I don't think Bitcoin is going to be the only crypto in the world following the end of fiat. We can see a number of government initiatives appearing. Royal Mail Gold for example, and it's difficult to see the direction that the gold backed Renminbi will take. The venezuelan "petro" may never get off the ground. Also, I believe that some of the parallel coins will survive ( what others call forks. Smiley ). SDRs willbe used for inter government transfers.

I always thought that they are overpriced for the long term investment. Not because of the hype either.

If Bitcoin really becomes something very big and widely used, it will likely not be the center of attention.
I don't see it as a product in that time, but as a tool.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me like Bitcoin will simply be used for everything and therefor putting it into your name will be similar to putting a word "Internet" or "website" in your name. My point being that words mean little once there is noting to communicate with them. Bitcoin might simply be implied when you start a website in the future.

It's a really a shame people are snapping up all the decent .com related crypto domains. Hope to see this kind of practice made illegal by ICANN.

What a strange comment - should Supermarkets be allowed to buy food to sell on at a profit? How about all those people buying Bitcoin, and saving them.

What really annoys me about domain names is when a great name is registered, and somebody puts a Mickey Mouse site on it. and they won't sell it for proper development.

It takes a lot of time and skill to find decent domain names. Would you spend 3 hours looking through lists, and not buying anything?

My New Year's resolution was to stop chasing other people's concepts, but I liked your XBT keyword. I've just picked up XBTkiosk.com for reg fee, and BitconKiosk.com is for sale at $6,817, so I'm grateful for the suggestion. Smiley

btw 88xbt.com dropped 18 days ago.

It is actually the same guy owning both 88xbt and 888xbt before.

It is in a gold rush phase as you mention, the seven figure sum for xbt.com is just a starting price, it can be higher. Even my 8xbt.com and freexbt.com with several countries+bitcoin.com receive many offers.

That's interesting. I've got some Bitcoin names like BitcoinUncovered.com, BitcoinVirus.com, BitcoinScammer.com and probably a couple of dozen others, but I haven't received any offers for them. This is probably because I have privacy enabled, and I have put them intany active market places. I didn't pick up any XBT names, as there seems to be a bit of confusion about the international code to be used. XE and various other sites use XBT, so that is probably the best, But the Bitcoin community seems to use BTC, although Bitcoin Cash has caused abit ofconfusion with this.

It looks as if I might have missed out on this. Here are some prices on one market site

I haven't been able to find a good informed discussion about Crypto related domain names, so I hope this is a good place to start one. I must declare a vested interest here as I have about 40 .com names at the moment, and I'm letting some xyz names drop shortly.

Bitcoin is an interesting phenomenon, and it has certainly caused a major revolution in the banking world. There has been considerable debate about the creation of Bitcoin, and one current theory that seems to be gaining traction is that it was created by globalist bankers, and it is a beta test for a new world currency. However, this thread is not about the creation of Bitcoin, but about the changes in the value of crypto domain names as new products are created, and as they gain popularity.  We have seen a dramatic rise in the value of good Bitcoin names, and XBT.COM is current on offer for a seven figure sum. We have also seen a gold rush into crypto names, and the subsequent dropping of many of the names registered during the state of euphoria.

We now seem to be entering a new phase in the crypto currency world. With government backed creations like the Royal Mint Gold blockchain, and the Venezuelan Petro.I think there is scope for investment in selected names to help prospective users to understand the ramifications of the new issues. Bitcoin is maturing, and it looks as if it may become a mainstream store of wealth. This will create a need  for more investment advice in the future.

What do you think of the current crypto domain name market? Are we still in a gold rush phase, or is the market stabilising with limited investment possibilities?
