related to three (or just one?), mining related, austrian based Mining Frauds.

http://fintelegram.com/request-for-information-omnia-tech-cointed-and-blockbase

Our first impression is, that both cointed and omina are Vehicles similar to MLM companys with the ability to collect a lot of money. And it seems that both of them are using another austrian mining company calles Blockbase ( https://blockbasemining.com ) and theire facilites to make propaganda for themselves. You can see they same pictures on the BLockbase homepage (they already removed them, but you can still find them online on some places like: https://news.bitcoin.com/large-european-power-company-will-not-sell-electricity-to-crypto-miners/blockbase-mining-facility/ as you can see on the omina mining ads like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bfATvXk82c or in the cointed mining ads like: https://www.facebook.com/cointed/videos/1487816527951172/

So we have three mining companys that claim that this is there location. Thats the first red flag that we found.

We are interested in community information about all three companys to learn more about how the have been wokring together and if this could be one big scam with gigantic amounts of euros involved. Our first informations allow us to guess that the damages are supposed to be greater than 100 million euro.

We are looking forward to receive information here in the forum and or through pm.

peace

I would like to announce two cases today that I would like to start working on:

The first one is:

Arbitractoin (ATC)
https://arbitracoin.com

Overview:

Arbitracoin is a fraudlulent Bitcoin Collectoin sheme that has raised between 3000 and 4000 bitcoins in an ICO that has been started at 01.02.2018
Various Multi Level Marketing and E-Commerce "Veterans" have pushed this scam on different levels. Our working theorie is that there is no real product (exept the marketing efforts) behind it.
We assume it was typical pyramid fraud with the single purpose of collecting bitcoin and vanish in the wind.

Status Quo:

So far we are trying to identify the related bitcoin public keys to use blockchain forensic tools and help finding out where the coins went. One of our Forensic experts is already working on this. We have already identified one single adress which has collected more than 1.000 btcs in a very short time and are following the leads.

Next Steps:

If you have any background knowledge or if you have been an investor please share as much information as you can. You can choose to share it here in the forum and or in a pm.

Sounds great! Help is always welcome! I have already started working on a fraudulent ICO. I suspect that a few individuals have stolen between 3000 and 4000 Bitcoins in Austria/Germany Area. I have just started collecting information but its already very obvious what happened. I will do a little bit more digging before I share the name and ask involved people and investors for statements to do initial examinations. peace
