I think that it is a great idea, Not only Slovenia has such a btc city. I have read an article about Russia and they also have such a city for mining crypto. In my opinion, every country should follow this example to benefit from crypto

This whole thing brings us closer to adoption as when more people start to realize the potential benefits of using crypto and the fact that they can use it in everyday life it doesn't matter for them call it fiat or crypto because all that matters at the end of the day is for them to earn and spend their money

Good to hear that, awesome initiatives of Slovenia republic since Slovenia is the first country that adopt fully of bitcoin and cryptocurrency as a term of payments I hope that this a good start for BTC to be fully regulated.

Did you read the title ? "Slovenia creates first bitcoin city in the world", and of course other cryptocurrencies will be accepted in some stores.

I am alive but in hibernation.

I guess more user registered here in this forum than the entire population of slovenia. They are creating there own crypto currency and I think till now they do not have their any fiat currency.

I do not read anywhere in this article that they will be using bitcoin in that city. Article says that they will use Elipay.

Only in Slovenia could you call a shopping mall a Bitcoin City. Hey, I have an idea. I'll source a vacant strip mall in Detroit and call it Bitcoin Motors City.

this will trigger the growth of bitcoin users. a good news and perhaps in the months ahead. if slovenia successfully runs this system smoothly. maybe other countries will follow that growth. and we can be proud of this situation. because the price will get better. and certainly we can open wider business opportunities with crypto

Yeah lots of things to answer but I think that of confirmation wouldn't be a problem because even with mobile cash transfer, you still wait to see the transfer message sent out to show that a transaction has been recorded.

When dealing of transactions of tx it could be less of fees and faster process and if more countries enhances Bitcoin possible the price will boom and easy to travel vacations with no hassle .

lightning network is not a bitcoin only feature.
LN is its own network where multiple coins will be able to be used. thus not something thats going to add anything to bitcoin alone.

oh.. and whn you lock your btc into LN.. its no longer a sovereign asset. but something held in a controntract that neds a counter party to authorise

its time you wake up to the reality of dvelopment and stop just looking at the social defense/offense games

One the best news that I've seen so far after Malta's current state with cryptocurrencies.
Why some of the people here are negative about this news? when there are bad news out there you are complaining? and when there are positive news like this one you are still negative? ouch.
Give it a try and see on how things will work for this bitcoin paradise, the fees aren't the issue right now so people near that paradise will enjoy spending bitcoin through shopping it for real.

I really doubt that people in Slovenia are hardcore crypto fanatics. Grin

But the main purpose i think is to attract peoples around the world and promote tourism in the region, national economy, and they can even expand their business and sell over internet etc ... So, in your opinion this will add no value to cryptocurrency world ?

The aim also will be to attract blockchain industries and companies.
I think also there would be a big tourism factor and yet again raises big awareness for bitcoin and for crypto.
With around 500 stores visitors with bitcoin ciuld find it hard to keep their coins.

This is great to hear that merchants are actually willing to do go through this and offer us the ability to pay with crypto. Well, it's good that it's not New York or London or any other giant city wants to become a bitcoin city yet.
Fees are fine now, but as it was mentioned earlier here, you need to have a decent transaction speed too, if you want to be able to handle the needed tx count as well.
This will be done by the Lightning Network hopefully, so it's a good start now, but bitcoin needs time before the real mass adoption, to be a success story in the end...

I think before they invested on a big project like this, the first thing to do is to think this at first place no ?

Before launching any project, must list the advantages and disadvantages.
