Is there any scientific term for that yet? Maybe we do have a new kind of addiction.

Investment/trading gambling addiction?

Are we talking here about gambling addiction or love for cryptocurrencies? I have trouble to differentiate between these two.

An interest in cryptocurrencies does not necessarily mean you make compulsive purchases

Yep, pretty soon I'm going to be stockpiling gold and silver as well Tongue Of course I'm addicted to the idea that I can dictate my own future and not have other people spend any future earnings I have without my permission.

i don't think its negatively impacting my life, i just think i'm addicted to it...bitcoin would have to go to the low double digits for me to ever lose money but i still feel compelled to buy lots of it even at today's prices.

is that gambling?  Shocked

Investments can be considered gambling -- high-risk ones even more so.

I had a friend that loved gambling - poker, blackjack, SportsPro, whatever. He said he won and lost thousands over the years before he decided to quit gambling. He then got into the stock market and lost tens of thousands over night. That's when he realized he actually never did quit gambling.

Investing in Bitcoins and altcoins is no different. Everyone here is gambling. Good luck!  Smiley

Can you provide any evidence as to why its bad to invest in tools that allow exponential increases of freedom to exist?

Because there's a high chance that you'll lose money investing in bitcoin.
What i think you meant was, "Because there's a high chance that you'll lose money short term investing in bitcoin."
Since you're so short sited Ill revise what i wrote; "In the long-term, there is no risk in investing in freedom enabling tools."
'
Of course your gonna lose money in the short term.

You need to remember that when youre talking to someone that may be playing with the idea of investing in bitcoin they almost always mean longterm. If the person was trying to play the market short term they wouldnt be asking you the question.

These discussions are always long term

It is not a certainty.

Its not gambling when you're investing in freedom.

Dont ever forget, "Freedom is always a good bet."

Keep telling yourself that.

Bitcoin is a tool that enables ever greater degrees of freedom. Can you provide any evidence as to why its bad to invest in tools that allow exponential increases of freedom to exist?

Were automobiles a bad investment because they allowed you more freedom in travel?

Was it bad to invest in computer development in the 80s when no one could see a future for it besides for visionaries like steve jobs?

Bitcoin is so disruptive its going to set a new standard for disruptive technology. I feel bad for you that you don't understand the very basic fundamentals behind it.

Yes, I have a unhealthy addiction to crypto.

95% if the time I'm awake I'm online and doing crypto related stuff.
I run 5 projects atm, all crypto related. Launching one more this week.

In crypto I trust.

Peace!
