Hello, I have a question for you that regards crypto scams. In the years since I started to invest in bitcoin, I have come to understand that there are different types of crypto scams and fraudulent activities depending on whether we are in a bull run or a bear market cycle. For example just as we are looking at reaching a new bitcoin ATH soon, I can imagine that certain opportunistic scams may become more prevalent as bad actors try to capitalize on the hype and mania. Also, I think that in the bear markets there will also be another kind of scam where scams try to take advantage of the fear and desperation some investors feel.  Due to the changing landscape of crypto scams between bull and bear cycles, what are some of the typical scams to watch out for in each market condition?

Its not about the market condition but the willingness of other people to take advantage on situation and scammers will scam people whatever season we are experiencing. But expect a lot of scam will rise at bullish season or other called bull run since they take advantage of people thinking that there's a lot of opportunities for them at that time to earn.

That's why there's a lot of scammers will create a token to introduce to people and then scam them. We see this to happen always and there's a lot of meme coin rise up at this times so we need to be cautious on joining anything which offer us to good to be true profit since usually that is just a scam.

There's countless types of scams and new scams get invented every day. You can't learn them all, but you can simply use logic to avoid all scams not only in crypto but in real life too. If someone asks you to give them money and promise something in return, they are most likely a scammer. You should generally only send money after the other party delivered what they promised. Of course this can't apply to investment, so invest  only in those businesses that you trust - and you can't trust anonymous people on the Internet ever.

Scammers don't go on holidays, they are there every single minutes of our life waiting for their baits to catch.

I'm not a scammer so I would know the specific scam that will be used this time to exploit investors but with old experience of how they have been operating, ponzi scheme scams are more like to keep it's stand because of the bulll season and at the same time it's also used in the bear market because people might want to withdraw there profit during bear market and then they can get scammed.

You can also be mindful of wallets scam, and if scammed already be mindful of recovering lost funds scam etc. there are many scams that you should be mindful of.

Crypto scammers really work with market trends, developing methods to be employed during both bear and bull markets. They are constantly looking for new ways to expand their fraudulent activities, but they are largely chasing greedy people who want to get rich as soon as possible.

Although they will develop different methods in any market circumstance, whether bearish or bullish, we must exercise caution and avoid being greedy.

It's never related to any particular market conditions as these scammers are active with some or the other scams throughout the year but they get more victims during bear and bull seasons as that's when people wants to earn more and falls for the scams. But if we are cautious enough then these scammers can't do anything. It's just the greed and ignorance which makes people fall for their traps.

Throughout my years in the crypto space and since joining this forum, I have not seen a specific scam that will be targeted for so long and continue to defraud people. After a while, I believe those scammers will find a way to rebrand the scam so that the process of scamming will be different than before, but the end goal will remain the same; defrauding their victims of their hard earned money.

New scams emerge on a regular basis, and if you are only aware of one type, you will be carried away without knowing when the other will scam you through another means. Scams are common, so you must be vigilant and always look for red flags in any of these scams so that you can recognise one when you see it. There are no specifics, and if you are told about some, try to learn more about others rather than becoming overly focused on one type.

The problem now is that scammers have no specific areas of specialization and they don't have a particular way of scamming people if not every body would have known their tricks and how to avoid them but since they are very smart to be able to keep bringing out different ways to scam people, I think the best way to avoid them is by doing exactly what Mia Chloe said and to be able to achieve that one has to stay totally off from anything that is cryptocurrency related that is tagged free or invest a little to earn so much this is the easiest way they get their victims through free airdrops, offering help to those who are having issues with their wallet and so on. To stay free from scammers one must be smarter than them and the best way to do that is to be informed just like we are now.

When you talk about cryptocurrency and scam especially in these period, they are like one and two and when we go specific then we talked about scams like the airdrop scam, these are more popular and people do partake in them on a large scale due to the simplicity it brings and also for that the fact that even the real airdrops are similar in same participation patterns so it somehow difficult to identify them until the final claiming process and thats where most of them turn out to be shit.

Scammers don't chose dates on when they will make their new and next move. They always ride the current issue, news, event, etc. then make their move. But one thing is for sure the motive is obvious and it's to make their next victim fall for it with monetary value. As long as you know it's too good to be true offer, suspicious users suddenly messaging you, new created website, fake apps and websites (google search is a huge help) then you're good..

Well for starter avoid the telegram or social chats. These people are usually pretending to be an admin or someone authorize about certain concern and eventually will lead you on the scam site. These are the one you should avoid.

Next is the links. Most people got scammed due to airdrop and dropping on fake links that they thought the real one. These are the common modus of them but other than that some are quite tricky method.

There is no specific scam in the bear market or bull market. It is just that when scammers try one scam, and it has been known, they try to come out with a new one, so that people will be a novice to it, and for victim. So what matters is that we should be careful with the links that we click on, and also we should be careful of offers that are too good to be real. Offers like doubling of crypto when you register in a site, clipboard malwares and also download your software from the original site. Everyday new scams are introduced. Greed can also make one fall victim for these scammers.

To avoid writing too much unnecessary text  will sum it up as a list.
  • Ponzi investment scheme
  • Airdrop scams
  • Phishing via investment ads
  • Wallet scams like fake auto trading wallets.
Most of them are common but are rampant this period.
Most importantly don't forget to keep your keys safe.
